“Because of Violence in the Land”

We continue in Habakkuk with the Lord answering the prophet’s complaints about the experience of evil all God’s people are experiencing to be humbled (Ecc 1:13) and have the pride of life burned out of us by fiery trials and judgment.  There should be no surprise to any of us about what the time of the end, the appointed time for each of us to die with Christ is all about.

1Pe 4:12  Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

We pick up with the third pronouncement of woe against the man of sin that continues to make merchandise in the Lord’s Holy Temple with the lies of the great harlot Spiritual Babylon.

Hab 2:12  Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity!

Hab 2:13  Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

Hab 2:14  For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Hab 2:15  Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Hab 2:16  Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.

Hab 2:17  For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.

The time of the end of our carnal way of life is defined by these five woes of judgment.  We are saved by the chastening, scourging, fiery grace of God that is only given to the precious few the Lord is dragging to Himself in this age (1Pe 4:17).  This is all the profit of the new man.

Heb 12:10  For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

Heb 12:11  Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby

The Lord wastes nothing in our life.  All things are for our sakes that the glory of God (our obedience) might be made manifest as a result of His grace being poured out (2Co 4;15).  All of it, the good, the bad, the wickedness are being used to shape and molds us.  The Lord causes us to err from His ways (Isa 63:17, Joh 15:5) so He can prune and mold and shape us as He alone is the Potter working His lumps of clay.

Jer 2:19  Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Rom 9:21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

Rom 9:22  What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Rom 9:23  And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Trials and great afflictions are necessary to burn out the SELF and the I, Me and My out of us.  We come to see the vanity of our own works and the strength of flesh only by first trying to save ourselves and build a city for the Lord.

Gal 2:16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

We are the unfaithful city before we become the faithful city.  That process is called “being saved” and it comes by the true grace of God which include these five woes but is the process spoken about in all the prophets.  The Lord is faithful to His people even when we are not and fall away into lusts and fornication with the world and its gods.

Isa 1:21  How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

Isa 1:23  Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

Isa 1:27  Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

The coming of Christ is the coming of woe unto the old man’s way of life.  As Christ appears inwardly in our personal day of the Lord, we begin to rest from our own labors and enter into the promised rest that remains for the people of God.  The earth, which earth we are, is being silenced as Christ takes His rightful place on the throne of our hearts.

Jer 22:29  O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Jer 22:30  Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

1Co 3:17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Our labor in the Lord is standing on faith.  This is the work of God that enables us to enter into the Lord’s rest being dead to our self-righteous nature.

Joh 6:29  Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Our rest seems like an oxymoron but we need to remember the dichotomy of the old man versus the new man.  It requires much labour and suffering for us to stand on faith and not partake of the world’s meat and way of thinking.

1Ti 4:10  For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

This judgment that comes only to the sons of Christ in this age is exposing our vanity and our fleshly efforts (LABOR) in the fire.  Until we are being humbled, we will not be able to walk by faith, hence all five woes are needed to align us with the Lord’s instructions.

Hab 2:4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

The occasion for the third woe is for building with bloodshed and inequity.  Our flesh cannot let go of its pride and zeal to make a name for ourselves in helping GOD out.

Oba 1:4  Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Mat 23:12  And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

We see this, building the city with blood and inequity, many places in the prophets.  Micah shows how we wrest judgment away and think above what is written in how we think and act in the House of God both within and without ourselves.  Thank God, the Lord sends us trials to cut down the tall prideful trees as we are puffed up with our knowledge.

Mic 3:9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.

Mic 3:10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

Mic 3:11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

Mic 3:12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

It is only the emerging and mature mindset that is being used to build the House of the Lord.  We have to be prepared and matured in the fire of judgment before we are being used of the Lord to build His House.

1Ch 22:7 And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:

1Ch 22:8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.

1Ch 22:9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.

1Ch 22:10 He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.

What is building with blood?  It is killing our brothers and sisters and fellow man all of whom are to be considered Jesus Christ (Mat 25:40, 25:45).  We do that by speaking and trusting in lies and false doctrines that lead us to go above what is written and judge according to the flesh, respecting persons and not standing on faith.  When we serve the old man, and are feeding our beast (Ecc 3:18), we are hating the Lord and His Christ and thus we kill and shed blood.

