The Sons of Aaron

Sons of Aaron, notes compiled from prior teachings

Introduction

Christ speaks to us today spiritually and as always as we have seen in all of our previous studies on the milk doctrines and Offerings, the OT shadows points to the spiritual realities for us today in order to know the Father, Christ and those whom He is sending Luk 17:3). This is age abiding life.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

The tribe of Levi

The Levites who served and are serving that cannot touch the holy things of the temple, are from the same tribe as the priests. Who then are Aaron and his sons, and why were they chosen as priests? Aaron and his sons are Levites but they form the priesthood and are set apart to God to minister and serve. Christ is our High Priest and we are like Him. Aaron which typifies Christ ministers in the Holy of Hollies.

Exo 28:35 And it shall be upon Aaron to minister: and his sound shall be heard when He goeth in unto the holy place before the LORD, and when he cometh out, that he die not.

Exo 28:36 And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

When we love, i.e. keep the commands and teach others to do so, we, serve each other as His priests.

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Priests, sons of Aaron, come out of the Levites, like we, are coming out of spiritual Babylon. In other words, spiritual Levites, represent hearers only before our Day of the Lord versus sons of Aaron, sons of Christ, BEING MADE into His Image through our baptism of fire. Levites have not been tested and tried yet.

  • Priests are hallowed
  • Priests are anointed

The Lord establishes Aaron and his sons as priests for the purpose 0f ministering to God and His people by hallowing them for the job.

Exo 29:1 And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest’s office: Take one young bullock, and two rams without blemish,

The primitive root for H6942: to be (causatively make, pronounce or observe as) clean (ceremonially or morally): – appoint, bid, consecrate, dedicate, defile, hallow, (be, keep) holy (-er, place), keep, prepare, proclaim, purify, sanctify (-ied one, self), X wholly

Priests are BEING washed with water first (our first BAPTISM).

Exo 29:4 And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water.

Then, priests are being anointed with oil, baptized into His DEATH, a process.

Exo 29:7 Then shalt thou take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head, and anoint him.

Mat 20:22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

God, the Father uses Christ and His Christ, those with wisdom to ordain His ministers.

Exo 28:41 And thou shalt put them uponH3847 (H853) (H853) AaronH175 thy brother, H251 and his sonsH1121 withH854 him; and shalt anointH4886 them, and consecrateH4390 (H853) H3027 them, and sanctifyH6942 them, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s officeH3547

The first appointments to any office with Christ in His tabernacle was done with the laying on of hands of Moses to Aaron and his sons. For us this has a spiritual meaning, found in Timothy.

1Ti 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Ti 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
1Ti 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
1Ti 5:21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
1Ti 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

The Hebrew concept of consecration is to “fill the hands” with the one you are placing yours hands on. In other words, in order to ordain anyone to an office of the Lord, one must give their full confidence to the one being appointed and also recognize that by doing so they too will have their “hands full” and be able to lay hands on others.

Ministry of the sons of Aaron

Num 18:1 And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
Num 18:2 And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou with thee, that they may be joined unto thee, and minister unto thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tabernacle of witness.
Num 18:3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only they shall not come nigh the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor ye also, die.
Num 18:4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, for all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
Num 18:5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be NO WRATH ANY MORE upon the children of Israel.
Num 18:6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Israel: to you they are given as a gift for the LORD, to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Num 18:7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything of the altar, and within the vail; and ye shall serve: I have given your priest’s office unto you as a service of gift: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Num 18:8 And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of mine heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance forever.

The priests of God were and are BEING anointed so that they can be set aside and consecrated to SERVE the Lord, and by SERVING the Lord they are being used so that NO MORE WRATH comes upon the children of Israel WITHIN first and then without. For us today, it means we are being made into kings and priests, being saved if we endure.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

MINISTERING to the people, within first, we judge ourselves and love our brethren without. Remember love is the bond of perfection.

