The NT Church, Marriage Relations Part 2
By Ronel Wilson
We touched on a question in Part 1 [please read Part 1 again] namely, how does a godly wife conduct herself when she desires her unbelieving husband to become one with her in the marriage bed more often as she feels forsaken and neglected and does not know the reason why her husband has little or no desire towards her. We, as Christ’s Church, are born of God and do not seek our own righteousness [own understanding] but strive to obey Him in all things. We are born of God. In this study, we look at the answer to the question.
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one [devil] toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness [carnal reasoning, self-righteousness].
1Jn 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jn 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols [molten gods]. Amen.
We do not solve our problems as the world does, but rather are sanctified through the Truth of the living Words of Christ, for which we will and am suffering.
Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world [carnal mind] hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil [carnal reasoning].
Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:17 Sanctify [make white with the righteousness of Christ] them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
2Ti 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Once we hear the Message of the Gospel again [being transfigured with Christ], and at our appointed times are being transferred from the kingdom of darkness [under the law of sin and death namely our carnal minds] into the Kingdom of Light [the commands of Christ within], we have to give up the idols of our hearts and our old way of thinking about matters pertaining to all the world and its problems [including our husbands]. Many hardcore beliefs only come out through praying and fasting.
Prayer & Fasting
What is praying spiritually?
Praying is having and seeking the mind of Christ on matters lifting up holy hands, [being set-apart from the world]. A matter is established by two or three witnesses. Here are three witnesses [the mind of Christ] for the godly wife’s problem, that wins her husband over through her conduct. We are speaking if the husband is not forcing the wife to disobey God because in that case, we know we rather obey God than men. The key word is subject ourselves.
1Pe 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Col 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
We do not doubt.
1Ti 2:8 I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
What is fasting spiritually?
The putting away from the finger, acknowledging that Christ is doing what He is doing [Eph 1:11]. We have to look within our own hearts first.
Isa 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
How do we make things right? We first seek the Kingdom of God within ourselves, we seek to obey Christ first before all else.
Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath [Christ] a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Take up your cross and follow me
As hard it is for our flesh to accept this, we, by now, know that if we believe in Christ, we will also suffer with Him, suffer, because we obey His commands in any problem or trial we have, which was custom made for each of us individually and as a Body collectively.
1Co 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
1Co 7:13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
We need to be thankful for our trials because there is no other way to be saved. We certainly do not want to go through our afflictions if it depends on us but would rather look for ways to escape the judgment of God. The MO of God is all about judgment. Joy is the companion of thankfulness.
Psa 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psa 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
If we look within our hearts and minds, we see that the enemies of the cross of Christ within [carnal thoughts], certainly think that we do not need to go through all of our trials. Remember the story of Job. It took a long time before he realized and understood that although he was a perfect man [had the truth of Christ in type and shadow], he still had to be purified through his trials, in order to be able to pray for his brethren [type and shadow]. Every creature is good, all trials are good because nothing is wasted and is the way we come to God through Christ and His Christ.
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Do not Grumble
We have to realize, that there are the dead within us, that needs to be destroyed in our Day of the Lord. Look within. We always have this struggle between life and death, between Spirit and flesh, between what we want and what we get.
1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ [we all heard the Gospel].
1Co 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
1Co 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1Co 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1Co 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1Co 10:10 Neither murmur [complain] ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1Co 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1Co 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
Above All – Stand
As a people, holy unto God and Christ, we stand on His promises and on His Words of Spirit and Life [John 6:63]. We are being built up, a holy priesthood according to His pleasure. We have to make sure that in every trial, our consciences are clear towards Christ. That is the goal of the commandment.
Psa 122:1 A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
Psa 122:2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
Psa 122:3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
Psa 122:4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD.
Psa 122:5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
We are going to the Gentiles within first, to become partakers of His divine nature [2 Pe 1:4] according to His will.
Act 26:15 And I [Paul] said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
Act 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
To us then as godly wives, we have to pray for strength to endure and carry our cross in our marriages and in our trials, as our husbands behold how we walk and in due time according to His will, the Lord will come [rise us up so we overcome] and not delay. We each have trials which we absolutely hate [love less], different, but with the same outcome and the only way to escape is by going through them, with the commands of the Lord as a Light to guide us through. There is no other way. All of us suffer as One Bread, if we are His in this age and we suffer for His Name’s sake.
Psa 89:15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
Christ also does not come to us while we pray and fast. Before He comes with His fiery grace [discipline] or in other words the testing of our faith [what we have heard], there is a time of prayer and fasting, when we hear His Word [faith comes by hearing], see the man of sin and Lord willing, repent and turn [convert]. Then does the Lord come, to destroy all that offends out of His Kingdom within and in due time without. So are we being saved in this way only.
Psa 139:23 [NLT] Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
Psa 139:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Col 3:12 [NLT] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Col 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
What shall we say then, the Lord gets what He wants, He is a jealous God. We can only comfort and carry each other through our fiery trials, understanding what the will of God is namely our sanctification [1Th 4:3]. That is why we have trials, the salvation of our souls.
1Pe 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
To the godly woman with the unbelieving husband, stand fast on the promises and Words of Christ and He will lift you up, heal and comfort you. It is not easy to carry our burdens, but Christ promises He will never leave or forsake us.
