Amos Part 10 – Smiting the Winter House

Key Verses:  Amos 3:8 – 3:15

We ended last study with this verse containing the final two rhetorical questions that portray the extent of the Lord’s hand in the process of judgment.

Amo 3:8  The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

The most recent installment of Mike’s Isaiah’s study emphasized that the words “roared” and “spoken” are in the Hebrew Piel (perfect mood) tense; meaning they represent a continual is, was and will be action. It is the continual roaring of the Lion of the tribe of Judah that teaches us the fear of the Lord and continually sends us forth to prophecy to the nations within ourselves and without (Link to Isaiah 7:19-20 Study Here).

It is this ongoing revelation (action) of Christ working in us that is being declared unto us which is the secret hidden from the world and revealed only to the chosen few.

Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

1Co 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

The church of Jesus Christ is built when The Christ, the Lord’s ambassadors, are sent forth to prophesy (Isa 6:9, Mat 10:5-8). Like all the prophets of the Lord, we are prophesied to by an fellow angel/prophet and in turn are sent to bring the revelation of Jesus Christ to all men.

Rev 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

The prophesying to the nations begins inwardly for the Elect in this age of judgment and will outwardly be fulfilled as we are used to bring others to Christ now and in the lake of fire.

Amo 3:9 Publish (hearken) in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

Amo 3:10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

Amo 3:11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

Amo 3:12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

Amo 3:13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

Amo 3:14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

Amo 3:15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

The Word sent forth will be heard (published) in the fleshly, worldly and religious kingdoms of this world. This applies inwardly in this age to those few given ears to hear and being caused to hear the Word of the Lord (Jer 18:2, Pro 1:23). Outwardly these words will be fulfilled in the lake of fire when the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of the Lord and His Christ.

Ashdod as studied in Amos Part 3, was a key Philistine city (strength of the flesh), where Dagon (symbolizing our beast) was/is their and our god at the appointed times. When the Word of God is published in these spiritual strongholds (the inward Philistine cities), the result is the cutting off of the lies and the power those lies have over our walk (1Sa 5:3-4). The beheading of Dagon foretells the work the Word will do in the appointed times for all. The fire of judgment will cut off the lies and their power over us.

Pro 19:9 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Egypt represents the world and the kingdom of the old man and the carnally minded. The burden of the Egyptians is bondage and what the Spirit of Christ will set us free from in our day of judgment.

Exo 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

The Word of God calls us to gather on the mountains of Samaria where we will see great tribulation (tumult) and oppressions. God’s people, who is Jesus Christ, the Body that the world hates and persecutes (Act 22:8, Joh 15:18), must needs go through Samaria. We must live by every word and thank God because it is here in spiritual Samaria where we will and are meeting the real Christ and begin to partake of the true living waters.

Joh 4:4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

In Part 2 of the Micah study,  there was a deeper review of the meaning and significance of Samaria. The woman at the well (in Samaria) was found by Jesus Christ and a lost sheep was returned to the fold worshiping in Spirit and in Truth by partaking of the living waters. Our role as watchman is not just within Jerusalem. From the wall that is The Christ, we look both inwardly and outwardly. With eyes round about, we look out into Samaria and pull in the lost sheep of the house of Israel the Lord has prepared and brings to us (Psa 10:17, Rom 10:15) by the foolishness of our preaching (1Co 1:21).

Luk 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

The process of spiritual progression is signified by the number three. Samaria in this way is like Babylon, the third step of progression we must endure and then come out of to be delivered.  Overcoming the flesh (Ashdod), the world (Egypt) and the lies of the great harlot(Samaria) are all necessary experiences for God’s people to live out and thereby learn.

Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues

Samaria is where we go to flee from our old life and find peace. We flee to the mountains after being shown that we are the abomination causing desolation despite our outward religiosity.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Mountains are elevated earth that sits closer to the heavens and spiritually speak to the pride of carnal man and it is on those mountains where the beast carries the great harlot sits within our yet carnal mindset. A fellow angel/prophet shows us these truths as we look behind in our day of judgment.

Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Rev 17:9  And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Coming out of Babylon is coming out of Samaria and that is a process that takes the rest of our days in these clay vessels. The 200 million lies of the harlot is a giant army that takes much overcoming as our faith is tried and we learn to judge righteous judgment (Joh 7:24) and not even think above what is written (1Co 4:6). There is always more work, more maturing to come and we must guard against slothfulness. It’s a good fight of faith to the end (1Ti 6:12, Mat 24:13)

Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

The Lord knows how to reserve the unjust for their day of wrath. Our temporary peace and being at ease is a false peace and will come to an end when the woes (judgment) come.

Amo 6:1 Woe to those at ease in Zion, and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria, those noted as the leader of the nations! And the house of Israel came to them.

The great tumults [H4103] in our midst is the trouble and destruction that is necessary and ordained for salvation to come.  Being given the Morning Star (Rev 2:28) is the blessing of judgment as Christ rised within is and brings much trouble to our old man.

Eze 7:6 An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.

Eze 7:7 The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble [H4103] is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.

Learning righteousness comes from enduring this trouble and learning patience in our judgment. This is how we are caused to keep His commandments (Eze 36:27) and be set free from sin, if we continue in Truth (Joh 8:32). Before we are being taught through the chastening and scourging grace of the Lord (Tit 2:11, Heb 12:6), we do not  know to do right and we oppress the new man within us and those without ourselves as we judge and act in an unrighteous manner.

Amo 3:10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

Our time in spiritual Babylon (Samaria) is the time preceding the great earthquake that brings salvation. We must go into Samaria and lay up treasures in our earth and store up wrath for the day of wrath yet to be revealed from heaven.

Isa 39:6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest (store) up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Ignorance is no defense of our misdeeds in our physical courts of law and neither is it a defense in God’s court. Sins of ignorance must be recompensed and an offering made (Lev 4:3, 4:13).

Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward

Act 17:30 Truly, these (former) times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

To bring us to repentance the Lord creates adversaries.

Amo 3:11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

So therefore, because of our sins, God’s elect who are judged first are the first to learn the fear of the Lord. Learning this teaches us that our every misdeed has a just recompense from a sovereign God. We reap what we sow. The Lord creates adversaries to test us and punish us when we disobey and this is all purposed for our learning righteousness.