Act 5:25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are STANDING IN THE TEMPLE, and TEACHING THE PEOPLE.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1Co 9:13 Do ye not know that they which MINISTER ABOUT THE HOLY THINGS live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

And here is what the priests of God, who have been ORDAINED by the Lord, speak and preach about the temple among other things:

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

God uses the FOOLISHNESS OF PREACHING to spread His Word and to confound/confuse those who are “wise in their own hearts” within and without.

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Being saved is a continuous process just like preaching and teaching is. “Spiritual priests” in this role are given to train up other kings and priests who will all be joined together in the fullness that is to come later after the 1st resurrection. Priests have no dominion over anyone’s faith but rather persuade and declare all the counsel of God Acts 20:27 – 30).

Heb 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Heb 13:14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Heb 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Heb 13:17 Obey (better translation be persuaded) them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Spiritual priests feed the church and declare, with the Words of God, the counsel of God to the flock of God, because they are overseers. As women, first looking within and then without, we do not teach in the church but rather apart from prophesying do this:

1Ti 5:10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Tit 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

Tit 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

The iniquity of the priesthood

The iniquity of the priesthood falls on us all, to learn and be raised up as kings and priests. However, it is God, via His Spirit, who anoints those in whom He would have serve the TEMPLE, the body of Christ, by being overseers NOW in this present age. Think spiritually, it is the man child within that oversees the old man. Without, the Lord appoints elders and overseers of the flock and we as women prophesy and do not teach our elders.

1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

We no longer know no man after the flesh, and just as Christ was a son of man and the Son of God, we must recognize that the Lord still has us all living in temporary tabernacles that we must endure with the guidance and counsel of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Head and anyone following Him will always be pointing to Him in all things. God set some in the church in different functions with different gifts and that includes those that today fill the role of being chosen, anointed and given to “bear the iniquity of the sanctuary” being in service to “bear the iniquity of the priesthood” without in the Body. What is the iniquity of the priesthood? Remember those spiritual words we are to speak?

Teaching, being overseers, speaking the Truth about Life and the Way and pronouncing the commandments of God are all roles which are fulfilled by those given to fill the spiritual function of being a priest in the temple and ministering to the people of God, speaking words of truth and soberness.

Act 26:24 And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
Act 26:25 But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

1Co 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

The honor of being part of the priesthood is found in these Scriptures and that is to be part of the holy first resurrection, when the fullness of times has come, we experience it now in down payment form (2 Cor 1:22).

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand

Suffering for Christ

As the sons of Christ, sons of Aaron in type and shadow, we suffer with Christ. This is the calling of all kings and priests, there is a price we are paying:

2Ti 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him, if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

1Pe 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

High priest

Christ is our High Priest and we are being made into His sons. As He is, so are we (1 John 4:17).

Heb 3:1 (ESV) Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Understanding the connection between Christ and His sons, the Christ, always entails knowing how the High Priest is chosen.

Heb 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Heb 5:2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Heb 5:3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Heb 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee.

The body is made up of “many members in particular”, those members are given gifts, not of themselves but given by God.

1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.

1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Like Joseph in type and shadow, priests are called out from their brothers and are given special clothing and placed and 1) anointed above their brothers. 2) Priest are to teach their brothers. 3) Priests bear the ark. 4) Priests are to blow the seven trumpets of judgment, and 5) Priests are to blow the two trumpets of witness.

1) Priests are anointed “above their fellows.”

Psa 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed [mashach – #4886] thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed [chrio -5548] thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

2) Priests are faithful teachers:

1Sa 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

2Ki 17:27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

Mar 8:31 And he [Christ] began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

3) Priests bear the ark;

Jos 3:8 And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.

2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Priests stands firm on the doctrine of Christ:

Jos 4:10 For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until everything was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
Jos 4:11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed overand the priests, in the presence of the people. [Or to put this in New Testament terms:]

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

4) Only the priests blow the seven trumpets:

1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Jos 6:13 And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rearward came after the ark of the LORD, [the priests] going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

Jos 6:16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

Rev 8:2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. …….. Rev 8:6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

5) Only the priests blow the two silver trumpets. These trumpets announce general gatherings, alarms for journeys, special gatherings, and to go to war in our land Num 10:1 – 7,9).

