The Two Covenants – Part 2

The Two Covenants Part 2

(Compiled from studies and posts by the elders)

We have looked at the law of the letter and the Law of the Spirit in Part 1. Today, we look a little more at the perfect Law of Liberty, the Renewed Covenant that is in Christ’s blood.

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Perfect Love

1Jn 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

What is this perfect love? This word “perfect” is being used in the context of matured love, a complete love and a love that is full of age Greek 5048 (from 5046 & 5056), as opposed to an immature childish love. Perfect love is the opposite of the love that focuses on all things aside from the true Christ, the love of the world and all things in it.

1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Perfection in the Spirit, is when maturity and or completeness is the end goal, that we be thoroughly furnished unto all good works, that is, to be as our Father, which is in heaven IS perfect (Mat 5:48, 2Co 13:9, 2Ti 3:16-17). We, however, receive the fullness of the Spirit only when we are physically resurrected with Christ Lord willing.

“Perfect love” is keeping Christ’s Word, the means unto that Perfection.

Psa 119:96 I have seen an end of all perfection: [but] thy commandment is exceeding broad.

Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.
Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: [of perfection] but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before (ASV).

Perfect love of God is perfect hatred to all that oppose Christ and are contrary to the ways of God, the Father, His Son and His Christ.

Psa 139:21 Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

Psa 139:22 I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies. (ASV)

Obedience to the doctrine of Christ is how this love is being perfected, and we are to press on towards it. As our obedience is fulfilled, this love grows in us as we abide in the doctrine of Christ. It is love that grows and is abounding into perfection.

2Co 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

1Th 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

This perfect love “casts out fear”, and fear is contrasted with boldness. John is inspired to emphasize the end goal:

Joh 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Fear of whom should we be concerned with to be casting out of our heavens and earth?

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

1Jn 2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

False prophets and antichrists prophesy (1Co 14:3) falsely to deceive us within and without who do not confess the true Name of Christ.

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

1Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore, speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

Fear of them that seduce you, fear of the antichrists, fear of they of the world, which is all briefly comprehended in saying, the fear of men.

Pro 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

The spirit of antichrist that is bringing great fear to us, requires vigilance to cast out. This is the Pharisee within and without, always accusing us. Paul, was exceedingly mad against the Living Church at first. The carnal mind wants to rule and have preeminence.

Act 26:10 Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

Act 26:11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

3Jn 1:9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

3Jn 1:10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

He that fears is not being made perfect in love. What type of fear did John witness in the days of his flesh? John saw there was fear of the Jews. We do not want to die daily.

Joh 7:12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Joh 7:13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

John saw a disciple of Jesus in fear of the Jews as he himself also was and the rest:

Joh 19:38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

Joh 20:19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Three times we read John write for fear of the Jews. John knew what fear of men really entails; how it manifests, and how that fear is a snare holding many in bondage to be slaves of unrighteousness and slaves of lies.

Isa 57:11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?

And it is continuing to be fulfilled in every generation, as it was in the days of John when he saw the cause of the fear that was in men causing the denying of Christ and His Christ within and without.

Joh 12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

Joh 12:43 For they loved the praise [fear] of men more than the praise [fear] of God.

The praise of men is linked to the fear of men. The praise of God is linked to the fear of God. No man can serve both. One has to be cast out (Mat 6:24). Fear, is, was and will be cast out when our obedience is being fulfilled, day by day for the rest of our lives in earthen clay vessels Lord willing. Fear of men, that is contrary to the fear of God, inhibits us from obedience to God.

Isa 8:12 Say ye not, A conspiracy, concerning all whereof this people shall say, A conspiracy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be in dread thereof.

Isa 8:13 Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Heb 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

We are given an example of one apostle serving the Lord with boldness, with a more matured love having cast out the fear of men (one and the same as the fear of the Jews, of the circumcision) and another with less matured love fearing men and treasuring up torments for himself. This is us in the day of judgement which is now upon us.

Gal 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, [boldness in the day of Judgment] because he was to be blamed.

Gal 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.

Gal 2:13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Gal 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, [devoid of perfect love, obedience to the gospel], I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

Peter was in such dread of the circumcision (Pharisees), that he played the hypocrite. Fear caused him to live a lie for a moment and not fear God. Fear cause a lot of torments trapping people in unrighteousness, lies, hatred and it takes time to overcome as the natural instinct is to prefer the old wine from the changes of the new.

Luk 5:39 And no man having drunk old wine desireth new; for he saith, The old is good. (ASV)

Perfect love is a growing event, little by little, day unto day as fear of men decreases, is cast out of our hearts and minds, and our obedience in the fear of the Lord increases. Do not fear and dread this spirit, and this takes Christ in us (Act 9:26, Act 26:10-11). In the day of judgment when antichrist spirit, like Saul, from Tarsus, is persecuting us to strange cities and putting some to death, this is taking great boldness through the power of God in us, Christ, to “not be afraid”, a supernatural event simply because the fear of death is very natural and very real. Not being naturally afraid of the spirit of antichrist is one and the same thing as not being afraid or fearful of death. As John wrote many times, only “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col 1:27) is greater than any antichrist, seducers, deceivers and false prophets that is in the world. We overcome that fear of men or death in us by keeping His commandments.

Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, [thus the fear of death] that is, the devil;

Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

The power and fear of death that the children of the devil are temporarily given has no hold on Christ.

Joh 19:10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? [you do not fear me??!] knowest thou not that I have power [of death] to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?

Joh 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [of death and fear] at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore, he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Christ with boldness, told John and the other disciples earlier:

Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

The fear of men binds and delivers us into many prisons of the world’s system within and without. The torment and stripes the fear of men produces includes the bondage to the carnal mind (bondage to death – Rom 7:23-24, Rom 8:2) that the Lord is freeing us from in the day of our judgment. Christ is the mediator to bring us from the fear and power of death to the fear and power of God under the NT.