1Ki 13:26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion……

Coming to our wits ends (Psa 107:27) requires us to lose all hope of escape and deliverance of our own. The Lord uses the wicked WITHIN and WITHOUT, as His sword to oppress us and in due time cause us to cry out to the Lord.

Psa 17:9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

Psa 17:12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

Psa 17:13 Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

Our redemption draws near when we see ourselves surrounded by enemies (Luk 21:20).   Spiritually speaking this is our flesh and the lusts and pride that defines the carnally minded.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they (Carnal Men) deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

Psa 22:12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.

The Lord created a crooked serpent to deceive (Job 26:13), the same being the waster that destroys (Isa 54:16). The Lord works all things, even evil things for good (Rom 8:28) even raising up an adversary to surround the land promised to the Israel of God. The Lord turns us over to the law of sin and the flesh and lusts that live deep in these bodies of clay. Babylon and Assyria are part of the same spiritual army the Lord uses to accomplish His will of salvation.

Isa 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

Isa 10:6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Jer 27:6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.

Jer 27:7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.

There are a couple of revealing nuggets in this verse’s comparison of our deliverance with the residue of a sheep being taken out of the mouth of a lion.

Amo 3:12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out [delivered – H5337] that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch

First it is God’s elect, all those who enter thru the door that is Christ that are the shepherds of the sheep (Joh 10:2). This is what prophesying does, it rescues and delivers the residue of sheep from the mouth of the roaring lion who is our father the devil. David, as a type of Jesus Christ and of God’s elect, who would come at Pentecost, experienced in the physical, what we do in the spiritual (Joh 6:63, 1Co 10:11).

1Sa 17:34  And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

1Sa 17:35  And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

The beast that all men are (Ecc 3:18) are of their father the devil who seek to devour the man child within ourselves and without.

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Psa 22:21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

There is not much remaining after a lion gets hold of sheep and so it is with the true Israel of God, the spiritual Jews who the Lord judges in this age. This is true individually within ourselves but also outwardly thinking of those few, the few chosen is relative to all mankind.

Jer 30:11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.

Rom 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

The Lord’s makes the wicked for the day of evil (Pro 16:4) but His purposes is always good and that is to remake us and not to destroy us. All it takes is a tiny sprig/seed planted by the Lord.

Isa 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

What the Lord has torn down, He will and is raising up again in the “three days” of our spiritual progression (Joh 2:19, Mat 24:2). The Lord that turns us into sin (destruction) yet also turns us back (Psa 90:2) and restores all that was lost with even greater treasures.

Joe 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Mat 17:11 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.

A final point on verse 12 is our dwelling in Samaria on a bed and in Damascus on a couch.  Beds and couches are where we sleep or relax. The new man will be taken from this Samaritan bed and the old man will be left (Luk 17:34). Until we go through it, we always think the Lord has come and our earthquake is already past. Yet He comes as a thief in the night when we are saying peace and safety resting on beds and couches in spiritual Samaria (1Th 5:2-3).

Until we go through our judgment and abide in the fire, the furnace of affliction (Isa 48:10), there remains a rest we have yet to fully find. Even when we do find it, there is yet more to be found and this journey of faith and growing never ends.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Our labor for the Lord is to be done in His House which is where deliverance is found (Zion).

Judgment being upon the altars of Bethel, the House of God means our way of worshiping and making sacrifices in serving the Lord is in focus. The outcome of our judgment is that we will and are obeying the Lord (Rom 2:13, Rom 6:14). The Lord accomplishes this destroying of the power of flesh by cutting off our horns from which we get our power to defy and rebel against Him.

Horns signify power and like all words can be positive or negative. The Lord and His Word is the power or the horn of our salvation (Psa 18:2, Rom 1:16). Yet here in Amos the horns being cut off is the power the enemy hold over the new man. In wrath and jealousy that power is destroyed when the Lord brings vengeance for His Temple.

Lam 2:3 He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.

Lam 2:4 He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.

The power of Satan over us is the carnal mind. To be carnally minded IS DEATH (Rom 8:6) and it is this mindset that holds power (unbelief) over us and must be destroyed.

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Christ comes to us and through His death in us, we overcome through death to self, the power of our father the devil (Joh 8:44).

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

For Christ to increase, the flesh and old man is being decreased (Joh 3:30) and by this process we grow and take on the mind of Jesus Christ (1Co 2:16).

Amo 3:15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

The Maker of all things is the Maker of all houses and the One who makes all the seasons of life.

Psa 74:17 Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.

There is indeed a time and a purpose for every season under heaven (Ecc 3:1-8). Before we bear fruit, we don’t bear fruit and this is why the Lord brings judgment against His vineyard (Isa 5:4-5) for raising up briars and thorns instead. Good lasting fruit only comes by us falling down, acting in unbelief and then being chastened of the Lord.

Heb 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Winter is a time of spiritual darkness, storms/trials and a dearth of spiritual fruit. It is cold in the winter signifying our need for covering and the comfort that only the Body of Jesus Christ can provide. Love covers a multitude of sins (1Pe 4:8) as does our learning obedience in the fire of out trials (Rev 3:18). Our covering is found only in Christ by The Christ of Christ.

Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Rev 19:8 And to her (The Body) was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

The elect must stay faithful in the winter seasons and stand on faith knowing the author of salvation is not ourselves but the Lord. We are being taught to be patient and wait on the Lord.

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh

Jer 36:22 Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

God is smiting the winter house within us with the summer house to destroy it. The summer house that brings the Light and the warmth is the Body of Christ, the same purveyors of judgment through the spoken Word (Mat 19:28, Rev 20:6). Our winter house of flesh is smitten by the summer house and in turn we become a summer house to work the same work in others.

Rev 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

Rev 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

The man of sin’s abode is the winter house where we abide alone and serve self. The summer house is the Body of Christ which is the instrument the Lord uses to bring judgment and salvation. Our way of escape is only through the pillars of the Temple that are the body of Christ (Rev 3:12, Rev 15:7-8). Praying our flight not be in winter, is a prayer that we be given a spiritual wife, a help (Gen 2:18), to guide us on our way of escape. We cannot make it alone.

Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

Pro 31:14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

It is by showing the winter house to the summer house that we become ashamed of our sins and begin to strive (stop being at ease) to conform to the pattern shown us by the Word.

Eze 43:10 Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.

Ivory is a cherished physical ornament used to dress up and make attractive things in the natural. Ivory being predominantly white is used by us spiritually speaking when we focus on the outside of the cup rather than the inside where God looks. Both the kings of Samaria (1Ki 22:39) and the beast of Babylon worship and serve the false gods of Baal under the influence of the harlot (Jezebel) that make merchandise of the things of God (Rev 18:12) and focus on the outside vs. the inside of the cup.

Luk 11:39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.

The Lord is not impressed with appearances and looks to the heart of man for righteousness.  Abiding in spiritual Samaria (Babylon) we become complacent with our knowledge which is why the Lord comes the second time for salvation apart from sin. Those beds and houses we make of ivory to justify ourselves and seek gain are consumed by the fire poured out.

But the day does come that God’s elect and ultimately all men will return with the wine and summer fruit to be enjoyed by all:

Zec 14:8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Next week Lord willing, we will continue into Chapter 4 where the Lord will begin and are  dragging us off the mountain of Samaria and to Himself using fishhooks.

The Precious Gift of Faith

James 1:16-17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. 18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

Most that profess to know God are truly deceived. They do not heed nor even understand this warning from James. Only God is good. It is only by His Will we receive any gifts or truth of heavenly things. We are sown in bodies in corruption in the likeness and weakness of sinful flesh. Born slaves to sin, no good thing comes from within us unless the Lord does the initiation. As the Apostle James wrote above, every good and perfect gift comes down from our heavenly Father. This includes our faith and belief in God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The gift of faith is not even our own faith, it the faith OF Jesus Christ.  It is the faith OF Christ that becomes our faith.   As Christ is so we are in this world!

Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:
“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

Faith is truly a gift from God. This gift is only revealed unto God’s chosen ones in their appointed times. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the WORD of God. What this means is God must give us the ears to even hear HIS words. The gift of faith is free. Yet it is not for everyone to receive based on when they decide to receive it. Like all gifts, the giver of the gift determines when and how the gift is imparted. If the recipient of a gift got to choose when they got it, then a gift is not a gift but rather becomes an entitlement. That is pretty much how the carnal minded church views this amazing gift of God. They can “name it and claim it” whenever they decide, or so they think in their carnal mind. We are certainly living in an entitlement society at least in the western countries so what else is new under the sun. But the Scriptures and God both say this view of the gift is an error.

The purpose of this post is to show the truth on the gift and in so doing preach the gospel of faith to this world. May God give ears to hear this message of truth to those He has predestinated to hear it. God has brought many of us together here at Truth In Scripture. We are just a part of the larger Body of Christ called and chosen and the recipient of this wonderful gift of faith. Having been predestinated or chosen to receive it before the world was formed; we have received a tremendous blessing to be the firstfruits of the harvest and salvation of all men. This is the way God’s impartation of faith has always worked. Jesus does indeed build His church in His appointed times.

ACTS 13:48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed

Until the Lord is revealed unto our hearts we will never come to believe this truth and have this faith on our own. One can spot a false teacher in seconds based on how they handle the truth on this amazing gift. When man gets credit and is the one who chooses to have faith, then the speaker is yet carnal and has not the power of God working in them. Salvation will come to all men in the appointed time; this is the promise of God He swore on an oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This salvation which comes by faith is an inheritance. When someone inherits something, they had absolutely nothing to do with their newly found riches. Such are inherited gifts given to men as the Book of Ephesians declares.

Ephesians 1:11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

This makes the adoption by our Father Abba that much more special, knowing it was all from HIM.

Many hear this word of God preached but have not the gift of faith. Without such faith it is impossible to please God and many zealously pursue the things of God but without knowledge that is accessed only by this gift of faith. But when the WORD is combined with this precious gift, ONLY THEN comes the revelation and we enter into the door that is Christ and find the promised rest for the people of God.

Hebrews 4:2 -3 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said,

“ As I swore in My wrath,
They shall not enter My rest,”

Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. The Scriptures tell us in the examples of old Israel that they could not enter into this rest because of their unbelief. They had not been given the gift of faith that only comes to the chosen few.

Hebrews 3:18-19 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

The promise given to the father of all faith Abraham was prepared before the world began as even the lamb was slain in that time. All men will be redeemed back to God in the appointed time. This is the blessed hope for the ages to come and eternity when all creatures shall be singing praises and bowing to the glory of God.

Revelation 5:13 And EVERY CREATURE which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

As was shown in many of the prior post comments, every creature means exactly what it says, every creature. This includes even the devil and the demons that were made and used for the very purposes of bringing about God’s plan of creation and reconciliation. Man it’s going to be good. Far greater blessing to those chosen few who are given this truth now by the impartation of faith in God.

WHAT IS FAITH

Faith has been greatly complicated and confused by carnal man, especially of the religious persuasion. Faith simply defined is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. www.dictionary.com defines faith this way.

faith,

noun

1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another’s ability.

2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.

3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims.

I love that word confidence. That is what I now have, full unwavering confidence. This only comes from God and once given to a man leaves ZERO doubt. Trust is another very good definition for faith. When a man has faith, they have absolutely 100% trust in God and His promises. The fact that all men are saved is already settled in heaven and we will not even debate such heresy to the contrary. We will trust fully in the Father and His Son Jesus to accomplish all His good works in their appointed time. This brings real freedom and peace and a joy that truly is inexpressible.

But I want you to notice one more thing about “faith” and its definition. Faith is a NOUN. It is not a verb or an action. Faith is not an action. Faith is a possession. It is something we hold in our hearts and stand upon as the guiding truth of our lives. Once faith is received you will never ever let go of this precious gift. This faith will keep you on the straight and narrow path, confidently trusting and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, the savior of all men. This is very good if you can receive it.