Num 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance forever throughout your generations.

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Conclusion

God’s anointed priests who live in “the day of small things”, are those who are being made faithful to His Words.

1Co 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Jesus Christ IS making holy garments for His prophets so that they too can be used to show the glory and beauty of the work of the Lord.

Exo 28:3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

Moses as type and shadow of Christ, will do the making by “speaking to the wise hearted who have the spirit of wisdom (Christ)” so that they can make these garments of consecration. We are prophets the Lord uses to minister to others. Priests wear holy garments to approach the Lord properly. We see six different items being made: A breastplate, and ephod, a robe, a broidered coat, a mitre and a girdle.

Exo 28:4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

Priests, sons of Aaron, have been ordained by God and are being clothed with items that the children of Israel are using to create to give God all the glory. We, the spiritual Jews, the Bride of Christ, come together to represent all the many membered functions and gifts of the body of Christ. The image of the items given to the priests to wear and what they represent tells us that Christ takes His judgments seriously. Sons of Aaron, minister inside the vail and are the covering cherubs guarding the Words of Life (John 6:63), doers of His Word, coming out of the Levites who coming behind in no gift are yet carnal. We are all spiritual Levites and sons of Aaron in our seasons and times because we live by every Word of God (Matt 4:4). Look inwardly is, was and will be as the Lord is working with us through Christ and His sons (Heb 13:21).

Spiritual Levites have the appearance of godliness but the sons of Christ have the POWER of Life which are ……. the Words that I am speaking (John 6:63). They continue to abide in Christ and is being made faithful.

The Burnt Offering

The Burnt Offering

(notes compiled from various teachings of elders)

All things that happened in the old testament to physical Israel was done for the benefit of God’s Elect who would come along much later.

1Pe 1:9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1Pe 1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

1Pe 1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

1Pe 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

The ministration of the prophets, include the prophet Moses and all the rituals that the Lord gave them to perform.  Those things are all just the shadow of the true things to come when the true light Jesus Christ comes into the lives of His Chosen Elect.  All of these things are written in parables and are for our admonition so we best understand and heed the spiritual lesson being taught.

Hos 12:10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

The carnal world teaches these events as a history and outward lesson missing completely the message and meaning that is only gleaned by comparing spiritual to spiritual.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

For those with ears to hear and eyes to see, given by the Lord,  the recompiled studies on the Law of the Offerings will be a great refresher and reminder of how we are to serve the Lord in spirit and in truth.

Introduction:

Do you “desire to look into what was testified beforehand [of] the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow?”

If you do desire to “know God and Jesus Christ whom He hath sent,” then to do so is to come to see Christ as the Father Himself sees Christ and the work He is performing on our behalf. The only way to do that is to see Christ through His Word which is full of the proper way to approach God through His Son as revealed in the law of the offerings.

Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

Joh 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Do you want power over all flesh? Do you want eternal/age abiding life? It is through Christ ONLY that anyone can know the Father.

Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

It is through Christ that the Father reveals Himself. And He has chosen to do this through the Law of the Offerings.

The Five Types of Offerings

The offices of Christ are many and varied and by grace THROUGH faith, Christ fulfills all of these various sacrifices.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Here are those five types of sacrifices:  The burnt offering, 2) the meat (meal) offering, 3) the peace offering, 4) the sin offering and 5) the trespass offering.

The five offerings are divided into two distinct categories. The first three are what Scripture refers to as “sweet smelling savor” offerings. The last two are not sweet smelling savor offerings and must be taken without the camp and burnt.

Exo 29:14 But the flesh of the bullock, and his skin, and his dung, shalt thou burn with fire without the camp: it is a sin offering.

