Spiritual Levites

tabernacle

(notes compiled from prior church teachings)

In the next series of studies, we will Lord willing cover the Old Testament types and shadows hidden in the stories of ancient Israel.  We will learn the spiritual significance and the application for us today (1Co 10:11) of the following terms and references.

  • Who are the Levites?
  • Who are the sons of Aaron?
  • Who are the priesthood?
  • The Camp?
  • The Tabernacle? – The Sanctuary?

This will also be put into a mini study series that can be accessed in the Study Series tab on the top.

Types and shadows always have a positive and a negative application. It is through this system of apparent contradictions that Christ keeps the seven seals on His Word for the “many called.” God’s Word uses one type to typify exact opposites. Examples of this principle in Scripture are:

  • A lion is both Christ and the Adversary.

Rev 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

  • Christ is both a lamb and a lion.

Rev 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

  • Adam is both the beast within, a living soul and Christ, a quickening spirit.

1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

1Co 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

These principals are spiritually discerned.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

In this study, we will look primarily WITHIN ourselves in the kingdom of God (Luk 17:21)

What does the tribe of Levi, apart for the Aaronic priesthood, represent?

Who are the Levites in the OT SHADOW and what do they do?

  • Levites are appointed over the Tabernacle, bearing the vessels, camping around it
  • Levites keep the charge of the Tabernacle
  • Levites are given to Aaron and his sons as a gift (spiritually speaking our gift of faith)

Num 1:49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

Num 1:50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that [belong] to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

Num 3:5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Num 3:6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

Num 3:7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

Num 3:8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

Num 3:9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

Num 3:41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.

Num 18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.

Num 18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

Num 18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.

Num 18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Levi means “associated with him.” So, Levi is to be thought of as being associated with Christ and “His Christ “in the same sense as Leah was associated with Jacob.

Gen 29:34 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.

Leah was Jacob’s first wife. She is the wife he was given deceitfully, for his seven years of his labor. Leah, thinking that her labors would win her husband’s love has now born Jacob three sons, and she names this 4th son Levi, thinking that because of all she has done for Jacob, surely, he will now be associated with her. And this is what Levi represents. Levi is “associated with Christ.” It is the spirit of the Pharisee within us, which are full of dead man’s bones, hearers only, knowing the Truth, not being able to walk it out. It is the spirit of hypocrisy where we say to do but not do although we sit in Moses’s seat. It is the period before our conversion being made ready for Christ. Without it entails everything but Christ, all that is of the world. To be a spiritual Levite, we, at this stage, have the righteousness of the law. But is that enough?

Mat 5:20 “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

Neither Levi nor “a stranger (gentile)” were ever to “come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar.” Only the priests, the sons of Aaron (doers of the Word), are allowed to go into the sanctuary and handle the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar. Here is how Paul puts it in spiritual terms:

Heb 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Heb 13:10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

Levi within ……, are hearers only, still full of idols of the heart, divers and strange doctrines …… and without are all that is not Christ in other words all of Orthodoxy, plus the heathen nations of this world. Spiritual Levites are US, before our Day of the Lord, BEFORE being tried in the fire.

“They have no right to eat” at our altar? Meats that do not profit us at this stage is, was and will be, is striving with the Lord, wresting judgement away not being in His REST. It is not knowing God, Christ and “His Christ” whom God is sending.

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Heb 4:5 But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter My place of rest.”  Heb 4:6 So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good  news failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

Heb 4:7 So God set another time for entering His rest, and that time is today. God  announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when  you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts.”

Heb 4:8 Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have  spoken about another day of rest still to come.

Those who “serve the Tabernacle” are those who are given to us for our benefit. We are the man of sin first before we become the last Adam, a quickening spirit, through a process of fiery judgement because judgement is now on our house for each of us, if we are His. At this stage, we say we are Jews but are not. We have faith (a gift) without WORKS. We are spiritual Levites or uncircumcised Philistines.

Rev 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and [I know] the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but [are] the synagogue of Satan.