The great chapter on Faith in Hebrews 11, tells us of this precious possession that the true Patriarchs of God held dear. It was only by faith that we all shall be saved. But this gospel is preached even to dead people sitting in graves so says the Lord. But what a treasure to receive it now by the will of our heavenly Father. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is by this faith that we do all the things we do for God. Whether it be obey, warn, receive, preach, etc, all these are done in faith and by faith. Those who come to God must really and truly believe that HE is the Great I Am. Know that all things are held in His Mighty Hands.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We can do nothing for God without this given faith. Believing on the Lord means that we are trusting God to deliver on all of His promises. Faith is believing that God will do what He said, that He will be faithful to His Covenants, even if we are not. I have some good news for you, very good news. It does not depend on us and our faithfulness. God is faithful to His covenants and promises, all of them.

2 TIM 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself

Without faith it is impossible to please God. This is because, without faith, a man will lean on his own understandings and trust in his own works and effort to bring about the will of God. But you see, God does all the work in our lives. He directs ever single step we take. God is letting us live in the darkness so that when He does give us this gift; we will truly know and appreciate His goodness. He is indeed that powerful that Jesus used the example that not even a bird falls from the sky outside of the will of our Father.

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps

I need to be brief here but I also want all to know that each of us are given a measure of faith based on God’s design and greater purposes. Not all receive the same gifts or the measures of the gifts. This needs to be its own topic and will one day. But I have come to appreciate the uniqueness each of us in the Body of Christ have as it relates to the gifts, including that of faith.

1 COR 12:4-5 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.

I have now been given a strong measure of faith and it has come from God. Perhaps God is going to use me to bring encouragement to others going through trials and afflictions. I don’t know for certain what today or even tomorrow will bring, but I look forward to going where He sends me and using these gifts to edify the Body of Christ, the true saints of God.

Romans 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift

Faith is a gift. Faith is a noun. It is all of God and man has nothing to do with it. Those who have ears will have heard these words.

The New Birth

The result of God giving us this wonderful gift of faith, is the new birth that results. God is the Master Potter and we are likened to pieces of clay. We are born as natural men with natural bodies. Yet God’s plan was to make us in a two step process that He designed. Carnal man will want to argue with the Potter on what and how He makes us but we will learn to just trust Him and believe the Scriptures.

Jeremiah 18:3-5 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!

Praise God. We truly are in His Holy Hands.

We come in as natural bodies, a seed of what is far more glorious to come. We shall surely die God told Adam. We all must die to be raised anew in the likeness of our Lord and Savior. This promise will not be fully fulfilled until the ages to come and only a few get the down payment of this promised inheritance here in this life.

John 12:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

Paul spoke about the grand plan of the Potter also echoing the same words of Jesus.

1 COR 15:37-38 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” 36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain. 38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

This mystery of godliness and how Christ is formed into us cannot be comprehended by the carnal mind. It is only understood when God imparts His precious gift of faith to the chosen few. The bible scholars and religious zealots will never ever see it. Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, an esteemed teacher of the Scriptures who was quickly shown to be blind as a bat to the true heavenly wisdom.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

This mysterious work of the potter is done to rebirth us into spiritual people. This is all the work of God by the circumcision made without hands. God does this to those He chooses in their appointed time. Man has no say so on the timing of their rebirth. It is all by the Spirit of God. Here is how Jesus answered the carnal minded Nicodemus regarding how this transformation and rebirth would occur. No free will choice in this answer!

John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Lastly on this topic of the new birth, let’s consider the strong clarity with which Paul spoke of these great mysteries of the Master Potter. First comes the natural man and then the spiritual man.

1 COR 15:42-45 The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

The above Scriptures along with a hundred others fly directly in the face of the heretics that speak against the doctrine of Original Sin. Man is absolutely brought into this world as a sinning machine that cannot help but practice sin. That is the selfish nature of a natural man. This man will be remade into a new man in God’s appointed time. The beginnings of this is the impartation of faith by the Lord.

1 COR 15:46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

Those With Faith Profess Jesus As Lord

The true gospel is hated by the carnal man. His mind is at enmity with God and is repulsed at the idea that it is God alone who chooses to whom He imparts spiritual gifts. This election of a group of people by grace, is the called out remnant that is the true church of Christ and His bride. This is very few people overall but in total represent the Body of Christ on this earth. This body is given power of the Holy Spirit and the gift of faith is salted with fire to go preach this gospel to the ends of the earth.

The world will hate those that God has chosen. They will reject us and persecute us at every turn, speaking evil of the good news and glad tidings we preach. But we will preach it anyway as we no longer live for the approval of men.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

One of the most well known lines in the entire Bible is this one, which speaks a major pillar of truth.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast

Those of us that have been blessed to receive this unmerited gift from God can spot false teachers miles away. As soon as we see someone speaking of faith as an action a man takes, we know they are still bound in spiritual darkness. No other discernment is necessary, it is indeed that easy. The power of an almighty God is always denied by those still in the flesh.

Paul said something very provocative that is missed by the carnal mind.

1 COR 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

What Paul was saying here is that nobody calls Jesus Lord, in spirit and in truth, without having the Holy Spirit inside of them. This is confirmation of the essential truth that faith is a gift. The Holy Spirit is only given as a gift and it is only by the Spirit that one can express true faith.

There are many that profess faith and that claim Jesus is Lord but their testimony is not valid. In their works they deny Him. These are those Jesus will say depart from me, I never knew you on the last day.

The preponderance of evidence and the full council of God makes this clear. I will provide at least 10 witnesses below to this immutable truth that the Holy Spirit and by extension faith is totally a gift of God. Man has nothing to do with it. But what is so glorious is that when God truly gives you something, you know it was from Him. You don’t need to see it in a book, because your spirit testifies of the origins of the gift.

Romans 3:10-14 I will continue to show this Scripture often as it contains powerful truth that proud people have a hard time accepting at face value. But when they are humbled, they will see it and rejoice.

As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.
13 “Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known

John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Jesus does all the choosing. He builds His church, man does not build it, and they only toil in vain and unbelief.

Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Our Father loves us and gives His children good gifts, including faith and salvation. AMEN

ACTS 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth

God calls His witnesses. He alone awakens us to righteousness. True faith always comes with POWER. There is a lot of powerless Christianity out there today.