Luk 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, [of the fear of men] being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, [and all its power and fears] they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

That boldness Christ displayed in the face of death is what Paul refers to as a good confession, and we are striving for this every day and that is to fear Christ only.

1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

By having boldness in the day of judgment as a soldier of Christ, through perfect love.

1Ti 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

What is boldness in the Day of Judgment? Boldness for what?

In our day of judgement, the fear of men begins to be fading away because the riches of Christ are being esteemed far higher than the fear of men. Look at the example of Peter and John in the book of Acts.

Act 4:5 And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
Act 4:6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem …

Act 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus …

Act 4:17 But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

Act 4:18 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

Act 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them,

Here’s a demonstration of boldness in the day of judgement, and carnal fears, fear of men, spirits of many antichrists are being cast out.

Act 4:20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Act 4:21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

It takes great boldness to tell the Jews, then and now, and their carnal supporters, that God is making of twain one new man (Eph 2:14-16, Rom 2:28). Speaking the Word in boldness in the midst of religious antichrists is to speak without fear of men. Great boldness is needed because it is inevitable that there will be contentions, even at times, persecution unto death. Think within first.

1Ti 3:13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

To be in the faith of God’s elect, boldness is a requisite to enter into the faith, walk in the faith, live and die by the faith of Christ.

Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest [the pure faith of God’s elect] by the blood of Jesus,

Php 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

It takes the boldness of Christ in us to overcome the fear of men and confess a good witness, to speak the Truth as we ought to.

Php 1:14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

1Th 2:2 But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

Boldness is needed. Why? Because we do not know what tomorrow brings, we testify to the Gospel of grace.

Act 20:22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, [Paul showing us an example of great boldness] not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

Act 20:23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

Act 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Eph 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Eph 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Fear has torment. What is torment? Who fears?

The torment from the fear of false prophets, is only the one side of torment. Torment and pain is also coming from living under falsehood when we know the Truth. Knowing to do good, and doing it not for fear, is reserving one’s own punishment. There are consequences of disobedience to God’s Word that the natural man treasures up to himself wrath against the day of wrath unto the that Day (Rom 2:5-6).

Deu 28:58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that [Perfect love] thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, the Lord thy God;

Deu 28:59 Then the Lord will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.

Deu 28:60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, [deliver you unto Satan] which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.

Deu 28:61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the Lord bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Jer 2:19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.

These torments are stored up until the time the Lord delivers us through the destruction of the flesh. Just as we are being delivered from death through death, (Joh 12:24, Col 1:22, Heb 2:14) likewise, we, are and will be delivered, from ungodliness through the torment and pain of the destruction of the flesh, that is, the death of the cross. At the appointed time, the Lord teaches us His fear and dread by His Spirit.

Isa 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

Isa 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell [Gk: Sheol, the abode of death – the carnal mind] are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:

Many scorners and rulers of men within and without say in our hearts when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, …. when judgment day comes, it shall not come unto us, that is, we will not go through the heart-cleansing process of the wrath of God. This covenant with death, the fear of death, and all that it entails, are being destroyed today, if we are His.

Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

Isa 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulledand your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

It is all a demonstration of His Almighty power and age-lasting glory.

Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, [His fear] endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Psa 90:11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

It is all a process unto salvation within and without.

1Jn 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

That is how we are and always will be being saved through His consuming fire, so that the fear of the Lord becomes our fear, no more fear of men and or fear of death.

Isa 8:11 The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,

Isa 8:12 “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them.

Isa 8:13 Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life (New Living Translation).

How does obedience (perfect love) relate to suffering and boldness?

There is and was suffering for the disciples then and now in perfect love of the brethren. Suffering is a central part of obedience in that the flesh is being denied and dying daily. We have been told numerous times:

1Th 3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Php 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

The transformative process is pain and sorrow, but results in a peace and love that surpasses all understanding, producing wisdom that is not of this world. The difference now is that suffering that comes (because of not being afraid/fearful of the men of this world, overcoming the flesh and confessing the Name of Christ) is now for righteousness’s sake, and not suffering for doing evil.

Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

1Pe 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

1Pe 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

We are no longer fearful and afraid of the terrors of men because the suffering is not worthy to be compared to the glory that lies ahead and already is.

Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

1Pe 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, [in the Fear of God] than for evil doing [In the fear of men and love of this world].

That is how we become unafraid in heart and suffer for well doing.

Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Perfect love cast out all kinds of fear

The love of Christ works by fearing Him, by obedience to His commandments. Christ does not deny Himself. His fire to be feared remains from the beginning until the end, even as His love.

2Ti 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

In Him are all the characteristics of love, fear, righteousness, wisdom, knowledge, judgments and all spiritual attributes in one. What can separate us from the throne of God, as we have seen so far, is the fear of men, the Jews, fear of them that kill the body, fear of the enemy all summarized as fear of death.

Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world [whom we fear with the power of death] be cast out.

As Christ increases and we decrease we have no more fear of death. Boldness is coming as Paul, Peter and others displayed in the Acts of the disciples.

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren [whom we used to fear in times past] is cast downwhich accused them before our God day and night.

Carnal fear causes many to turn aside from the righteousness of God and being leavened.

Deu 1:17 Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God’s: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.

Our witness of Christ in this evil world, as evil men wax worse and worse, makes for spiritual blessings, contentions and warfare with persecutions, needing great boldness.

Mar 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

Mar 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

We are being persecuted even to “strange cities”.

Act 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

Act 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

Act 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Perfect love is casting out the fearful, afraid and timid spirits (men) in our hearts.

Eze 2:6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

It is by the fear of God we do service to the Lord himself out of the heart.

Col 3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

The Spirit of God through Christ deliver us and teach us His fear.

Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death [the fear of man] were all their lifetime subject to bondage [A snare].

Isa 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

Then boldness and blessings replace the fear of man:

2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear [of man, of death] but of power, and of [perfect] love, and of a sound mind.

Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly sayThe Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Isa 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

It is the Elect of God who have been set from the bondage to the first covenant and the delusion of thinking we are responsible for our own salvation.  Salvation like all things, is the Lord’s work in His people who are mere clay in His hands (Isa 64:8, Phil 2:13).  The freedom we have in Christ, is not freedom to sin but it is freedom to cease from our own works and wait on the Lord to deliver on His precious promises.  It is in this patience of enduring torment in  our flesh that we possess our souls (Luk 21:19).  In this we should rejoice daily no matter where may find ourselves on the way to maturity.

Gal 4:22  For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

Gal 4:23  But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

Gal 4:24  Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Gal 4:25  For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

Gal 4:26  But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Gal 4:27  For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

The Two Covenants – Part 1

The Two Covenants Part 1

(compiled from various prior elder studies and FAQs)

In this study, we are looking at the two Covenants in Scriptures and what exactly it means for us today.

Both Covenants namely the Old Covenant (Moses) and the Renewed Covenant (Christ) are likened unto the tree of good and evil and the tree of Life. Both were given by God, the Father, through Christ, and both have served, and is continuing to serve, different and separate functions in the Father’s plan and purpose through Christ and His sons.

The law of Moses was and IS today for a carnal, Christ-rejecting Israel. Yes, “the Israel of God” (Gal 6:16), those who come to know Christ, also shall be cut off (Rom 11:22) if not continuing to see that our standing in Christ brings us out from under the yoke (Act 15:10) of “bondage under the elements of the world” (Gal 4:3). These elements of the world under which we are being kept until we are being brought to Christ, are the law of Moses (Ten Commandments). Once we are brought to the real Christ, the law of the gentiles Rom 2:15 which are one and the same as the law of Moses no longer has dominion over us. This is pivotal to our understanding. All that is in the world is against Christ. If we are not in Christ, and under the law of faith we are not His. This is the law of the Gentiles and where all men are being carnally minded and abiding in death (Rom 8:6).

Rom 2:14  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Rom 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

The inability to distinguish between the two Covenants (Moses & Christ) keeps us from being able to differentiate between the physical Jew and the spiritual Jew. Not being able to differentiate between the old and the renewed is as vital as distinguishing Ishmael from Isaac in the OT shadow. One of them is the heir, no longer under the yoke and bondage to the elements of this world, but the one under the law is the son of the bondwoman who is not being made heir (Gal 4:21-31). Christ are not being in those under the law (Gal 4:19-21). The law of Christ (Gal 6:2) is as superior to the ten commandments and the law of the gentiles as meat is superior to milk.

Let us first look at the differences between the two Covenants, the Old Mosaic Covenant and the renewed Spiritual Covenant.  Here is a table that contrasts at least 30 distinctions with scripture witnesses as these two covenants are radically different.

Let us look at a few principals of what is being said above.

Ministration of Condemnation

Those imprisoned under the law are those to whom the law is addressed in our seasons. The law is not made for a righteous man.

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners.

Who are those who are under the law? It is all the world and they/we are “all… guilty before God” because the law is a ministration of death (2Co 3:7) and the ministration of condemnation (2Co 3:9). Why is that? Because the law is not at this time saving this world WITHIN and WITHOUT. Christ has no intention of saving the world. On the contrary, He is deliberately blinding the world to His Word and His Christ, within and without.

Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Joh 12:39 Therefore they [God’s people] could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
Joh 12:40 He [God] hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Reformation

Christ is a Reformer as Moses was and His reformation of the law becomes the Law of Christ for this reason:

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

This generation is the generation reading these Words. If we read and understand Christ’s Words, we fulfill them. His Words are His Law (John 6:63).

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Speaking to Gentile Galatians, Paul is explaining that the promises which appear to the carnal mind to be made only to Abraham and to his “one seed” Isaac, are in spiritual reality being made to Christ and those who are IN Christ. It is only they, who are that “one seed”, to whom those promises ARE actually being given.

Gal 3:26 For ye [Gentile Galatians] are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one [that “one seed… as Isaac was… Abraham’s seed”] in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Being baptized into Christ, are making us children of promise … Abraham’s seed.

Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren [Gentile Galatians], as Isaac was, are the children of promise

Christ tells us:

Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now

Physical Israel was told that God intended to send them a reformer like Moses. What Moses did was just as radical for that period of time as what Christ DOES is, was and will be. What was lawful before Moses IS not lawful after Moses. An example: Abraham and any of the patriarchs could build an altar and offer an offering anywhere. After Moses, that was illegal, and the offerings all had to be done through the priests at the tabernacle and the temple respectively. Moses made many changes, he was a reformer and shadows Christ, the ULTIMATE REFORMER of all times.

Deu 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethrenlike unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

From the beginning, Christ tells Eve that her desire is against her husband, but her husband will and IS ruling over her. Christ is also telling Cain that sin is at the door, but Cain will in the end rule over sin.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to [Hebrew, against] thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto [Hebrew, against] thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Here we have the promise of universal salvation which is still the milk of the Word. Eve’s submission to Christ, and sin’s submission to Cain, are both symbols of the deliverance of all from the rebellion against the Creator into which vanity we are being born.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it].

Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

The hundred and twenty people being in the upper room on Pentecost shadows the very few being chosen out of every generation since Christ, that are being saved in this life and whom the Lord is using to bring to Him the many in the next life. Within first and then without at the appointed times.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

Christ is chastening the Pharisees for their blindness, and while it is true that we all “reap what we sow,” and give an accounting of our stewardship, it is also true that Christ does not intend for the mixed multitudes to be saved who came and come to Him. It was and is their “calling” to crucify Him, the Lord’s MO. All have to reject and kill Christ first before we can have a Savior. It is all by God’s hand and by God’s counsel. We first have the old, then we have the renewed.