Jas 2:17 So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless

The Levites are given to the priesthood, “the Lord, and… His Christ,” to help minister to the priesthood, but who cannot handle the vessels of SERVICE. Levi spiritually, are those who “have no right to eat at our altar” who is slewing our Lord inwardly. It is that same spirit, to this day which is slaying God’s elect. Who is accountable for the death of our Lord within and without? It is HAVING FAITH WITHOUT WORKS.

We live by every Word of God, because the Kingdom of God is IN us (Luk 17:20 – 21).

Mat 4:4 But he [Christ] answered [the Adversary] and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

When we understand that we live by every Word of God then we understand that the parables are about the mysteries of that kingdom. At first, we are not able to see this mystery but in due time the Lord heals us and opens our eyes and ears:

Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

“Blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear” (Mt. 13) is one of those “things that are not as though they were” statements when it was first spoken by Christ.

Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

The night before Christ’s apostles all forsook Him, He made this statement about them.

Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Christ knew that even His apostles had to “live by every word which proceedeth out of the mouth of God”, He knew that we, like Peter, deny Him first before we come forth as gold tried in the fire.

Pe 1:7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

We are first the children of wrath, “as I said unto the Jews … you cannot follow me now …

Joh 13:36 Simon Peter asked, “Lord, where are You going?” And Jesus replied, “You can’t go with Me now, but you will follow Me later.”

“You cannot follow me now but you will follow me later” is first true of God’s elect.

Remember, Leah was Jacob’s reward for his efforts just as her association with Jacob was the reward for her efforts. Neither typify the true Christ. Listen to what Jacob says about Simeon and Levi:

Gen 49:1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.

Gen 49:2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

Gen 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. Gen 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united : for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall.

Gen 49:7 Cursed [be] their anger, for [it was] fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

“Come not into their… assembly… be not united” with them, is our call to “come out of Babylon (state of death, state of disobedience, spiritually speaking) … and be ye separate.” It is moving unto perfection leaving the milk behind (Heb 6) and not thinking above what is written.

2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her [last] plagues.

The law is not able to make perfect, being the law of Moses or the law of the gentiles (our consciences accusing or excusing us, Rom 2:15):

Heb 7:19 For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a  better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Heb 7:20 This new system was established with a solemn oath. Aaron’s descendants  became priests without such an oath,

Heb 7:21 but there was an oath regarding Jesus. For God said to Him, “The LORD has  taken an oath and will not break His vow: ‘You are a priest forever.'”

Heb 7:22 Because of this oath, Jesus is the One who guarantees this better covenant  with God.

This is what separates the spiritual priests from spiritual Levites within and without. The priests are faithful to God’s Word (doers) and will not partake of the idols of the Levites who “cannot come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar.” If they do come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar then both the Levites and the priests die. All of this is saying:

1Co 10:21 You cannot drink from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons, too. You cannot eat at the Lord’s Table and at the table of demons, too.

The law for a carnal nation brings confusion and death.

Rom 7:9 At one time I lived without understanding the law. But when I learned the  command not to covet, for instance, the power of sin came to life,

Rom 7:10 and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.

How the Levites serve the priesthood:

How do the Levites (Pharisee within us) “keep the charge of all of the tabernacle?”

Rom 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Leaving our first love suffered by the elect first internally and the multitudes WITHIN and without, the withstanding of God’s Word by the Korah’s, the betrayal of Judas, and in this case the failure of Levi WITHIN and without, all serve to keep Levi from eating before the golden altar of incense, and yet Levi performs an incredible service [to] the tabernacle.

Mal 2:4  And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

Mal 2:5  My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.

Mal 2:6  The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.

Mal 2:7  For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

Mal 2:8  But ye [Levi] are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.

Mal 2:9  Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.

The Levites spiritually within are given to the priesthood (the gift of faith), to help minister to the priesthood, but who cannot handle the vessels of service. Levi is those who “have no right to eat at our altar because the ALTAR IS THE CROSS AND WE CANNOT GO THERE AT THIS STAGE OF OUR WALK.”  Levi IS the spirit who slew Christ and “His Christ”.