ACTS 2:23-24 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

Again we see the origins of all gifts having come from the Father in their appointed time. We don’t decide what gifts we get and when. If we do not have this power working in us, we are none of His yet.

ACTS 10:45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.

The early church freaked out when they came to realize that God had poured the same gift into the gentiles that was given to them. They could see it was all of God and not of any man’s choosing.

ACTS 2:38-39 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Getting the Holy Spirit is a gift. Does anyone want to really dispute that now? This gift follows the gift of faith. If faith was man’s doing and choosing, then it could rightly be said that we give the Holy Spirit to ourselves by our own action. Do you see the foolishness of such carnal thinking?

ACTS 19:32This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

This immutable truth is everywhere once you see it. Three times is the charm it is said. But make no mistake, the Father gives us faith and by extension pours out the Holy Spirit into our hearts.

John 7:37-39 If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified

Here we see Jesus directly linking FAITH with RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT. It is all the work of God. Do you see it? Will you start to believe in this gospel and the goodness of our Father in heaven?

Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

Whose will is it to give all of these gifts? It is not man’s will, it is God’s. To HIM goes all the glory.

EPH 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory

Believing and having the Holy Spirit go hand in glove. Believing is true faith and it always comes with the Holy Spirit and with fire. There is power and boldness that come with the real deal given from God.

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire

I am on fire for God now. No more lukewarm Pete. The words God gives me to speak are the fire and they will burn the wood up that they are sent to burn. Thank you Jesus.

So my friends, I love all of you, especially those that share with me this precious gift of faith given to us by God. We must stick together and encourage and strengthen one another in these evil days and the increasing persecution and rejection of the true faith. It is a lonely walk but I have been greatly encouraged by my being dragged out of Babylon. God has sent you to me to give Pete encouragement at just the right time. I am here for any of you, to give back what was given to me.

Let us not exalt one another or think more highly of ourselves than we should. None of us are good, only God is good. Let us rejoice in our partaking of these great and special promises of the Lord. Let us celebrate His goodness and treasure the gifts He has so freely poured upon His Elect. There will be unity in the church of Jesus Christ. He is bringing His children together.

1 COR 12 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Carnal Man Always Denies God’s Power

1 COR 3:1-4 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?

Until we are truly converted by the power of God at HIS choosing in the appointed time,  we will be unable to understand the deep things of God.  Very few are converted as this is ONLY for God’s Elect as the Scriptures declare.  That is who the Scriptures are written for and the carnal man will be ever learning but never able to come to knowledge of the truth.  We have seen this play out on this website in the comments since I myself was converted and began to preach the true gospel.

There really is true unity of the ONE FAITH that is only received as a GIFT from an all-powerful God.    There are no divisions in the Body of Christ.  The same God planted the same gift of faith into all of our hearts.  But a carnal man who thinks faith is something they do and act upon on their own initiatives will strive and contend and divide amongst themselves, arguing the things they have no true understanding about.  The natural (also known as carnal) man cannot receive the deep things of God until they become converted and walk by the Spirit.

1 COR 2:14  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned

There truly is no boasting from any man except that they know the Lord if they are indeed the recipient of this wonderful gift of faith.  The carnal man always asks the question then why do you preach?  The short answer is because God sends us to preach, He calls us and we follow.  But you can also see it here also in 1 COR 3 as Paul explained why they preach.

1 COR 3:5-8  Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are ONE (unity of faith), and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.

We preach this gospel because God opens ears to those who hear it and that is how God brings about giving the gift of faith.  But we also see that those converted and called by God are working for a reward, a crown of righteousness we see elsewhere.  Salvation is already assured for all men, that is settled in heaven long ago.  We serve God and preach this gospel to obey the one we have now been enslaved to, knowing that if we endure we shall receive a just reward and will rule and reign with Christ in the next age here on the earth.

Jesus spoke to carnal religious people all the time.  They constantly attacked Him and challenged Him using Scripture.  But they were yet carnal and knew not the things of God.  They had no idea of God’s power and they always limited God in their unbelief.  They could not believe He was the Messiah and the Son of God.  The same things is happening today and these Scriptures are written for our admonition.

Matthew 22:29 You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God

But thru all of the preaching of Christ and the disciples that followed, some,  few,  those appointed by God to hear came to know the truth and believe in this glorious gospel, calling on the name of the Lord.

With this background I want to review just some of the Scripture that makes clear that man has no free will to choose God.  That is religion, an invention of the carnal mind of man that has Man seeking after God.  But the true faith and ways of God is that God comes to man based on His election and appointment of time.  Let them be given ears to hear Lord in their appointed time.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

This is strong if you see it.  This shows God CAUSES us to walk in obedience.  This is what a new heart, given only by the will of God will do for a man.  Read the whole chapter that describes this glorious promise of God.  Notice all the I WILL’s, showing it is all the work of God.  Notice also why God does it.

Ezekiel 36:22-23 Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.  23 And I will sanctify My great name

It is not for our sake but it is for His sake as it brings glory to God and magnifies His name.  Go read Ezekiel 36 to see this powerful promise from the Most High God.

Psalm 139:16 Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me , When as yet there was none of them.

The whole plan of God’s creation was predetermined.  Every step,  every man,  every bird,  every word,  nothing was left to chance.  Our God is indeed ALL POWERFUL.  The carnal man has a hard time grasping the unlimited power of God.

Psalm 23:1-2 The Lord is my shepherd,  I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures.

Go makes us lie down in His rest.  When He decides, it is going to happen.  But this is all for our own good and I for one am praising God for making me lie in His pasture of richness, rest and wisdom.  Thank you Jesus.

Psalm 149:49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope

Again my friends.  Our hope only comes by FAITH and this a gift from God so that no man can boast.

Ephesians  2:10  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Whose work are we?  We are His workmanship.  We are pieces of clay and He is the Master Potter.  It was prepared before the world even began.  That is how powerful and mighty our great God is.

Romans 6:20-23 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. 22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.