Eze 13:19  And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

1Jn 3:15  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

This erring from His ways is all the Lord’s doing to have the occasion to bring trials and teach us to labour in His Word which is the fire.

Hab 2:13  Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?

Hab 2:14  For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

The Lord’s people are the fire as we are the representations of Christ in this world (1Jo 4:2, Eph 5:30).

Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Mat 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jer 5:14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

The filling of the earth with knowledge of the glory of God is our being causes to obey the Lord by these fires (Eze 36:27) which is the same as our learning righteousness.

Isa 26:9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

The living waters that represent the Word of God are spoken out of the bellies of God’s sons now and in the lake of fire to come (Joh 7:38).  These waters completely engulf the sea which represents our flesh and the flesh of all mankind.  This is the salvation process in a nut shell as we are being made into the image of God little by little and overcoming all things in the earth and the sea.

Gen 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

But before we get there and stand on the sea of glass mingled with fire (Rev 15), we will have to learn the vanity of doing it by our own strength.  The fourth woe is given for us pushing our leavened bread and false doctrines to gather a following and look upon others instead of the mirror with a critical and fault-finding eye.

The accuser of the brethren is being cast down (Rev 12:10) and is overcome by the new man through the trials and suffering that are destroying the beast and false prophet within us.  Now this judgment is upon the House of God which is the Body of Christ.  This is now the second time the Lord in answering Habakkuk, that our judgment is linked to the blood and violence in the land.  This is a double witness to US, we reap what we sow (Gal 6:7).

Hab 2:8  Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.

Hab 2:17  For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men’s blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.

We sow violence in the kingdom of God within us (Luk 17:20-21) and in our brothers and sisters.  As we saw above, this is serving the flesh and hating our true Master, the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is not those wicked homosexuals in the world Paul was writing about in Romans 1.  He was speaking about God’s elect as are all the Scriptures.  We are those who know the judgment of God yet continue to find pleasure in fleshly pursuits and gainsaying.

Rom 1:29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30  Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, ……

Rom 1:32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

We need to be examining ourselves (2Co 13:5), looking at our own walk (Joh 21:23) and first pulling planks out our own eye before we can help others.

Mat 7:3  NKJV And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Mat 7:5  Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Our maturity comes by our immaturity and disobeying these commands and then learning by the subsequent woes.  Wallowing in the sins and flaws of our brothers and sisters as we feast and drink at the Lord’s table is how we first uncover the nakedness of brothers including the new man within us.  We learn the Lord does the work via His Word but in the appointed times.  By reaping what we have sown, we are learning righteousness in the day the woes are being poured out against the man of sin.

Rom 2:1  Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Rom 2:2  But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

Rom 2:3  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

We speak blasphemy against the Lord and His Christ in our first witness for Christ (Rev 13:5-6) until we ourselves are overcome by the beast within us which are being used to humble us and raise us up in due time (Rev 11:15).  The vials are wrath, the cup of the Lord’s indignation are being poured out by the angels of God as we abide in the Body of Christ and experience our inward Armageddon (Rev 16:13-17) at the seventh vial.

The cup in the right hand of the Lord is symbolism for the Body of Christ being the fire that is saving the Lord’s people now and in the lake of fire to come.  Those who abide in this “everlasting” fire are the ones standing upright and learn who despise the gainsaying of Core and reward seeking ways of Balaam and the merchandising of the great harlot.

Isa 33:14  The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?”

Isa 33:15  He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:

Bringing judgment is the commission of all the Lord’s prophets who are the saviours who save God’s people from their enemies (Neh 9:27, Oba 1:21).  It is the elect who are the Lord’s instruments causing all the nations to drink of the cup.

Jer 25:15  For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it….

Jer 25:17  Then took I the cup at the LORD’S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:

Our circumcision will become uncircumcision in the day our cover is blown and these hidden deeds of darkness are being exposed to us.  As painful as these experiences to be shown just how vile and wicked our flesh can be, it is very necessary to burn out confidence in our own works to save us.  We are being shown the abomination of desolation and the man of sin by the Lord recompensing our wicked deeds upon us.  It is the inward doers of the Word that are being justified not those that have only cleaned the outside of the cup.  There is a deeper meaning to outward than just being a physical Jew.