Pro 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himselfyea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Act 4:25 Who [God] by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
Act 4:26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Act 4:28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

Here are the same Scriptures:

Psa 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed,

Christ told the men on the road to Emmaus:

Luk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Luk 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Moses and all the prophets is all of the Scriptures. They are expounding the things concerning Christ for those whose eyes are being opened to know Him.

Luk 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed [it], and brake, and gave to them.
Luk 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

No one has age abiding life that is to know Christ and His Father, without first “sitting at meat with Him” and spending time in His Word and learning from Him how to rightly divide His Word. That is how He opens the Scriptures to us.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

At first, we walk with Christ and His Christ and do not recognize them until the time for us to “see and know” them.

Luk 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

We come to know that He is still here with us in the flesh of our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being faithful and obedient to His Words.

Act 22:8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Those who fail to see Christ in the least of these my brothers, do not know Christ.

Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The least of these my brothers is all that are being placed in front of us. God’s sons consider all men to be their neighbors, their brothers and sons of God in time to come.

Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

1Ti 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Law of the Gentiles

While we first encounter the Truth, whilst in the Body of Christ, we do not understand the Law of life, do not understand that our righteousness is to exceed that of the Pharisees. None of this is familiar to us, for the reason given in this verse of Isaiah.

Isa 3:1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

The OT Law says the exact opposite of the NT only in letter, and yet that is what it was to those who lived in OT times. When Christ says, “Leave nothing alive that breaths” that was what He physically means at that time. But when Christ COMES and OPENS our eyes to be able to compare spiritual with spiritual, what IS said of old IS changed. Now we understand that the kingdom of God is within us and “leave nothing alive that breaths” in that kingdom is WITHIN first.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

Christ speaks in Words which man’s wisdom are not being able to understand. There is a change also of the law, but that reformation was ordained and prophesied from the beginning by the Lord who has both dispensations planned from the beginning. He blinds mankind to what He is doing, but He Himself never changes.

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Act 6:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

It is all for this reason:

Rom 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

The Sabbath

If we are in Christ, we are entering into our sabbath. Anyone who keeps a weekly sabbath is testifying against himself that he is still “under the law” and still has six days in which he is doing his own works. In Christ, we do His works in everything we do, all the days of our lives.

1Co 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Christ had broken the sabbath and claimed to be the Son of God, therefore they seeked to kill Him. As He is, so are we (1 John 4:17).  This is truly a pivotal verse of truth.

Joh 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Christ and His apostles “as the priests… profane the sabbath and are guiltless”.

Mat 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
Mat 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple.
Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what [this] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Christ and His apostles broke and is breaking the sabbath and they and we are guiltless, because there is a change in the law and in the priesthood.

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

The law of Moses is intended to be shadows of the reality. The law of Moses, is a shadow of the good things to come in and through the reformation that was “Christ’s blood in the New Testament”.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Luk 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [of wine] is [symbolic of] the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Admonition

All is done for our admonition, so that we learn from the lives of the men in the OT, that the law of Moses IS never intended to change hearts and minds and IS not sufficient to give us life. Even the law of the gentiles which is the same thing. However, the law of Moses IS a very good schoolmaster to bring us to Christ and the law of the gentiles is purging out all of the idols of our wicked hearts being exposed in our day of the Lord, in our day of judgement, that first begins with us.

Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

All these things are “types of us”. Christ uses us, those who accept the reformations and are enduring the same trials, to bring to Christ those others to whom “all these things happened”, it is through the man child within that the rest within are being saved.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

1Co 10:6 Now these things became types of us, for us not to be lusters after evil things, (CLV)

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Our unbelief (the law) was and IS given by Christ for the purpose of demonstrating that God Himself, is the power which is working all things after the counsel of His own Will. In the end, it is demonstrating that flesh has no glory in the kingdom of God.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1Co 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1Co 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

 Summary

If we are sons of Christ, we have His Spirit in down payment form and we are under the renewed Covenant, the Law of Christ, which is the Law of God, the Father (Heb 10:16). It is the perfect Law of Christ (Gal 6:2), the Law of the Spirit (Rom 8:2), the Law of Righteousness (Rom 9:30-31), the Law of Faith (Rom 3:27), the Law of Liberty (Jas 1:25) and the Law of Life (Gal 3:11, 6:8).

All that is not IN Christ, is against Christ. The carnal mind, being the old mindset, is part of the Lord’s strange work to making us anew. Being under the old, our breasts are full of milk, being wholly at ease in Zion (we have long left orthodoxy (Moses) but still have many idols of the hearts). Christ IS not come yet a second time without sin (Heb 9:28). We are being puffed up with knowledge. This is us, the modern-day Pharisee within.

Job 21:22 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

Job 21:23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

Job 21:24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

There is also the Sadducee within us in type and shadow. Christ IS come for us a second time without sin (spiritually), in our day of the Lord, but we never eat with pleasure because of the bitterness of our souls. We do not like the wonderful work God does to the children of men and a root of bitterness defiles us, the spirit of disobedience.

Job 21:25  And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
Job 21:26  They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

The POWER of God, renewing our minds … making us anew, wants us to stop pointing the finger and giving thanks in all things. Making of twain one, under the renewed Covenant, the Law of Liberty.

1Th 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Psa 107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

2Co 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

With Paul therefore, we say:

2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Under the Headship of Christ, our healing comes forth and we are being renewed day by day, the Glory of the Lord our reward. The old waxes old and vanishes away.

Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.

Worshiping in Spirit and Truth #1

Key Verses:  Micah 5:15 – Micah 6:5

The Lord’s people are commanded to come out and be separate and not mix with the nations of this world.  It is the mixing with the heathen world, within and without, that causes the Israel of God to integrate pagan customs and their gods into our worship.  God will have none of it.

Exo 23:23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Exo 23:24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

We ended Part 16 with the Lord plucking up our groves (Asherah Poles) which spiritually speak to the destruction of the idols of hearts and the works of our hands that we bow down after disobeying the Lord’s commandments.  The Lord has a very narrow way and a very specific criteria for how we are to worship Him which we learn in our “day of the Lord”.  This learning is done via the process of judgment which is also the way towards maturity which we are studying here in Micah.  The title of this study is “Worshiping In Truth and Spirit” which is taken from the account in John 4 with the woman at the well.

Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

It is when we are drawn to meet Christ at this well of living water and begin to break bread and speak words with Him (via His Body) that we begin to worship in spirit and in truth.  With time we begin to no longer trust in the works of our own hands.  This is what the fiery ongoing trials brought on by the Word will do to confidence in flesh.

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh

Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment

Even after coming to knowledge of the truth, we stubbornly disobey the Lord and hear His commandments and Word but don’t do them. Thankfully in His mercy, the Lord returns a second time to redeem us with fire and execute vengeance upon the heathen within us and in the outward in the ages to come at the Second Resurrection.

Mic 5:15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.

The tribulation coming on the earth, inwardly and outwardly is not something we understand until it happens.  It is not something any man has seen or heard before neither can anyone understand it until they live it out.

Rev 16:18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

Act 13:41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

The understanding of the judgment of the Lord is a mystery not given for those yet carnal to understand.  The Lord will not try us in judgment beyond what we can bear (1Co 10:13). Our hearing and keeping of these judgments must wait till the appointed time.

Dan 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Rev 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

We are not appointed to wrath but we are saved by living through that wrath and drinking the cup which Christ promised all men would drink (Mat 20:23).  We are saved by Christ living His life in us and our enduring the same sufferings and afflictions of our Lord (Rom 5:10).

Once we are brought into the marvelous light of The Christ we will then be able to understand what the Lord is doing and His purposes in it.  This is perk given only to the Lord’s Elect who are His prophets and through whom He reveals His secrets.  The Lord tells us what He is going to do before He does it. Are eyes are truly blessed to see and understand these things now as it is the only way we can endure our trials and tribulations with thanksgiving.

We continue the study with the first five verses of Chapter Six.

Mic 6:1 Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

Mic 6:2 Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

Mic 6:3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

Mic 6:4 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Mic 6:5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

The first two verses begin with “hear ye” telling us the Lord is speaking to His people that have been given ears to hear and eyes to see.  Thus begins the Day of the Lord and the hour of judgment.

Pro 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them

When we are called down to the Potter’s house, the BODY OF CHRIST, then and only then are our ears CAUSED to hear and begin the overcoming process.

Jer 18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

These first two verses call on us that “hear” the word of the Lord to arise from our sleep and get in the game.  We must learn to contend for the faith and fight the good fight of faith.

1Ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses

Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

The Lord has a controversy with us His people.  The Lord is not impressed by the feigned worship of Him by men that call Him Lord but do not do what He says.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it

Rom 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Hills and mountains represent the higher forms and elevations of the earth that are closer to heaven.  Spiritually speaking, these represent the deep seated sins of pride and covetousness which we hold in unrighteousness that need to be leveled by the fire of the Lord.  Speaking the words bring fire against those idols and our sins.  These must be go (be brought low) for us to humbled so the Lord can then exalt us in due time (Jas 4:10).  It is judgment, eating the Word of God, the Flesh of Christ that brings the hills and mountains low.

Luk 3:5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

Trusting in true faith and asking according to His will guarantees our prayers will be answered and the mountains and hills moved out of the land within us.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

The strong foundations of the earth are these idols and besetting sins, the giants in the land that will be burned with fire as the increase of the earth is consumed.

Deu 32:22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

The Lord’s reproves His people with judgment.  The translation of the Lord pleading with His people implies He is beholden to men and their will.  Such is a lie as the word translated pleading is H3198 and it mostly translated as Reprove or Rebuke or other variations of those words.  The Lord needs nothing from any man (Act 17:25) as He indeed is working ALL THINGS according to the counsel of His Will (Eph 1:11, Rom 11:36).

Mic 6:3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

The Lord will reprove and rebuke our sinful ways via the war He brings into our heavens.  This war is the many trials and tribulations we must suffer and endure to enter the Kingdom.  Trusting in our own works (gods) and our own righteousness, we all like JOB at first contend with the Lord and complain our judgments and trials are unjust and attempt to justify ourselves by our own works.

Job 40:1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,

Job 40:2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

Of course we have no testimony against the Lord and will only be brought to repent in dust and ashes of our complaints.  The people of God will learn contentment and the great gain that comes from knowing He truly is the Lord of All.  Our attempt to disannul the Lord’s judgments are met with mockery as the Lord reveals the extent of His Lordship.

Job 40:8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?

Then after the Lord has His way with us in the whirlwind, we are brought to our senses and by His mercy granted repentance from our rebellion and self righteousness.  Our eyes of understanding are greatly improved the longer we abide in the fire of judgment.

Job 42:5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

Job 42:6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Mic 6:4 For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Through Micah, the Lord references the patriarchs and in the next verse a key story of a false prophet to show us our sin and continued rebellion in failing to obey Him and worshiping the way true worshipers must worship.  Those stories remain for our admonition today (1Co 10:11).  All men are born slaves to sin and the ways of the world that is represented by Egypt.  We are redeemed from this “house of slavery” only by living through great judgments and time of journeying in the wilderness looking for the promise land of salvation.

Exo 6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.

Exo 6:8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.

The prerequisite (forerunner) to the judgment of God is our being drawn to Christ by being shown our sinfulness and rebellious ways through the Law of Moses also known as the Law of the Gentiles (Rom 2:14).

Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

 1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

1Ti 1:9  Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

The law of Moses, the carnal commandments that are just a shadow of the true light that is the Law of Faith, are given to lead us to the real Christ in due time.  Those sacrifices we make in worshipping pursuant to the Law of the Gentiles does not cleanse our consciousness and take not away our sins.  Only living by the Law of Faith and the fiery grace can change our hearts.