It is in our understanding of these five types of offerings that our JOY and our STRENGHTH depend because it is through our knowledge of Christ that we know God, the Father and it is through knowing God and Christ and “His Christ” that we have LIFE/AGE ABIDING.

Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Knowledge can and does puff up our flesh in our seasons:

1Co 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Christ will humble and is humbling us when we are in this state:

Luk 1:51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Jas 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

These words are also true in the Sum of His Word:

Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

We are to be priests to Christ like the OT shadow illustrates, Joseph being a TYPE of Christ:

Gen 47:22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

These Egyptian priests were under Joseph, but they were also with Joseph to the point that they were not required to sell him their lands. This typifies those sons of God, who is selling their lands in this “age” while yet in the flesh and now are able with Joseph to rule over Joseph’s brothers. These priests are those (sons of God) who want to know God, the Father and Christ and “His Christ” while in this flesh. The offerings are important to them.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

These offerings introduce us to Christ as God, the Father wants us to know Christ. And this is how we GROW in Christ:

Heb 9:6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

If we want to serve God, we must know what is ordained to accomplish the service of God. Yes, knowledge puffs us up but it is also true that it is necessary to know how God, the Father, sees Christ because as He is so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). It is important to see how the Father sees us, through Christ.

As priests, the shadows of the offerings in the OT, teaches us TODAY, the spiritual REALITY, SERVING the Father through Christ and “His Christ”, as we go about our daily lives reaching out for the high calling as Christ’s kings and priests.

The Burnt Offering:

The Burnt Offering Is Different from all the other Offerings:

1) It is a sweet savor offering, and 2) it was offered for acceptance. In both of these ways it differed from the sin offerings. 3) The burnt offering was the offering of a life, and in this way it differs from the meat (or meal) offering. 4) It was entirely burnt, and in this way it differs from all the other offerings.

The Law of the Burnt Offering:

Let us now look at the shadow of the burnt offering with its three categories.  There are three categories as three in Scripture symbolizes our spiritual progression from a babe in Christ to a mature man.  The Lord symbolizes this progression starting with the most mature (the herd) and going backwards to the Flocks and then to the Fowls.

Lev 1:1 And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Lev 1:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.

There is a big difference in sacrificing a bullock (herd) and a bird (fowl) yet the Lord has provisioned a way for all men to approach Him and worship Him no matter their level of spiritual maturity.

The Herd:

Lev 1:3 If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.

Lev 1:4 And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him.

Lev 1:5 And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

Lev 1:6 And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces.

Lev 1:7  And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:

Lev 1:8  And the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Lev 1:9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

1) He shall put his hand upon the head. 2) He shall kill the bullock. 3) He shall flay the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. 4) His inward parts and his legs shall he wash in water.

The Flocks:

Lev 1:10 And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish

Lev 1:11 And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar.

Lev 1:12 And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:

Lev 1:13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

1) He shall kill it on the north side of the altar. 2) He shall cut it in pieces. 3) He shall wash the inwards and the legs.

The Fowl:

Lev 1:14 And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons.

Lev 1:15  And the priest shall bring it unto the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and the blood thereof shall be wrung out at the side of the altar:

Lev 1:16  And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes:

Lev 1:17  And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

1) He shall pluck away his crop and his feathers. 2) He shall cleave it with the wings. He does not even do the killing. The priest does that for him. He does not place his hands on the head. He does not separate the head and the fat. He does not wash the legs and the inwards with water.

In every grade of this type, the burnt offering, is ALL “a sweet savor unto the Lord.” Sin is not in view. Man is “IN Christ” found pleasing to God. God, the Father, is nourished and satisfied. Neither the priest nor the offerer eat of the burnt offering. In the other sweet smelling oblations, Christ nourishes and feeds the priests, but in this offering it all belongs to the Father. It is all burned upon the brazen altar.

The Old/SHADOW:

Lev 1:9 But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

Lev 1:13 But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

Lev 1:17 And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.