Rom 2:28  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

Rom 2:29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Lebanon means White Mountain and in these verses, symbolizes our outward righteousness as hypocritical Pharisees.  Christ pronounces woe upon these white washed tombs.

Mat 23:27  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

That is the negative side of the word white, which is likened to spiritual leprosy which is walking by the flesh and not by faith.  The priests of the Lord examine themselves and the brethren for this disease which is identified by white lesions (Lev 13:3-6).  Our adversary, the devil, is clever in transforming himself into this white appearing being.

2Co 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2Co 11:15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Lebanon was the source of wood/ for the Temple of the Lord that Solomon built (1Ki 5:6-14).  But that house built by the hands of men is not the true house built by the Lord’s hands (Col 2:11, Act 7:49) and the chastening of the Word.  The first Temple is the one we build in the conceit of our knowledge and pride by our own works.  And as an old Solomon found out, we too will come to see the vanity of the works of our flesh.

Psa 127:1  A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Ecc 1:2  Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

Ecc 1:3  What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

But thankfully the Lord is faithful to bring these woes (judgments) upon those few He loves and Has chosen to be out of this world in this age (Heb 12:6).  The pride of man, the strength of the flesh, symbolized also by the cedar trees of Lebanon are being devoured and chopped down by the sword of the Lord which includes the wicked nations within us (Psa 17:13, Isa 10:5).

Zec 11:1  Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

Zec 11:2  Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down.

Zec 11:3  There is a voice of the howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of the roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

Earlier in the Isaiah 10 Study, we saw the Lord send the King of Assyria to humble Israel.  This is the violence upon Lebanon that will cover us and bring us to repentance.

Isa 10:33  Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

Isa 10:34  And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

Looking good outwardly means little to the Lord.  He is looking to our hearts and that is where our focus should be as fruit that remains comes only from the good and pure seed of Christ.  Our hearts are being changed little by little and our outward self-righteousness is being burned up as we are reaping what we are sowing living through these five woes of judgment.

Next week Lord willing, we will finish the last of the five woes and move into Habakkuk’s humble prayer of response where he shows the learning that comes by living through the chastening grace of God.

The Two Covenants – Part 1

The Two Covenants Part 1

(compiled from various prior elder studies and FAQs)

In this study, we are looking at the two Covenants in Scriptures and what exactly it means for us today.

Both Covenants namely the Old Covenant (Moses) and the Renewed Covenant (Christ) are likened unto the tree of good and evil and the tree of Life. Both were given by God, the Father, through Christ, and both have served, and is continuing to serve, different and separate functions in the Father’s plan and purpose through Christ and His sons.

The law of Moses was and IS today for a carnal, Christ-rejecting Israel. Yes, “the Israel of God” (Gal 6:16), those who come to know Christ, also shall be cut off (Rom 11:22) if not continuing to see that our standing in Christ brings us out from under the yoke (Act 15:10) of “bondage under the elements of the world” (Gal 4:3). These elements of the world under which we are being kept until we are being brought to Christ, are the law of Moses (Ten Commandments). Once we are brought to the real Christ, the law of the gentiles Rom 2:15 which are one and the same as the law of Moses no longer has dominion over us. This is pivotal to our understanding. All that is in the world is against Christ. If we are not in Christ, and under the law of faith we are not His. This is the law of the Gentiles and where all men are being carnally minded and abiding in death (Rom 8:6).

Rom 2:14  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Rom 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

The inability to distinguish between the two Covenants (Moses & Christ) keeps us from being able to differentiate between the physical Jew and the spiritual Jew. Not being able to differentiate between the old and the renewed is as vital as distinguishing Ishmael from Isaac in the OT shadow. One of them is the heir, no longer under the yoke and bondage to the elements of this world, but the one under the law is the son of the bondwoman who is not being made heir (Gal 4:21-31). Christ are not being in those under the law (Gal 4:19-21). The law of Christ (Gal 6:2) is as superior to the ten commandments and the law of the gentiles as meat is superior to milk.

Let us first look at the differences between the two Covenants, the Old Mosaic Covenant and the renewed Spiritual Covenant.  Here is a table that contrasts at least 30 distinctions with scripture witnesses as these two covenants are radically different.

Let us look at a few principals of what is being said above.

Ministration of Condemnation

Those imprisoned under the law are those to whom the law is addressed in our seasons. The law is not made for a righteous man.