A slave has no ability to free themselves from slavery or to change masters from the devil to God. This is all the work of God but man continues to deny His power. God’s will is the sanctification of all men. This will happen. An almighty GOD will make sure and physical death is certainly no obstacle as the gospel declares.   Kind of silly to think a slave is in control!

Romans 3;10  There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one

I don’t know about you,  but simple math tells me NONE is NONE.  ZERO, NADA, ZIP.  There is not a single man who chooses to have faith and follow after God.  Did we not teach basic math to our children?  I am being facetious (humorous) of course.  It is God’s way to keep men blind until He chooses.  All revelation comes from the Most High.  Paul’s letter to the Ephesians was speaking to those spiritually wise that had been chosen of God and given these wonderful gifts.  Paul spoke of these good things of the Father given to the sons of God.

Ephesians 1:15  Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,  16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened

Mine eyes have been enlightened by these GIFTS of the Father.  Now I know what the writer of the song meant who wrote “mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord”.  This coming is revealed inside of us, to our heart.  Christ IN US,  the hope of glory.

Exodus 4:11  And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

Who is it that makes man speak?  Who made man’s mouth?  Who makes people blind and who makes them see?  This applies spiritually and as you can see, it is ALL OF GOD not man.

Proverbs 16:1  The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

Lest you still doubted that God works ALL things, including all the words we speak,  here you see it again.  Carnal man’s theology has no defense when lined up with Scripture.

Proverbs 16:3-4  The Lord has made everything for its own purpose, Even the wicked for the day of evil.

We showed that God created evil lately and even makes wicked people to bring about His plan of salvation for all men.  But most still will not believe.

Proverbs 16:9   The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Man may think he is directing his steps and choosing to do or not to do things.  But it really all is in the hands of a mighty and ALL POWERFUL God.  Those that think it is “them” do not believe this gospel and deny the power of God every single time they defend their unbelief.

Jeremiah 18:2-6  “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will announce My words to you.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something on the wheel. 4 But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.

God does NOT make mistakes but He does have the right to make whatever He chooses.  He is GOD.  Let God be true and every man a liar.  God is God and will do what He pleases.  We need to come to understand that all of His works are for good, all the time.

5 Then the word of the Lord came to me saying, 6 “Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.

Man is not directing his steps.  We all are in the hands of the Master Potter.  Let’s look at some more Potter and Clay verses.

Isaiah 29:16  Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?

Carnal man in his foolish religion brings Christ down and exalts man at every turn.  But as these Scriptures all declare,  it is all the work of God whether man believes it or not.  Carnal man will deny that God has made them exactly as they are now.  It was ALL ordained of God.

Isaiah 64:8  But now, O Lord, You are our Father, we are the clay, and You our potter; and all of us are the work of Your hand. 9 Do not be angry beyond measure, O Lord, Nor remember iniquity forever; Behold, look now, all of us are Your people.

The Lord has made us in vessels of weak flesh.  This was all on purpose so God can mold and shape us into the image of His Son.  This way God gets all the glory and His name is magnified into the heavens.  We truly can do nothing, even believe the gospel, on our own initiative.  Jesus could DO NOTHING,  the Son of God our Father.  What makes man think he can do anything?

John 5:30  I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

But the carnal man will never ever be able to see it.  They can’t see it even if one declared it to them like I am doing right now.  This revelation can only come from the Father.

John 15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit

Jesus makes it pretty clear who chooses who.  We don’t choose God.  All the drawing near and all the giving of faith is a gift and the work of an almighty God.  Amazing that a carnal man can look at this verse and still deny it.  Amazing how strong the blindness God puts over eyes.

John 10:3  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out

The GOOD SHEPHERD calls us out of Babylon by name.  Many have not yet been called out and they are the ones that will oppose and attack this true gospel of faith as a gift and salvation for all men.

Phil 2:13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure

It begins to get redundant but who is it that works and will in each of us for HIS good pleasure?  It is God and not man.  Man has no choice in the matter.  If they hear His voice it is because God reveals Himself to them.  If they do not hear, it is because they are still blinded and bound in unbelief by the will of the almighty God.  They are not yet of God and will never ever be able to understand it until God acts.

Romans 5:5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

They are all gifts freely given by God to who HE chooses.  Carnal man keeps arguing that they are not a robot and God can’t force anyone to love Him.  Oh yes He can and that is exactly what God does.  Nobody is good but God. Love is poured into our new hearts only by the gift of the Holy Spirit.  We don’t decide to love God as all these wonderful Scriptures declare.  The Spirit is given to us and it is only by that Spirit that love comes into our heart.

Romans 11:32  For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.

People like to blame the Jews and enjoy saying they are all going to an eternal hell.  But those that say such nonsense do not know the Lord.  They do not see that this disobedience and unbelief was all the work of God.  He did it on purpose and tells us why right here, so that He can show mercy to all men by saving them in the end.  Now that is a good God whose love never fails and whose mercy endures forever!!

Romans 9:18  So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires

A great chapter about the plan and absolute sovereignty of the Master Potter.  God chooses who sees and He chooses who does not see.  But know in the appointed time, all will see and all knees shall bow to God for His glory.  It is finished.

Eph 2:1  And you hath HE quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins

Who brought the Elect out of spiritual darkness and into this marvelous light of this gospel?  It is God who chooses to adopt His sons and He does it while we are still dead in our sins.  Do you see it?

ACTS 13:48  and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed

This shows the early church and those who came to believe after hearing the foolish sermons from Peter, Paul and the other disciples.  But those that believed were ordained by GOD to believe just as this Scripture says.

ACTS 2:47  And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

People did not choose to believe.  They heard this gospel and then God chooses who is saved and when.  But make no mistake; all will be saved in the end.

Col 1:17  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

This verse describes Jesus.  What part of ALL things do we not understand?  All the world is held together in the power of Christ.  He is the creator.  We limit God every time our carnal mouth speaks.  We can’t help it; it is all in the potter’s hands.

Isaiah 45:5  I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

Just to be clear, this shows that God is girding (controlling all movements) of all men, even the ones that do not know Him yet.  This is by far the vast majority of people as only few shall find the way to eternal life this side of the grave.

Col 1:29  Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Paul never boasted that it was his will or his choosing.  He knew as do all of us that have been converted by the power of God, that this wonderful work is all of God and not of ourselves and our choosing.