Moses, Aaron and Miriam, all three represent our process of spiritual completion.  But we have to get beyond the righteousness that comes by the works of the law (Mat 5:20) if we wish to enter the kingdom of God.  The Lord goes on to state His case and controversy against us by bringing up the story of Baalam.

Mic 6:5 O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

Balaam represents the Lord’s people when we are puffed up with knowledge and use those riches for gain.  The Micah study has several times already brought in this merchandising (Jebusite and Canaanite spirits) that has us in the flesh taking the things of God and using them to seek something valued by the flesh and carnal mind.

1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Doing deals with fleshly kings (Balak) is not what the Lord demands in our worship and service.  We are to be separated from the world and not lust after the treasures of this earth and what its kings have to offer us (Mat 6:19-20).

Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth

Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Balaam had the true knowledge of God, He spoke truthfully and prophesied of Christ’s coming (Num 24:17-18) and the deliverance of Israel from its enemies.  Balaam who represents you and me and all men in due season (Mat 4:4) is a merchandiser, he is a peddler of the Word.  Paul tells us it is the MAJORITY who do this.

2Co 2:17 For we are not as the majority, who are peddling the word of God, but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God in Christ, are we speaking.

Balaam’s covetousness of worldly riches leads to sin which brings a plague upon the Lord’s people.  We need to be diligent to get this spirit out of our midst and our heavens.   Fornication shall not even be named among the people of God (Eph 5:3).

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication

We will live these words of forsaking the right way and loving the reward we get in the flesh.  We have lost some in the Body who have fallen for this deceptive spirit, having great knowledge but using it in search of ungodly mammon.   If we are found faithful through our judgment this will be cast out of us by our suffering and trials.

The end of the matter is Balaam was actually a false prophet and was known as a soothsayer also known as a witch.  As we saw last week, it is the duty of God’s people not to let a witch live.  Witches must be put to death by the people of God. (Exo 22:18).  Seeking things of the world makes one an enemy of God and the fate of Balaam was death by the sword.

Jos 13:22 Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer (witch), did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.

The Lord works evil for good and despite the attempts to have Israel cursed by Balaam, Israel (you and me) is blessed by the experiences.

Deu 23:5 Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

The Lord’s waste nothing in working all things for His Counsel and even our disobedience is used to bring grace and scourging the very experiences that teach us true righteousness.

Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

These temptations to peddle the word for gain and do deals with the world to bless our flesh will always be with us as we abide in these bodies of clay. It says Balaam answered Balak from Shittim to Gilgal.  This defines our journey as the Lord’s Watchmen and how the people of God are matured and overcome in the day of the Lord.  The definitions of Shittim and Gilgal tell of this process.

The whirling wheels that bring the judgment of fire is the Body of Christ.  We kill off the Balaam’s within and without in the appointed times.  The root words for Shittim and Gilgal reveal the meaning and both represent maturing stages of God’s Elect in their day of judgment.

 H7848, shiṭṭı̂ym, shit-teem’

Feminine of a derivative (the second form being only in the plural, meaning the sticks of wood) from the same as H7850; the acacia (from its scourging thorns): – shittah, shittim. See also H1029.

Exo 25:10 And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

Exo 25:13 And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold

Steve did a masterful job of covering the spiritual significance of all these symbols in the Awesome Hands series in the lessons from #90 – 100. Gilgal comes from a word that means wheel.

 H1536, gilgâl, ghil-gawl’

A variation of H1534: – wheel.

Total KJV occurrences: 1

Isa 5:28  Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

Eze 10:6  And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.

It is traversing this journey from beginning to end that we learn righteousness.  In begins with the planting of the ARK (Word) in the Temple of God.  It ends with us being the instruments of judgment and being used of God to judge all mankind.

Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

Once we learn it and become the mature man of God, we can be used to teach others.  We lead by example by our DOING.

2Ti 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Php 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1Co 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

We will end this study here and finish up the topic of worshipping in truth and spirit Part 2.  The light that is Christ will eventually get to all our hidden darkness within.  The pride and covetousness we hide is not hidden to the Lord.

Luk 8:17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

The pride of man shall be brought low by the Lord exposing to us and burning it up in the fiery furnace of judgment.  This is how we will be able to obey Him and be caused to walk humbly before Him.  It will have nothing to do with our strength, our will or the works of our hands, it’s all Him.

Mic 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing

Book of Micah Part 2 – In the World But Not of the World

By Pete Wilson

Mic 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

Mic 1:2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

Mic 1:3 For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

Mic 1:4 And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.

Mic 1:5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

Mic 1:6 Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.

Mic 1:7 And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.

In Part 1 we covered just verse one and we need to cover some additional points to complete the foundation.

Mic 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw[H2372] concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.

These words of Micah are a vision, they are things he SAW concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.  What this means to us is that these words become SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING (i.e. maturity) when we also PERCEIVE/SEE and learn to apply it in our walk.

 H2372 – “Saw”

khaw-zaw

A primitive root; to gaze at; mentally to perceive, contemplate (with pleasure); specifically to have a vision of: – behold, look, prophesy, provide, see.

Micah like all of the Lord’s prophets and all of God’s elect are called to be watchers and be very circumspect about our walk and environment.  This role of being a watchman is to look within ourselves and within the Body of Christ.  Before we have Micah the prophet, we have a Micah the idolater, making molten images.

Jdg 17:4 Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.

The Micah of Judges is indeed a different Micah than the Morasthite, who has the Goliath within under control.  Yet our spiritual completion (seven Israelites named Micah in Scripture) requires us to live by every word of Scripture.

Samaria became the capital of the Northern Kingdom of the ten tribes when King Omri bought the land.

1Ki 16:23 In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.

1Ki 16:24 And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.

1Ki 16:25 But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.

Building on the hills is making idols for ourselves in our self-righteous zeal.  It is in Samaria that we will seek the perfection of our flesh yet we remain outside of the true city and separated from the Lord and His Christ.  The son of Omri was Ahab who is infamous for marrying Jezebel and building shrines and promoting worship of Baal (other gods).