1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners.

Who are those who are under the law? It is all the world and they/we are “all… guilty before God” because the law is a ministration of death (2Co 3:7) and the ministration of condemnation (2Co 3:9). Why is that? Because the law is not at this time saving this world WITHIN and WITHOUT. Christ has no intention of saving the world. On the contrary, He is deliberately blinding the world to His Word and His Christ, within and without.

Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Joh 12:39 Therefore they [God’s people] could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
Joh 12:40 He [God] hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Reformation

Christ is a Reformer as Moses was and His reformation of the law becomes the Law of Christ for this reason:

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Joh 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

This generation is the generation reading these Words. If we read and understand Christ’s Words, we fulfill them. His Words are His Law (John 6:63).

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Rev 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Speaking to Gentile Galatians, Paul is explaining that the promises which appear to the carnal mind to be made only to Abraham and to his “one seed” Isaac, are in spiritual reality being made to Christ and those who are IN Christ. It is only they, who are that “one seed”, to whom those promises ARE actually being given.

Gal 3:26 For ye [Gentile Galatians] are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one [that “one seed… as Isaac was… Abraham’s seed”] in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Being baptized into Christ, are making us children of promise … Abraham’s seed.

Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren [Gentile Galatians], as Isaac was, are the children of promise

Christ tells us:

Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now

Physical Israel was told that God intended to send them a reformer like Moses. What Moses did was just as radical for that period of time as what Christ DOES is, was and will be. What was lawful before Moses IS not lawful after Moses. An example: Abraham and any of the patriarchs could build an altar and offer an offering anywhere. After Moses, that was illegal, and the offerings all had to be done through the priests at the tabernacle and the temple respectively. Moses made many changes, he was a reformer and shadows Christ, the ULTIMATE REFORMER of all times.

Deu 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethrenlike unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

From the beginning, Christ tells Eve that her desire is against her husband, but her husband will and IS ruling over her. Christ is also telling Cain that sin is at the door, but Cain will in the end rule over sin.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to [Hebrew, against] thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto [Hebrew, against] thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Here we have the promise of universal salvation which is still the milk of the Word. Eve’s submission to Christ, and sin’s submission to Cain, are both symbols of the deliverance of all from the rebellion against the Creator into which vanity we are being born.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it].

Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

The hundred and twenty people being in the upper room on Pentecost shadows the very few being chosen out of every generation since Christ, that are being saved in this life and whom the Lord is using to bring to Him the many in the next life. Within first and then without at the appointed times.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

Christ is chastening the Pharisees for their blindness, and while it is true that we all “reap what we sow,” and give an accounting of our stewardship, it is also true that Christ does not intend for the mixed multitudes to be saved who came and come to Him. It was and is their “calling” to crucify Him, the Lord’s MO. All have to reject and kill Christ first before we can have a Savior. It is all by God’s hand and by God’s counsel. We first have the old, then we have the renewed.

Pro 16:4 The LORD hath made all things for himselfyea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Act 4:25 Who [God] by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
Act 4:26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Act 4:28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

Here are the same Scriptures:

Psa 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed,

Christ told the men on the road to Emmaus:

Luk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
Luk 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Moses and all the prophets is all of the Scriptures. They are expounding the things concerning Christ for those whose eyes are being opened to know Him.

Luk 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed [it], and brake, and gave to them.
Luk 24:31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

No one has age abiding life that is to know Christ and His Father, without first “sitting at meat with Him” and spending time in His Word and learning from Him how to rightly divide His Word. That is how He opens the Scriptures to us.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

At first, we walk with Christ and His Christ and do not recognize them until the time for us to “see and know” them.

Luk 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

We come to know that He is still here with us in the flesh of our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being faithful and obedient to His Words.

Act 22:8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

1Jn 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Those who fail to see Christ in the least of these my brothers, do not know Christ.

Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The least of these my brothers is all that are being placed in front of us. God’s sons consider all men to be their neighbors, their brothers and sons of God in time to come.

Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

1Ti 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Law of the Gentiles

While we first encounter the Truth, whilst in the Body of Christ, we do not understand the Law of life, do not understand that our righteousness is to exceed that of the Pharisees. None of this is familiar to us, for the reason given in this verse of Isaiah.