1 Thess 1:4-5 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. 5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Oh yes.  Standing on the Rock and living in the true word in our heart will bring power.  I speak with power never before seen from Pete.  I speak with boldness and confidence, full assurance, zero doubt of what God has done and His willingness and ability to bring to pass all His promises.  This includes the salvation of all men.   When God gives you a gift,  you know it.   It comes with power and with much assurance.  I can now stand and proclaim this gospel boldly knowing it is true.

1 John 5:1  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

All that truly are in the faith were begotten of HIM,  by GOD.  He chose us, we did not choose Him.  He chose us out of this world and commissioned us to go and bear fruit and this fruit will remain.  Nobody is going to snatch me out of His hands, and I mean nobody.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Ah,  the Master Potter working all things, ALL THINGS for the greater good.  He is a wonderful loving and good God. As an adopted son,  I can call Him Abba and know I have an inheritance of all the things of the Kingdom.  That is good.

Romans 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Those that come to faith in this body of flesh, will be few, they are the Elect, the chosen of God.  But all of this was predetermined from the foundations of the world.  As has been said, it is not of merit it is totally a gift from the Potter.  I receive it Lord and I hope I will be worthy of the calling you have now placed upon my life and the life of the other Saints.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the only way to come to the truth. Yet we know that nobody can even come to Jesus unless the Father wills. (John 6:44).

Matthew 20:34  So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him

These blind men did not heal their own eyes.  God does all the healing, even opening up spiritual eyes and removing the veil of unbelief that hides this true gospel from the multitudes.

Titus 3:4-7  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

This is God’s purposes for election.  It is all of His choosing and given only by His mercy. Man has absolutely no say so in this.

Romans 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

What make men repent and turn to God is their understanding the goodness of the Lord and His kindness and enduring love.  That is why we repent.  Nobody truly repents to avoid an eternal punishment which is false and creates an image of a false cruel and merciless God.  God must give you the eyes to see this goodness that HE is.  When He opens your eyes,  all the scales and false images and doctrines will fall to the ground. You like me, will be utterly ashamed in that day but yet thru the tears of mourning will be exceedingly glad.  You will come to see God in His glory and goodness.  Man is it good.

COL 2:11,13 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Man does not do surgery on his own heart.  This is all the work of God.  NO FLESH and NO HANDS involved and because of this, man has no say so in the timing of this surgery.  It is all in God’s appointed time.

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

God does all the quickening.  This means to unveil the truth of the WORD in our hearts.  He plants it and He reveals the understanding, instantly based on my experience and the stories in the Scriptures.

Jeremiah 24For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. 7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

Again we see the promise of the NEW COVENANT.  Notice all the “I Will’s” speaking of God doing the work and the total absence of “YOU WILL”.  Man has absolutely nothing to do with salvation.

Jonah 2:9  Salvation is of the Lord.

HE is the Savior.  His arm is not too short to save and will save all in the end.  It is written.  In the first sermon ever preached, Peter spoke of this promise that God would pour out His Spirit ON ALL.  He will do it in the appointed time.  At the end of this sermon,  Pete is asked by the people who were still carnal in their understanding what shall they do?  He answered and explained that if they turn their hearts to this good and loving God who is faithful to His promises, they shall be saved.   All will turn in time but salvation is in the hands and timing of the Master Potter.

ACTS 2:38  Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Do you see this promise is for all, even those of us today “far off”, 2000 years later.  But it only comes to those the LORD calls and chooses.  In the end, God gets it done.  All men are saved.  Knowing this, one can live a life of love, sowing mercy to all being set free from all fear and the worry of having to save ourselves.  The Spirit of God will lead us into obedience as the Scriptures say when we truly come to believe this gospel.  I hope you will be pulled out of darkness as today is the day of salvation for some.

So I hope this list of Scriptures and my brief explanation will give those of you who still do not believe this glorious gospel something to think about.  There are many more that show the truth of God doing the choosing in the appointed time.  This just scratches the surface.  Study these Scriptures, take it to the Lord in prayer.  May the God of all grace and supplications and spiritual blessings show you favor and open the eyes in the appointed time.

We all belong to God.  Whether we live or whether we die,  let’s do it unto the Lord.

1 COR 3:21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:

faith

Fighting the Good Fight of Faith

Salvation through the narrow way is a difficult journey.  It is a calling given to a chosen few by God to accomplish His purposes upon this earth.  It is a fight against darkness.  The righteous shall walk and live by faith in all that God has done and has promised.  I want to share some thoughts on this fight and the weapons of our warfare.  I pray it blesses those who have eyes to see.

1 TIM 6:11-12 But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called

It is the power of the Cross of Christ that saves all men.  All shall be made alive in the end by this spiritual gift and blessing of an Almighty Good God. But those God chooses now must fight using the weapons God provides to lay hold of the eternal life right now.  This is the place of the true Sabbath rest when we cease from our own works and only do what our Master tell us to do.  His yoke is indeed easy and His burden is light.  This is because of His awesome power working through those He has ordained to eternal life right now.

Carnal man believes the power is in their ability and their decision to choose Christ on their own initiative.  But they can truly doing nothing on their own initiative.  Recent posts have shown in scores of places that man does not come to God and that it is all grace, the power of God that draws men to Jesus Christ.  Slaves of sin do not decide to free themselves as indeed they are slaves and held in bonds they cannot break.  All is in the hands of the Master Potter.  Pieces of clay cannot decide for themselves.  We all are God’s workmanship, even those that do not know Him yet (ISA 45:5).  Even Jesus could do nothing on His own initiative.  He was in the hands of His Father, who is also our Father in heaven.

John 5:30  I can of Myself do nothing

Nothing is not a complicated word.  It means nothing, nada, zip.  Pontius Pilate saw only through the prism of carnal logic and actually believed he was in control when speaking to Jesus.  Jesus corrected this man who lived in spiritual darkness.

John 19:10-11 Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do you not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?”

11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above.

All things happen for a reason and the purposes of God.  He indeed is working all things out for the greater good of those who love Him. Eventually that will include all men and creatures that Jesus created.  But to see this and believe this now is power.  Moses came to see and to know that the very Lord who created him was the one who makes the mouths of each man speak.