Who IS SERVING the tabernacle and yet have no right to eat at the altar in the holy place? Where is it that the wheat and the tare grow together until the harvest? Who is it who has “dealt shamefully with the servants of the man who planted a vineyard and let it out to husbandmen?” Who is it who has said “let’s slay His Son and seize His inheritance?” All of these parables points to US when we are hearers only, when we have faith without works. Our day of Pentecost, our Day of the Lord, IS YET TO COME.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:

Luk 12:49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

Levi is “another gospel, another spirit and another Jesus” which separates the Levites from the priests. It is the leavening spirit of the Pharisee WITHIN and without us:

2Jn 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Tit 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Tit 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

2Co 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

1Ti 6:3  If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

1Ti 6:4  He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

1Ti 6:5  Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Whose is this “men (lies) of corrupt minds within ourselves?”

2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist [physically and spiritually, he who denies either is antichrist].

2Jn 1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

2Jn 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Who is guilty of these accusations, US, CHIEF OF SINNERS FIRST? We live by every Word and every word applies to us first.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1Ti 1:15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

We are blind Pharisees before the Light comes:

Mat 16:11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

Mar 8:21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

Mar 9:32 But they [Christ’s apostles] understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Luk 9:45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not [Christ’s apostles]: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

“Blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear” (Mt. 13) is one of those “things that are not as though they were” statements when it was first spoken by our Lord.

Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

The night before Christ’s apostles all forsook Him He made this statement about His apostles:

Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

“As I said unto the Jews…” Christ knew that even His apostles had to “live by every word which proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” But Peter, us, do not yet understand this principle:

Joh 13:33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Joh 13:36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now ; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

Joh 13:37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

Joh 13:38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

“As I said unto the Jews?” That is right, the words to the children of wrath are first for us… “as I said unto the Jews… you cannot follow me now.”

“You cannot follow me now” is first true of US. We live these verses first. We first eat of the tree of good and evil before we eat of the tree of life.

1Jn 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

We look “behind us” to see this revelation of Jesus Christ:

Rev 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Rev 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

We are in “the seven churches” before we are the seven angels in Christ’s right hand. We are joined to and associated with spiritual Babylon before we can “come out of her.” So too are we “Levites” who are “associated with Him” and “joined to Him” before we are BEING made to “rule this world… and angels.”

The parable of the workers in the vineyard who all get paid the same but at different times, portrays who are today’s spiritual Levites who are not priests. We see that Aaron’s sons were born of Aaron and we forget that Aaron had to be called out of Levi. Likewise, we read of the disgruntled “laborers in His vineyard” and forget that this is us before we come to see how one becomes a laborer who is “content with His wages (Mat 20:1 – 16).” We are children of the devil first before we are being conformed into the image of Christ.

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience :

Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Our old man (sacrificed) is given to the new man in us. We, have to die first, broken off so that only the faithful (new man) remain.

Rom 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Rom 11:2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
Rom 11:3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
Rom 11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Rom 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Rom 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
Rom 11:9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
Rom 11:10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
Rom 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

We first deny Christ before we are being TURNED and being converted:

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Through the casting away of our old man, we are being reconciled, dying daily, we decreasing, Christ increasing.

Rom 11:12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

Rom 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

Rom 11:14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

Rom 11:15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

“If the first fruit is holy, the lump is holy also.”

Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear:

Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

The spiritual Levite in us are being crafted in again in our Day of the Lord. Christ is dragging us to Himself. We are being made anew, all Israel within is coming in.

Rom 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Levites spiritually are our enemy within (trust in the righteousness of the law) and without for a season but if the Lord is working with us and He is, we are being made into Christ’s image.

Rom 11:28  As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.

Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

Rom 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

And this is the original “gift and calling of God” for all mankind within and without and that is to being “conformed to the image of His son” and not by works of the law but through Christ, the Living Word and the sons of Aaron in type and shadow.

Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

So, when the “first” who are now “last” are eventually paid, this will be the final outcome of it all:

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

We die daily to flesh and if we endure to the end, we are being saved.

Gal 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

Conclusion:

A Short Summary. Spiritual Levites within come behind in no gift (faith) but is yet carnal, yet carnal. We may have all the Truth in the world but if our faith does not have works, it means nothing. When we are being resurrected in down payment form, we change from spiritual Levites into spiritual sons of Aaron which typifies Christ when Christ and His angels come in our Day of the Lord.