1Ki 16:31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

1Ki 16:32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

1Ki 16:33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

Samaria is north of Jerusalem and the direction from which we all will come in the days of our judgment.  The meaning of Samaria from its root word is very instructive.

 H8111 – “Samaria”

sho-mer-one’

From the active participle of H8104; watch station; Shomeron, a place in Palestine: – Samaria.

Here is the Strong’s definition of the root of Samaria H8104 shaw-mar’

A primitive root; properly to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to, etc.: – beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).

Of the 468 occurrences of the root word “shamar” H8104, the vast majority are translated as “keep” or “kept” or some derivative thereof; however, this same word is where we get some of our well-known passages for watchmen.

Isa 62:6 I have set watchmen [H8104] upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD,keep not silence,

Psa 127:1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman [H8104] waketh but in vain.

Watchmen sit on the wall that separates the Holy City of New Jerusalem with the religious world (a type of Babylon also) which is represented by Samaria.  The wall and the cloud are the same thing, “the dream is one”, they are Christ and one side is thick darkness (Jos 24:7) and the other side is the true Light (Exo 14:20).  On the one side is “The Christ”, sons of God, and the other represents the heathen (mixed multitudes) that are the spiritual Gentiles.  This applies inwardly as well outwardly as the Kingdom of God is divided and there are raging battles within and without.  When we begin to follow Christ and work for Him, we all bring our “idols of Samaria” into the Holy City with us (Exo 12:38, Neh 13:3). This is a constant battle being in this world.

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

1Jn 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

The woman at the well (in Samaria) was found by Jesus Christ and a lost sheep was returned to the fold worshipping in Spirit and Truth and partaking of the living waters. Our role as watchman is not just within Jerusalem.  From the wall we look both inwardly and outwardly.  From the wall that is CHRIST, we are also to look out into Samaria and pull in the lost sheep of the house of Israel the Lord has prepared and brings to us (Psa 10:17).

Mat 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Like many things in Scripture these Words appear as a contradiction to the carnal mind and those in Babylon just conveniently ignore them.

Joh 4:4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

Joh 4:5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

In the World But Not of the World

The answer lies in differentiating the spiritual from the physical.  We are physically in the world but the Lord’s people are not of the world.  We have a different mindset, the mind of Christ.  We march to the tune of a different drummer called Christ.

Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Ezekiel chapters 16 and 23 give us greater detail on Samaria and its spiritual significance.  Samaria is said to the older sister (where we first start out with the truth) of Jerusalem.

Eze 23:2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

Eze 23:3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.

Eze 23:4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

These two sisters are shadows of different stages of our walks.  Samaria is the beast who receives the deadly wound and continues to be a whore in Egypt (the world) refusing to obey the Lord and be separate (2 Cor 6:14-16).  Yet Jerusalem is even worse of a whore because she has been dragged into Christ and yet still plays the harlot.  To whom much is given much more is expected.  To continue to disobey the Lord after having come to knowledge of Truth brings greater stripes in our day of the Lord.  These parables tell of our progression until the Lord brings the baptism by fiery judgment to sanctify His great Name in us (Eze 36:23).

So while Samaria represents the world, it is also a later rendering of the world in type and shadow representing our linkage to “spiritual Babylon”.  With a storied history even the place of the showdown between the prophet of the Lord and the prophets of Baal; Samaria is, was and will be ruled over by the flesh and by many evil kings that reign over the “ten” tribes such as King Ahab.  This is where the religious beast continues to thrive (Rev 13:11). Moving on to maturity as we progress in our kingship we must learn to separate from our idol worship in Samaria.

Act 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

Jer 23:13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err

King Ahab of Israel married Jezebel and did more evil than all the prior kings.  This is what we do before our great day of judgment and the Lord’s Christ are sent to us to speak words of fire (Jer 5:14) that bring judgment (Mat 19:28).  The story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal was accomplished at Mt. Carmel in Samaria.  It always takes a prophet of the Lord to go show the people of God, the “kings” of the land, the error of their way.

Double mindedness defines Samaria and our inward battles of the mind.  The Lord is not making the carnal mind and the flesh in harmony with His mind, He is destroying that mindset.  We cannot mix and match our gods, we must choose today and “we choose life” Lord willing (Deut 30:19).  The seven churches within us that make up the ONE church includes Thyatira where we hear and learn how serious the Lord is about purity and separation from the world within and without.  Good is the enemy of excellence in our weak of faith state, we hear but not do the Word as a weak King Ahab.

Rev 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

We must hold fast our confession and endure, striving to stay on the narrow road and wait for the Lord.  Only the called, chosen AND FAITHFUL is overcoming and be given to rule with Him.

Rev 2:25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

It helps to learn to think about sisters and brothers and family depictions in the Scriptures as maturing phases in our walk and our coming to be the perfect man in Christ. The “is” and “was” application of Ezekiel 16 is our time in the holy city committing whoredoms despite knowing the Truth and coming behind in no gift.

Eze 16:45 Thou art thy mother’s daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

Eze 16:46 And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.

Eze 16:47 Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.

We are always abiding in the fire that is Christ and should never be at ease in Zion.  We should follow the example of our Lord who was always at work.  Nobody has arrived and that is the mistake we make in the Body with our head knowledge before we are given to walk it out.  We learn the lesson of the deceitfulness of sin that lies in fleshly hearts.

Joh 5:17 But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work.

Amo 6:1 Woe to those at ease in Zion, and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria, those noted as the leader of the nations! And the house of Israel came to them.

The Witness From The Temple

Mic 1:2 Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

The earth represents all mankind and the carnal nature these clay vessels were purposefully made marred and naturally at enmity and in rebellion to the Word of God. So we are the earth that at first refuses to take heed.

Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Such a rebellious one will not be prospered and it is that seed, the seed of the serpent, the carnal mind, that will not be sitting on the Lord’s throne and ruling within us any longer when we hear the prophets speak.  “Oh that Ismael may live before You” is the plea of the old man (Gen 17:18).