Isa 3:1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

The OT Law says the exact opposite of the NT only in letter, and yet that is what it was to those who lived in OT times. When Christ says, “Leave nothing alive that breaths” that was what He physically means at that time. But when Christ COMES and OPENS our eyes to be able to compare spiritual with spiritual, what IS said of old IS changed. Now we understand that the kingdom of God is within us and “leave nothing alive that breaths” in that kingdom is WITHIN first.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

Christ speaks in Words which man’s wisdom are not being able to understand. There is a change also of the law, but that reformation was ordained and prophesied from the beginning by the Lord who has both dispensations planned from the beginning. He blinds mankind to what He is doing, but He Himself never changes.

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Act 6:14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

It is all for this reason:

Rom 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

The Sabbath

If we are in Christ, we are entering into our sabbath. Anyone who keeps a weekly sabbath is testifying against himself that he is still “under the law” and still has six days in which he is doing his own works. In Christ, we do His works in everything we do, all the days of our lives.

1Co 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Christ had broken the sabbath and claimed to be the Son of God, therefore they seeked to kill Him. As He is, so are we (1 John 4:17).  This is truly a pivotal verse of truth.

Joh 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

Christ and His apostles “as the priests… profane the sabbath and are guiltless”.

Mat 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
Mat 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple.
Mat 12:7 But if ye had known what [this] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Christ and His apostles broke and is breaking the sabbath and they and we are guiltless, because there is a change in the law and in the priesthood.

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

The law of Moses is intended to be shadows of the reality. The law of Moses, is a shadow of the good things to come in and through the reformation that was “Christ’s blood in the New Testament”.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Luk 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup [of wine] is [symbolic of] the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Admonition

All is done for our admonition, so that we learn from the lives of the men in the OT, that the law of Moses IS never intended to change hearts and minds and IS not sufficient to give us life. Even the law of the gentiles which is the same thing. However, the law of Moses IS a very good schoolmaster to bring us to Christ and the law of the gentiles is purging out all of the idols of our wicked hearts being exposed in our day of the Lord, in our day of judgement, that first begins with us.

Gal 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

All these things are “types of us”. Christ uses us, those who accept the reformations and are enduring the same trials, to bring to Christ those others to whom “all these things happened”, it is through the man child within that the rest within are being saved.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

1Co 10:6 Now these things became types of us, for us not to be lusters after evil things, (CLV)

Eph 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Our unbelief (the law) was and IS given by Christ for the purpose of demonstrating that God Himself, is the power which is working all things after the counsel of His own Will. In the end, it is demonstrating that flesh has no glory in the kingdom of God.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1Co 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1Co 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

 Summary

If we are sons of Christ, we have His Spirit in down payment form and we are under the renewed Covenant, the Law of Christ, which is the Law of God, the Father (Heb 10:16). It is the perfect Law of Christ (Gal 6:2), the Law of the Spirit (Rom 8:2), the Law of Righteousness (Rom 9:30-31), the Law of Faith (Rom 3:27), the Law of Liberty (Jas 1:25) and the Law of Life (Gal 3:11, 6:8).

All that is not IN Christ, is against Christ. The carnal mind, being the old mindset, is part of the Lord’s strange work to making us anew. Being under the old, our breasts are full of milk, being wholly at ease in Zion (we have long left orthodoxy (Moses) but still have many idols of the hearts). Christ IS not come yet a second time without sin (Heb 9:28). We are being puffed up with knowledge. This is us, the modern-day Pharisee within.

Job 21:22 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.

Job 21:23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.

Job 21:24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

There is also the Sadducee within us in type and shadow. Christ IS come for us a second time without sin (spiritually), in our day of the Lord, but we never eat with pleasure because of the bitterness of our souls. We do not like the wonderful work God does to the children of men and a root of bitterness defiles us, the spirit of disobedience.

Job 21:25  And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
Job 21:26  They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

The POWER of God, renewing our minds … making us anew, wants us to stop pointing the finger and giving thanks in all things. Making of twain one, under the renewed Covenant, the Law of Liberty.

1Th 5:18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Psa 107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

2Co 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

With Paul therefore, we say:

2Co 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Under the Headship of Christ, our healing comes forth and we are being renewed day by day, the Glory of the Lord our reward. The old waxes old and vanishes away.

Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