1Co 1:7 Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of  our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Co 1:8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the  day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

In the next study, Lord willing, we will cover the priesthood, sons of Aaron.

Obadiah Part 2 – Dec 24, 2015 (click to view, download or print PDF)

The Covenant that Deceives

Last week in our study of the first several verses of Obadiah we saw that the prophecy or the battle against Edom begins when we are given ears to hear and Christ in us (the Ambassador) is sent to the heathen nations within and without.  The ambassador speaking Words of fire is what brings judgment to us and ushers in the process of sanctification.

Exo 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

We also saw that we will at first be puffed up with knowledge until we are proven with trials and those trials will utterly destroy the old prideful man within us in due time.  This week we will study the next 5 verses that provide more detail on the Lord’s process of choosing us out of this world and then through the process of judgment conforming us to His image.

Oba 1:7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

Oba 1:8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

Oba 1:9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Oba 1:10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

Oba 1:11  In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

We must go thru Babylon first to find the real Jesus Christ.  And this means we will first come to know ‘another jesus’, be deceived, eat defiled spiritual food and speaks lies and blaspheme the Lord by teaching DOCTRINES such as eternal hell fire, free will and the trinity.  During this time, we will persecute Christ (within us and without) in our religious zeal and not execute the love of God in our strong delusion.  This is what an outwardly looking ‘clean beast’ does when we speak lies.

Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

All of God’s people come out of Egypt and then sacrifice to devils knowing another jesus first.  We first worship the beast we all are in our self righteousness.

Hos 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt

Hos 11:2 As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven image

But our marrying up with the harlot church and its lies is all the Lord’s plan and in the end it is the very occasion the Lord seeks to bring judgment against Mount Edom within us.

Let’s look deeper at our first verse of this Part 2.

Oba 1:7 All the men of thy confederacy [H1285] have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

This verse speaks to our unconverted state when we come to Christ but still have no real understanding.  We can readily see the Hebrew word translated as ‘confederacy’ really is the word covenant as it is almost always translated.

H1285                       Total KJV Occurrences: 285

When the Lord first drags us, He uses Babylon to first draw us out of the world (Egypt). But our time is not yet and we must first know Christ in the flesh,  believe false doctrines and worship the beast.  We will be multiplied during this season and that keeps us and the whole world deceived and bound in captivity toiling in vain.

Jer 29:4  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;

Jer 29:5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;

Jer 29:6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.

Jer 29:7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

Moses brings us the law which is only a schoolmaster until Christ brings the Law of Spirit and life [grace and Truth].

Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Until Christ comes to us, there is no real truth and we remain children of darkness.  Darkness is when we have no understanding or true wisdom into the things of God.  We have yet to hear the report (the rumour Obadiah is speaking about) or much less believe it.

Eph 5:8 (NLT) For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!

Jer 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

The Lord is calling light out of the darkness of the heavens and earth that He created.

Jer 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

But a time will come when the Lord will say ‘let there be light’.  In that day, this Babylonian time of false peace and prosperity will come to an end.

1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

The peace is a false peace.  Inwardly a war is fixin to come.

Jer 6:14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

The Word is a two edged sword and at first is a snare and a trap to bring us under the law of Moses and believing it is our own will and righteousness that makes us right with God.   We all fall backwards when we first come into the presence of Christ. No man in the presence of Christ lives.

Isa 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

Joh 18:6 As Jesus said “I AM He,” they all drew back and fell to the ground!

Exo 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

Exo 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Strong’s definitions show us that the word for covenant is taken from H1262 (in the sense of cutting (like H1254)); a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh): – confederacy, [con-]feder[-ate], covenant, league.

This directly associates the making of a covenant with what we are eating and being fed spiritually speaking.

H1262

áÌøä

bârâh

baw-raw’

A primitive root; to select; also (as denominative from H1250) to feed; also (as equivalent to H1305) to render clear (Ecc_3:18): – choose, (cause to) eat, manifest, (give) meat.

The covenant meal or the communion with Christ is in fact linked to eating His bread.

1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

Joh 6:53  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Yet it works in our days of darkness as well and the time we spend in Babylon feeding on the lies of orthodox Christianity and becoming ensnared to the elements of this world and its obsessions with days, times and years and other abominations.  We eat leavened bread, tainted with lies whilst in spiritual darkness.