Exodus 4:11  So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?

But carnal men cannot comprehend these things.  Such will always limit the power of God.

When freed of our bondage to sin by the mercy of the Lord’s choosing, we will instinctively, be bearing our new hearts from God and witnessing for Jesus Christ.  This is what Pete is now finally doing having been delivered from the kingdom of darkness.  I have been enlisted in God’s army and have become a true Soldier of the Cross.

2 TIM 2:3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Such soldiers will be given the armor and weapons of the Lord do to battle.

The purposes of the soldiers are to defend the true gospel and to take its life giving power to overcome darkness to the ends of this earth.  When the Lord is truly leading a man, such a man has a confidence and a boldness that defies the carnal mind’s understanding.  This can typically be looked upon as arrogance but it is not, it is simply boldness, knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ has come, is risen and has already saved the entire world.  Praise God Forevermore.

1 COR 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel–not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

The power is in the cross.  The power of faith and salvation is all in the blood of Jesus Christ, given to all men.  But so few believe this in actuality; even those that claim the name of God.  Many false gospels of self-will, self-righteousness and an eternal hell,  all have one thing in common.  They all empty the cross of its power and by default deny Jesus is the Christ.

Many profess to be soldiers for the cross but they actually work against the purposes of God and point away from the cross and its absolute POWER to save all men.  They are mere stooges in the Potter’s hands and their folly will be shown for what it is in due time.  Their works shall all be burnt up yet they themselves shall be saved but as thru fire.  Those given eyes to see by God can spot such a mile away.  But the good things is we also can spot the real deal, the true soldiers of the cross and this is who we long to fellowship with.

Phil 3 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.

Virtually all those that I had interacted with for the past several years were all of a like mind that denies the power of the cross.  We did not do such a thing literally with our carnal words, but we most certainly did with the underlying beliefs that brought Christ down and exalted man in the plan of salvation.  The pretenders are bringing glory to themselves and stealing from God.  Their end will be destruction, which we now know is not an eternal hell but a fire that will consume the adversaries of God resulting in their ultimate sanctification.  In that we will trust and will rejoice always.

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Very few people have on all the pieces of this armor.  But to truly be a warrior for God,  we must have them all on or we can readily be defeated and overcome.  What does this armor of God really mean?  Most think this just an intellectual ascent that Jesus is the Lord, but it truly is much more than that.  I want to review in my own words of how I have come to see the weapons of the Lord given to all who believe in Him and ALL of God’s promises.

 1.  Breastplate of Righteousness:  Quite simply this is LOVE AND MERCY in your heart for all men.  This is the peaceable fruit of righteousness.  Knowing that God is love, a true agape sacrificial love and it is only by that love we exists,  then we will want to be like our Father.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness

2. Sandals of Peace:  Our walk is to bring peace to people, to show them the goodness of God and the glory of God’s plan for mankind.  He truly is the Prince of Peace not a cruel monster that torments people forever in a hell chamber.  We pursue peace with all men with this good news message, knowing that without this as our driving life force, no man shall see the Lord (Heb 12:14) in this present evil age.

and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace

3.  Shield of Faith:  This is simply put; standing on the ROCK that is Christ and His precious promises and covenants.  This is the only way one will achieve the divine nature of Christ.  Yet God is faithful even when mankind is not.  When you truly come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the whole world, then and only then are you carrying this shield.  You will then be fearless knowing all is settled in heaven.

Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the     wicked one.

4. Helmet of Salvation:  This is putting on the mind of Christ.  God will be speaking to His people.  His sheep really do hear His voice and they follow Him.  We will do nothing on our own initiative but will follow where the Lord shall lead us.  This is this helmet given now to the chosen few.

And take the helmet of salvation

5.  Sword of the Spirit:  It is the living word of Christ formed inside of our hearts that is this sword.  It is not the dead letter pages of the Bible by itself.  But when Christ appears to us, we are made alive and given new hearts and are sent to preach this gospel in all boldness.  This is the sword of the Spirit.  The words of Jesus are life and when spoken out, will not return void, they will accomplish their purposes.  This sword will destroy all false pretenses and the devil will flee from it.

And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Much more could be said but I wanted to just provide the cliff notes of my new understanding.  God is doing a great work in many of us right now.  In that I praise Him and in that I rejoice.  We all need to edify one another and encourage each other just as we have been doing of late.  This world is going to create battles and obstacles for each of us to continue on our military mission for Christ.  We must stay the course.  We cannot and will not get the victory with a carnal mind using carnal logic.  It says so right here.

2 COR 10:4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,  5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

We must walk by faith and trust in the supernatural power of God to give us what we need in the time that we need it.  That is grace, the power of God working through His saints.  In my short journey I have found this to be so very true.  All these false pretenses that come into my mind or are used by carnal men to attack the truth, are utterly destroyed when we walk wearing this armor that only God can give to us.

2 TIM 2:4   No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

Once enlisted by the Lord, we should never get ourselves entangled back in the things of this world.  Many will come to try our faith and bring strife, dissensions and the like to bring our dead flesh back to life to defend itself or its honor.  But a dead man, now enlisted in God’s army will stay dead; they have been crucified with Christ.  The life they are now living is not for themselves but for the one who has called them and is mighty to save all men.  This is the Lord.

Paul likened this walk to a good fight and a marathon race.  We will be poked at, hated, rejected, scourged, accused and all manner of evil spoken of us, yet we must persevere to the very end.  Knowing that all men shall be saved in the very end, I can now preach this good news gospel.  It is through sharing God’s goodness and demonstrating that in our deeds that we will turn the hearts of the broken lost sheep back to the true loving God who always delights in showing them mercy.  Such a walk submitted unto the Lord, is the good fight and one that will result in a special crown of righteousness in the ages to come for those who finish.  May I be found worthy!

2 TIM 4:6-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

I have loved the Lord’s revealing of Himself to me in my heart.  It will change your life and my prayer is that all that God has chosen in this generation will be strengthened and encouraged in the battles we will fight in the days to come.

Love to all the Saints.