The New/REALITY:

2Co 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

Phi 4:18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.

That is the spiritual significance of the burnt offering. It is an APPROACH present. It is a sweet savor with which man pleases God. The spiritual significance of the burnt offering is Christ IN US overcoming and dying daily to sin, pleasing God and smelling sweet to God, the Father, THROUGH Christ.

Sin is NOT in view in this offering. We do NOT see Christ as “sin for us.”

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Instead we see Christ offered as “a sacrifice to the Father for a sweet smelling savor.” We are being offered and this is a sweet smell to our FATHER.

Eph 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.

It is the only offering which is wholly burnt unto the Father.

2Co 2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ,

God’s burnt offering/us, are being cleansed through baptism (washing of water by the Word), we understand that we are being judged from the “north” (burned upon the altar), we understand that we have fellowship with the Father through Christ, and that our ‘head, inward parts and the very best we have to offer, the fat,’ are all God’s and are offered first.

Summary:

It is very important that we know all we possibly can about who Christ and “His Christ” is and what He has accomplished and still accomplishes in us every day if we are His.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

The Father does not want animal offerings and animal sacrifices, the shadows, which points to Christ and “His Christ”. He has and IS preparing a Body for us through Christ and “His Christ”.

Psa 40:6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

What is this “Body He is preparing for us?”

Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

What is the “temple” of His Body?

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

“Ye are the temple of God”, and all of the offerings we will be studying are and is being offered by a PRIEST/Son of Aaron, only “where I have placed My Name”, which was only at the tabernacle first and then later at the Temple in Jerusalem.

Lev 2:2 And he shall bring it to Aaron’s sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:

Lev 4:5 And the priest that is anointed shall take of the bullock’s blood, and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation:

None of this was and IS true before coming out of Egypt/Orthodoxy/Babylon. Everyone “kills his own Passover and eat it in his own home”. In other words, we worship the Father and Christ according to the Law of Moses and being under the Law of the Gentiles, which are the same thing. Having our own ideas about worshipping Christ being under “men” and traditions of this world.

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Only now, in the Day of the Lord, we are being “given ears to hear and eyes to see”, are we made to know that there is a PRESCRIBED way in which we have to approach the Father, Christ and “His Christ”. Only now are we made to know that it must be through a “priest” within and without and at a certain place where He is placing His Name. Only now are we made aware that we are to present all of our sacrifices at God’s altar (the cross) which is God’s table in a prescribed manner.

Mal 1:10 Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? Neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

Mal 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

Mal 1:12 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

The altar is God’s table. Now notice this about who can eat at God’s table.

Lev 21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

Lev 21:22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

Lev 21:23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profanes not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

2Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

“The glory” is “doing the things I say.”

Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

We are the Temple of God individually and collectively as a Body. The Lord has and IS placing His Name/His Word IN us and we eat at His table the pure unadulterated Word of God given by His priests and WALKING OUT HIS DOCTRINE, dying daily overcoming sin, is how the burnt offering IS BEING FULFILLED in us. WE APPROACH GOD, THE FATHER, BY DOING THE THINGS THAT HE SAYS THROUGH CHRIST AND “HIS CHRIST”, a sweet savor to God, Christ IN us, the Hope of Glory!

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

The different grades/varieties in this burnt offering reflect the degree of understanding (OUR MATURITY) which we have of Christ. In the higher grades of the herd and flock, we have a degree of understanding which a mature Christian has of Christ’s thoughts and His mind and His heart.

There is very little understanding of the walk and mind and thoughts of Christ in the grade of the fowl in this season of our walk. It takes time to come to see Christ in His walk and in all of His various and wonderful offices. It takes time to come to see Christ as both the sweet-smelling savor offering and as a non-sweet-smelling savor offering. It takes time to come to see Christ as being “made sin” and at the same time being “without blemish.” It takes time to come to see Christ as all of these five offerings with all of their varieties.

The next offering of the Law of the Offerings will be the Meat offering also known as the  Meal offering.