Pro 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Do not forget that the law of Moses and the law of the gentiles, our consciences accusing or excusing us, is this self-same spirit of the great harlot that we must come out of.

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Rom 2:15  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

It is only after we are ‘dragged’ to Christ and given to eat at the table of the Lord in the Body that we are being given understanding of the true doctrines of Christ.  We feed on the mountain of the Lord with ‘The Christ’ and this is what we are eating.

Eze 34:16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

Here is our second verse of this study.

Oba 1:8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

The wisdom of this world and of Edom within is being destroyed when we are given our ears to hear and the ambassador goes forth to preach to the heathen nations within us.  We won’t see the Truth until we are first shown that we are blind, in spiritual darkness believing lies.

Joh 9:39  And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind

Jer 49:7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the LORD of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

The good news is this covenant with death; us being under the law will be disannulled by God through Christ.  It will come about when the war in our heavens and battle against Mt. Edom takes place in the day of every man’s judgment as Obadiah’s prophecy and also Isaiah 28 attest.

Isa 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

The letter of the law of Moses, before Christ brings grace and Truth is spiritual death to us, the letter kills.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

That ‘day’ referenced in Oba 1:8 is the day of the Lord.  This is the same day Peter spoke (Act 2:20) about and which the prophet Joel also spoke would come in the appointed times.

Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

This destruction of our carnal knowledge and worldly wisdom is a marvelous work of God.

Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Isa 29:14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.  (See also 1 Cor 1:19)

Here is our next verse of Part 2.

Oba 1:9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Having our light turned to darkness and seeing we have been deceived will bring about much dismay when judgment falls upon the house of God and the heathen nations within.  As God’s people we are the first to be judged (1 Pet 4:19).  The gentile nations will have trodden down Jerusalem within and without and hold us captive awaiting our day of judgment.  But when that process begins, there will be great dismay or perplexity in our heavens and earth as we see Christ appearing in the clouds (The Body) and our faith is increased.

Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luk 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Luk 21:28  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

When the trials begin and our heavens are shaken with the scourging grace that saves us, we are dismayed and fear being weak in the faith.

Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

This brings to mind the parable of the disciples in the vessel on the sea being tossed and turned by the waves.

Mat 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Mat 8:25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

Mat 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Waves are caused when winds (spirits) come against the sea (flesh) and as such are doctrines. We are tossed and turned by every wind of doctrine until we come to our wits end and the Lord delivers us. That is how we are put into then dragged out of Babylon in due time and our faith is proven with fiery trials.

Psa 107:25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

Jer 51:42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered (with carnal/fleshly lies of Babylon) with the multitude of the waves thereof.

Everyone on the mount of Esau will ultimately be cut off by slaughter.  The old man will be slain by the truth of God’s word being revealed to the nations within.  This process of slaying is linked to the process of cutting off which we saw earlier was also integral to the definition of forming a covenant.  The act of ‘circumcision’ itself is this cutting off process and how the Lord separates His people and marks them as His.

Gen 17:14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

And of course what is really being spoken about is the circumcision of our hearts and cleansing of our heavens and that only happens by the finger of God.  No fleshly hands involved here.

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Rom 2:28  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

When the Lord brings grace and Truth, i.e. the renewed covenant to us, He is cutting off and show no pity to the old man and our old ways of life.  All things shall indeed be made new!

Eze 7:9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.

Zep 1:4 I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

The words of Christ are the living waters we hear and speak in the Body that brings about this great deliverance by cutting off the mount of Edom within us.

Zec 13:1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.

Zec 13:2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

It is the lies and false doctrines that defile our heavens so when the Lord brings us into the truth He cuts off those things that cause us to err from His ways.

Isa 9:14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

Isa 9:15 The ancient and honourable, he the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he the tail.

Isa 9:16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Joh 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Here is our next verse of the study to look into.

Oba 1:10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

Our flesh wants the blessing of God and despises the fact it does not receive it.  The Lord is not saving our old man, He is saving the new man that is born of spirit.

Gen 37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

Gen 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

Gen 27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

The Lord teaches us that merely hating someone in our hearts is in spiritual ‘murder’.

