“Who are the Sons of Aaron?”

A teaching for women by Ronel

Christ speaks to us spiritually and as always, we see OT shadows point to the spiritual realities for us in order to know the Father, Christ and those whom He is sending (Luk 17:3). This is age-abiding life.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Sons of Aaron

Who are Aaron and his sons, and why were they chosen as priests in OT shadows? Aaron and his sons are Levites, they form the priesthood and are holy to God (Exo 28:36) to minister and serve. Christ is our High Priest and we are like Him. Aaron, which typifies Christ, ministers in the Holy of Holies.

Exo 28:35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when He goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.

2Co 3:14  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

When we love, i.e. keep the commands of Christ and teach others to do so, we serve each other as His priests. We are being transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Light.

1Jn 2:8  Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Priests, sons of Aaron, come out from the Levites. We are coming out of spiritual Babylon daily (Rev 18:4) and through the Lake of Fire, we are dying daily [the second death – Rev 20:14]. Our time as spiritual Levites represent a focus on the outside of the cup, before our Day of the Lord versus sons of Aaron, sons of Christ, where our focus shifts to being made holy and working on the inside of the cup.  Here are the characteristics of the priests.

1) Priests are hallowed

Being hallowed is being made holy by the ongoing process and us bearing the Word and the testimony of Christ more each day. Christ and His sons, typified by Aaron and his sons, are being set apart and made holy unto the Lord.

Exo 29:1 And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest’s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,

1Pe 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The blood of Christ, our sacrificed life, enduring the cross is hallowing us as we endure.

Exo 29:21  And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed [made holy], and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.

2) Priests are anointed

Sons of Aaron are being anointed with oil which is preparing us for service as ministers of grace.

Exo 29:7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.

2Co 3:6  Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Ministry of the sons of Aaron

Num 18:1 And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
Num 18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.

Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
Num 18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.

Num 18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Israel.
Num 18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Num 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Num 18:8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance forever.

The priests of God were and are BEING anointed so that they can be set aside to SERVE Christ, and by serving the Lord they are being used so that NO more wrath comes upon the children of Israel WITHIN first and then without. For us today, it means we are being made into kings and priests, being saved if we endure in this life to the end.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Rev 1:6 And hath made [is making us] us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

Ministering to the people, within first, we judge ourselves first and love our brethren without. Remember love is the bond of perfection.

Act 5:25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the Temple, and teaching the people.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1Co 9:13 Do ye not know that they which minister about the holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

And here is an example of what the priests of God, who are being ordained, speak to Israel within and without themselves.

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

God uses the foolishness of preaching to spread His Word and to confuse those who are “wise in their own hearts” within and without.

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Being saved is a continuous process just like preaching and teaching is. Priests have no dominion over anyone’s faith but rather persuade and declare all the counsel of God (Acts 20:27 – 30).

Heb 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Heb 13:14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
Heb 13:15 By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Heb 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Heb 13:17 Obey (a better translation be persuaded by) them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Priests, sons of Aaron, within and without, feed the church and declare, with the Words of God, the counsel of God to the flock of God, because they are overseers. Women prophesy (Acts 21:9) and we as women in the natural, do not teach in the church but rather do this:

1Ti 5:9  Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,

1Ti 5:10  Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Teaching ourselves and others to love our husbands and children, which is spiritual speak to teach ourselves to love Christ. Our children in Spirit, are our renewing mindsets.

Tit 2:4  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Tit 2:5  To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

The iniquity of the priesthood

The iniquity of the priesthood falls on us, to learn and to be raised up as kings and priests when Christ comes to us the second time for salvation (Heb 9:28). We are being raised up (the better resurrection or the blessed first holy resurrection) through the fiery process of the second death (losing our lives) which is accomplished in the lake of fire. Following the examples of our High Priest, we follow Him to our death suffering the reproach of the world within ourselves and without.

1Ti 4:10  For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Faith comes by hearing and the Lord sends out His laborers into the field to bring in the harvest.  These are the same as the priests who follow the Lord and preach the gospel of Truth.  As His Father sent Him, so He sends His priests, His laborers into the field.

Mar 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world [without the camp bearing His reproach], and preach the gospel to every creature.

Sons of Aaron are in service to “bear the iniquity of the priesthood” within and without in the Body. What is the iniquity of the priesthood? Teaching, speaking the Truth about the Gospel, and pronouncing the commandments of God are what priests do. Speaking words of truth and soberness are the fire that saves us in the day one is able to hear those words.

Act 26:24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
Act 26:25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

Jer 5:14  Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

As the Word takes root, Christ in us and our hearers grows, and the service of the priesthood is established as we begin to reign over the spiritual land in down payment.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years

As the sons of Christ, sons of Aaron in type and shadow, we suffer with Christ. This is the calling of all kings and priests, there is a price we are paying:

2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him, if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

High priest

Christ is our High Priest and we are being made into His likeness by enduring the same process of our Lord in dying to death. As Christ, is, so are we in this world (1Jo 4:17).

Heb 3:1 (ESV) Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Understanding the connection between Christ and His sons, the Christ, entails knowing how the High Priest is chosen.

Heb 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Heb 5:2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Heb 5:3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Heb 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.

We are joined to Christ through His Spirit.

1Co 6:14  And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

1Co 6:15  Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

1Co 6:16  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

1Co 6:17  But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Like Joseph, in type and shadow, sons of Aaron, are called out from their brothers, and are given special clothing and anointed above their brothers. This is done for the Lord’s purposes and so those He chooses can become the channel (the priests of God) through whom the Lord uses to bring all men to Himself. Let’s look at some of these traits and duties of a priest.

1) Priests are anointed “above their fellows.”

Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

2) Priests are faithful preachers within and without in the Body of Christ.

1Sa 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed forever.

1Ti 2:7  Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

3) Priests bear the ark of the covenant;

Jos 3:8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Priests STAND firm on the GOSPEL. Here are the OT and NT shadow and reality.

Jos 4:10 For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
Jos 4:11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed overand the priests, in the presence of the people.

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

4) Only the priests blow the seven trumpets which represent judgment:

1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Jos 6:13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rearward came after the ark of the LORD, [the priests] going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

Jos 6:16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

Rev 8:6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

5) Only the priests blow the two silver trumpets. These trumpets announce general gatherings, alarms for journeys, special gatherings, and to go to war in OUR land against the enemies of God (Num 10:1 – 9).

Num 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance forever throughout your generations.

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Conclusion

God’s anointed priests who live in “the day of small things”, are those who are being made faithful to His Words, having the mind of Christ walking out their day of judgment now.

1Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Sons of Aaron are of His flesh and bones (Eph 5:30) and represent all the many membered functions and gifts of the true body of Christ.

1Co 12:12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also, is [the Body of] Christ

The image of the items given to the priests to wear and what they represent tell us that Christ takes His judgments seriously. Sons of Aaron, minister INSIDE the vail and are the covering cherubs GUARDING the Words of Life (Gen 3:24) being the first made into doers of His Word as we come out of the spiritual Levites who have only the law but have not been given the Spirit of God required to overcome.

We are both spiritual Levites and sons of Aaron in our seasons as we live by every Word of God (Matt 4:4). Look inwardly, spiritual Levites have the appearance of godliness, but only the sons of Christ have the POWER of Life which are the Words that I AM speaking to you (John 6:63).

1Th 1:5  For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Rom 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

It is our continual abiding in Truth that will keep us faithful and set us free from all sin.

Joh 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Joh 8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