Jer 22:30 Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

Who are God’s witnesses?  We are, the Body of Christ, who are also the faithful watchmen.

Isa 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

So when the Lord says He is a witness against us from His holy temple we should know and be reminded what we are being told.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

So this is a scriptural proof right here in Micah 1:2 that we are the judges and reprovers of one another right now while we abide in this Body.  This is where we are judged now (1 Cor 11:31-32) and prepared and be given the role of judging “all of mankind” in the Millennium and Lake of Fire to come and at present with each other (1 Co 6:2, Mat 19:28, Rev 20:4).

Judging and being judged and having His Word be a witness against our sins and ungodliness is how we are sanctified by fire.  It is here, abiding in the Body, breaking bread with one another, speaking words of fire with one another that the sons of Levi’s that the elect represent spiritually, are purified.

Mal 3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Mal 3:4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

We learn to fear the Lord and tremble at HIS Word as our faith grows and we mature in HIS chastening grace.

The Lord is His Word and we are also that Word as His Christ.

Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Joh 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

The Lord coming out of His place is us speaking those Words of fire to one another.

Jer 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

The work of our redemption through that “sweet” judgment (Psa 19:9-10) can only take place when we are in the midst of the temple and that temple is in the midst of us.  This is how the high places of our earth; the idols, the pride, the carnality, the giant sins …. anything that defiles is being plowed up and being melted away by the fervent heat of the fire of “age abiding” (not everlasting) fire.  Isaiah saw this vision of the temple and the throne room and saw the elect, the Body of Christ, the seraphim worshipping the Lord which is how the old man king Uzziah, dies and the new man comes forth.  The seraphim are the ones who bring the fire to us and that fire is what causes the spiritual earthquakes (Zec 14:5, Rev 16:18) in the earth, our earth.

Isa 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

Isa 6:3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Isa 6:5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

Isa 6:6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

Isa 6:7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

The judging of that great whore within us, as Aholibah (Jerusalem), occurs as we live out the Words of the Micah’s prophecy.

Rev 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

Rev 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

The symbolism of fire and wax and molten mountains is this process of being refined in the “furnace of affliction”, the very purpose of the trials and the scourging grace the Lord gives us.

Psa 97:3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

Psa 97:4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.

Psa 97:5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

Psa 97:6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.

And a NT witness of the same event:

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The transgressions are the same, the dream is one!

Mic 1:5 For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?

We endure this wrath for our own transgressions and for the sins of the house of Israel.  These rhetorical questions are answered in the same way.  The transgression of Jacob, a type for Jesus Christ and representative of the elect, is our worldliness and refusal to separate from the idols of Baal.  The high places of Judah are the idols we still hold in the Body of Christ, representative of the Holy City of Jerusalem.

Isa 10:10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

Isa 10:11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

There are lots of ways to create idols of our hearts, even angel worship of others, all of which are an abomination to the Lord.  We must move on to maturity and be given to overcome these few things the Lord still has against us while we dwell in spiritual Jerusalem living in these marred clay vessels fighting the good fight of faith.

Rev 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

When we are not faithful to watch over the flock beginning with ourselves, leaven creeps in and the people and the temple is defiled (1 Co 5:6-7) and the wrath is kindled against us (2 Ch 24:18).  Christ in us, the new man, the second man from heaven, must supersede and replace the first man Adam.  This is what being “supplanted”, the meaning of Jacob means in the end!

1Co 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1Co 15:46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

1Co 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

But that comes by living out the process of our life both in the world (Samaria) and in the Body (Jerusalem).  Those being saved are those in Zion who are given to turn from their transgressions in Jacob (the new man).

Isa 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD

Judgment is now on the House of God and we have many Micah’s speaking to us often Lord willing in our frequent fellowships and breaking of bread.  Here is what these words of fire do:

Mic 3:8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

Isa 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

The kingdom does come to earth as it is in heaven.

The land within us will be plowed and made desolate and burned with fire as we have scores of witnesses throughout the prophets.  This process of judgment is what discovers the foundations of the beast and our carnal mind and the shame of this nakedness; our own wickedness is used to correct us (Jer 2:19).  We are the light of the world yet that light is made and continues to burn only while we endure in this winepress, playing harps and singing the new tune that only comes to the blessed few through this chastening and scourging of a loving Father.

Exo 27:20 And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

The Elect of God are not appointed to wrath but to salvation (1 The 5:9) but that will only come by us drinking the cup of the Lord and being judged in this age.  That is what will cause our lamp to always burn.

1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

These Words of Micah we will study are the wonderful day of the Lord that comes to the children of men and brings us to our wits end of our old man and fleshly lusts.  We do reap what we sow in our whoredoms (fornicating with the world) all the while claiming to be the Body of Christ.  This is the second coming of Christ for salvation APART FROM SIN.  A Holy Seed comes forth only by much tribulation (Acts 14:22) and burning with fire. No one can enter into the temple any other way (Rev 15:8).

Isa 6:13 (NLT) If even a tenth—a remnant—survive, it will be invaded again and burned. But as a terebinth or oak tree leaves a stump when it is cut down, so Israel’s stump will be a holy seed.”

Rev 16:5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.

Rev 16:6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Rev 16:7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

I hope this study has upgraded our awareness that we need to constantly examine ourselves and ensure we are guarding our gates and staying separated from the affairs of the world and not holding on to idols of our deceitful hearts (Jer 17:9).  We must be given to move on to maturity, if the Lord permits (Heb 6:3).  Pressing onward and upward requires us to abide in the fire that will constantly judge us and bring the hidden things of darkness to the Light that is Christ.

1Co 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

1Co 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

1Co 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

1Co 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

We will be seeing more of the Lord’s kingdom coming into our earth in the next few studies.  Some interesting names and their meanings will enhance our understanding of the process of judgment and how we come to know the Lord.