1Jn 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Doing violence against our brother in Scripture is the opposite of loving our brothers and neighbors as Christ is commanding.

Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

When we do violence against our brother/neighbor we are a false witness and are not honoring the Lord much less obeying His commandments.  Again we must actually become doers of this word and not just hearers to know and practice the true love of God.

1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Lest we forgot our role as kings and priests of the Lord, as Christ, ministering to the flock, speaking the words of fire and bringing comfort to our brethren let’s recall:

Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Contrast Jesus blessing to His saints who practiced love by feeding, clothing, housing and giving drink to the naked and the sick versus the ways of the carnal mind and the world which is accusing the brethren, pointing of the finger. We treasure up wrath.

Rom 2:1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Rom 2:2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

Rom 2:3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Before Christ comes to bring judgment to the heathen nations, we are incapable of loving God much less our neighbor.  All the earth is corrupted with this violence and must be remade to enter the kingdom of God.

Gen 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Christ spoke of the treachery of all mankind and how we as beasts were all innately violent incapable of doing good.

Mat 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Jud 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

Eze 28:16  By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

We will be brought low and shown our innate sinfulness (nakedness), see the ‘abomination of desolation’ which are standing in the temple of God where it ought not to be.  When we see this, then you can be sure the destruction of the mount of Esau within is underway.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Ecc 3:18  I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

Before we are shown this by the WORD, we will be blind and unware of our spiritual nakedness and not even ashamed of it just like Adam and Eve.  But the day of the Lord comes to us, when the ambassador that is Christ speaks to us and we are shown who and what we truly are and this is leading us to repentance.

Nah 3:5 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.

Jer 51:51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’S house.

It is a painful yet necessary process to go thru to enter the kingdom of God. We must bear our shame and be chopped down from our prideful position.

Eze 44:13 And they shall not come near unto me, to do the office of a priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, in the most holy place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed.

It is the trials of our faith and bearing the afflictions of Christ that covers us with Christ’s righteousness.

Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

We are blessed indeed by being in that First Resurrection if we are given to keep watch and not let our garments be spoiled by sin.

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

In conclusion we see that the old covenant i.e. the law of Moses and the law of the gentiles, our consciences excusing or accusing us, the covenant of death, is the very thing that deceives us but praise the Lord it shall not stand. HE IS THE LORD.

Eze 20:25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

Eze 20:26  And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

Our last verse will really be covered in the next study Part 3 but I will use it to set the stage for Part 3.

Oba 1:11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

Verse 11 is the lead-up to the next three verses where the Lord lays out the ‘accusations’ against us. The accusations against us relate to us defrauding and oppressing our brother Jacob and conspiring to plunder his goods. We will cover the specifics of those accusations of the Lord in the next installment (Part 3 of Obadiah) and determine what we all first do even though we actually believe we are religious and righteous before God.

Joh 16:1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

Joh 16:2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Biblical Truth, faith

Wrestling With “the Law” Deception

freedomThere are very many false gospels and other jesus’s preached throughout Babylon.  Given there are 200 Million false doctrines, there are a seemingly innumerable number of denominations and sects that promote doctrines opposed to the doctrines of Christ.   I want to share a particular false gospel that has some very zealous followers who do speak of Christ but without knowledge.  This pertains to those who insist that faith in Christ is additive to the law of Moses.  This issue was dealt with and put to bed early in the church’s history for those with ears to hear and eyes to see.

Act 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Act 15:6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

Act 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

Act 15:8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

I was engaged recently with a so called brother that has been ensnared and bound tightly into the carnal doctrines espoused by the Jewish Messianic movement. In our immaturity as babes in Christ we can easily get into the mindset of thinking worshiping God relates to what we do on the external in the flesh. This includes many flesh rituals the least of which is those that think they are pleasing God and Christ more by using what they believe to be His Hebrews names in their speech. The far bigger error is the one that has them believing that the Torah (Law of Moses) and its observance is for Born Again Christians, God’s very Elect. God’s Elect, the chosen few, are no longer bound by the law of Moses and all of its carnal commandments and ordinances. Christ is the new priesthood and with that comes a change in the law.

Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Grace and truth that came thru Christ has totally replaced the worship of God in the flesh. Yet despite many Scriptures that speak plainly to the old being done away with and the total folly of trying to add the law of Moses to faith in Christ. Paul called such gospels foolish (the foolish Galatians) . Those to whom Christ has appeared and imparted the gift of faith are no longer under the law of Moses. Old things such as that law have passed away and all things are new for them.

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Paul and the Apostles (ACTS 15) had many a wrestling match with carnal minded believers in the early days of the church and we are promised to have them today. Paul wrote about those that have swerved into this egregious error who teach these things and put their followers into bondage. Such teachers of the law, are deceitful workers, false Apostles and are to be avoided if they insist on their heresy.

1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

1Ti 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

We are to reject such heretics after the second or third admonition, which I have been slow to do in the past. Such foolishness to be arguing over the law of Moses. It is so vain and useless.

Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Tit 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Tit 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

The law and its carnal commandments are useful and are good as indeed it is thru the knowledge of that law that we are dragged to Christ in our appointed time. Yet once Christ has come, we move on in our new found freedom and no longer bear that burden of the law of sin and death. And NOBODY in the truth will never then say or think, let’s go sin so grace may abound. Yet that is the false accusation that will always come from those in the flesh when we speak of our freedom in Christ.

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

It would take a very long paper to lay out all the Scriptures and reconcile the arguments used by these Torah promoters. Thankfully other brothers have already prepared such papers (www.iswasandwillbe.com) and I would be pleased to share those links with any who should ask. But I want to share something I see that very simply explains this if we have some spiritual understanding. Christ said this.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The law is fulfilled in the lives of God’s Elect. When judgment comes, our old heavens and old earth are destroyed by God’s fire. All things are new and the spiritual man is Born by the power of God.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The fulfillment of the law in our lives is accomplished when we are judged. This begins at the House of God, His very Elect. The heavens and the earth of a true born again believer have passed away. That is what this says and it validates the true message Christ was given but the carnal minded did not understand from Matthew 5 and His Sermon on the Mount. When we are born again by the gift of faith, then our heavens and earth pass away. We are a new creature! The Law of Moses brings this judgment and when we are judged, then comes salvation and the fulfillment (earnest deposit) of the promises given to Abraham.

If we can understand where heaven is, then these words of Christ will begin to tell a consistent story of God bringing salvation to all men thru judgment in the appointed time.

Luk 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Luk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

God’s throne,  His kingdom is in our hearts.  That is where Christ sits at the right hand of God.  As Christ says, we all will live by every word and will be judged, reaping what we have sown. Salvation by no means has any man avoiding the wrath of God. That wrath will be revealed in our heavens against all the ungodliness and unrighteous lies we once believed as the truth.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

It is by experiencing this wrath and going thru this judgment that we will enter into Christ and come to know Him in the Spirit. The story of JOB tells us of God’s plan to bring judgment and great wrath upon us and in doing so be remade into a new creation.

Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Isa 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

The Scriptures and prophets of old all prophesied things for us living today that have been blessed to receive the Spirit of God and be judged now. It is these marvelous works of God to the children of men.

2Co 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

The circumcision is without hands. No flesh is involved in purifying our hearts by faith. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LAW. It is by faith that we will all be saved in our appointed times.

I am still learning how to deal properly with these heretics that are bound by these legalistic bondages and claim to be teachers of the law and know not of the true grace of the Lord Jesus. God has given us power and great boldness to speak His truths, we shall know the truth Christ said and it is this truth that has set us free from the law of sin and death that defines the Torah aka the Law of Moses.

Gal 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Gal 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Babylon has perpetuated many a carnal ritual that puts the emphasis on the external, what men do in the flesh as evidence of one’s standing with God. Yet God looks to the heart and it is HIM doing the work, the circumcision is truly without hands.

Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

You can’t put new wine into an old wine skin. You can’t sew a new patch onto an old cloth. All things are new if one is truly in Christ. God is not looking for fleshly worshipers and has not for 2,000 years.

It takes God given ears to hear to come to know and believe these truths. God’s Elect speak these truths among much opposition because that is our commandment and faith only comes by hearing and for that reason God sends us to do His work.

Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.
