The Lord is Faithful

Key Verses:  Micah 7:16 – 7:20

The most basic promise of God is the salvation of all men. This was what the Lord swore with  an oath to Abraham and reconfirmed with Isaac, Jacob and the Elect Apostles when true faith was given. All men, nations, and families will be saved and they will come to be blessed in the Christ.

Gen 28:14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in The Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

The sum of the Word makes it clear that the blessing being spoken of is the judgment of God that brings salvation. This is how the word of the Lord is performed and works righteousness.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

Psa 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

The Lord is faithful even when men are not. The promise is made and it shall be in the times appointed of the Lord. Our sins are taken away by the remaking of the marred vessel of clay.

Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Here are the final five verses of the Book of Micah.

Mic 7:16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

Mic 7:17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.

Mic 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

Mic 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

Mic 7:20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

These events spoken of in the outward fulfillment span a large number of human years. Even inwardly it seems it takes forever to be transformed and to go through judgment and to be delivered from our sin. Yet the Word says our life is a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. The lies and false doctrines that are nigh unto cursing take a “long” process to be burned out of us. These concluding verses in Micah are part of the same “one dream” (Gen 41:25) that is shown to Lord’s prophets before He brings it pass. In spiritual times, the events in our lives take place quickly and suddenly and like everything else in life, happen exactly on the Lord’s timetable.

Isa 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

These verses in Micah and all of Scripture have both an inward and outward application and are “is, was and will be”. We have seen this prophecy of judgment happening in parallel throughout the whole Book. God’s Elect live this “day” out now in this age. This prophecy (“will be”) is speaking to future events that involve the Elect, specifically the Millennium Reign of Christ and the judgment of all men in the Lake of Fire. It is the Lord’s Christ who will witness for the Lord and rule the earth and minister salvation to all men.

Isa 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

1Co 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? (Millennium Reign)

1Co 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? (Lake of Fire)

Our first verse to look deeper is verse 16.

Mic 7:16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

The Lord is raising up Kings and Priests via the “on the job” experience learned as judgment is executed upon the heathen nations within us and those nations are ruled with a rod of iron. The final training experience for the ultimate role as saviors to all of mankind in the Lake of Fire (Oba 1:21) is the period of outward ruling and reigning with Christ for the 1,000 years. He that overcomes in this age will be given to rule in the ages to come.

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

Not one soul will be converted during the entire Millennium. All men will be yet carnal and separated from the knowledge and wisdom of God. Devoid of ears to hear and eyes to see, those in the flesh under the rule of Christ will be confounded. His ways are above the ways of the flesh and cannot understand the mind of Christ through the prism of the mind of a beast. The rulership of God’s Elect will confound the wisdom of the of the carnal mind of those that populate the earth during this period.

1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Psa 129:5 Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

The outward signs and global rulership will strike great fear in their hearts and keep them in subjection to the Elect who will be reigning over the whole earth.

Rev 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

The people being ruled by Christ will fear because they have yet to learn the perfect love of obedience that casts out fear. Instead they will live in constant fear just as Israel did in the wilderness and Joseph’s brothers’ waiting for Jacob to die and fearful of what “Christ would do to them”.

Deu 11:25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

During the Millennium, Satan will be bound until the little season at the end. It will be a time of peace and as all rebellion will be put down. The yet carnal nations of this earth will hold their peace until the Lord seeks the occasion to put an end to flesh and releases Satan to bring the world against the camp of the saints. This ushers in the final harvest of souls at the white throne judgment which is the lake of fire.

Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Mic 7:17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.

Satan is bound and is therefore no longer eating dust during the Millennium reign. Instead those alive are said to be licking dust. A yet carnal mankind can only think about their carnal reasoning’s in their submission to the rulership of The Christ. This was shown us in type and shadow in the story of Joseph and his brothers.

Gen 42:6 And Joseph was the potentate over the land, the one selling to all the people of the earth. And Joseph’s brothers came in and bowed to him, face down to the earth.

Mankind is all Israel and one day all mankind will be our true brother and sisters in Christ.  They too will lick dust when they also bow down in fear of Christ and the revealing of the sons of God.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Isa 61:9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.

Receiving the prize for overcoming includes being raised up as kings for the Lord and ruling over the nations. Fear of the Lord and fear of His Christ keeps the nations and kingdoms of this earth under firm rule until the little season of rebellion at the end.

Psa 66:3  Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

The serpents (heathen) moving from their holes shows that under the rule of Christ, the people of the earth are being moved from the comfort zone and “hideouts” from the Lord. Psalm 18 reveals this and translates H4526 as “close places”. The enemies of David, are the enemies of Christ and His Christ, and we are made the head of the heathen world who will bow down and serve “Christ”.

Psa 18:43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

Psa 18:44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

Psa 18:45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

The Elect will dictate every minor detail of how the world is governed as the people of the earth submit to Christ.

Mic 7:18  Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

Forgiveness of sins does not mean that restitution is forfeited. Forgiveness of sins does not negate the necessity for justice. Forgiveness of sins does not nullify this truth.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

All the events leading to our salvation are the mercy of the Lord in action. We reviewed this specifically in Part 18 Worshiping in Spirit & Truth where mercy was linked to blotting out of sins or said another way mercy is what ushers in salvation.

Psa 51:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy [H2617] upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Blotting them out is accomplished by the judgment of the Lord that comes from the scourging chastening grace that is given to those the Lord loves (Heb 12:6). The result of mercy is our learning obedience to His commandments.

Psa 119:124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

Pro 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Mercy and love (our obedience) go hand in glove. The scourging grace of God is where mercy is found and what we should look for to hasten the coming of the Lord.

Heb 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

The Lord is executing His plan of the salvation of all men to perfection. Whatsoever His counsel has determined to be done before hand, is done right on schedule (Psa 139:16, Isa 46:10).

1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

Drinking the cup of the Lord’s wrath against our sins in order to learn righteousness is just a small moment of time in the grand scheme of things when compared to “eternal life”. The trials, tribulation, and suffering of mankind all have a purpose in salvation and one day all will look back to understand. That purpose is salvation that comes by us being changed and transformed into the image of God.

Psa 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Isa 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.

The word translated as Pardoneth here in Micah 7:18 is actually the word for bear or long suffering. Substitutionary atonement is a big lie of Babylon. Man will indeed be punished and judged for their sins. But the Lord is long suffering with man. He bears with us for as long as it takes to bring salvation to those He has chosen in this age and ultimately all of mankind.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1Co 13:4  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

The Christ of Christ (His Elect) will be as the Lord (Joh 20:21, 1Jo 4:17). This means we are being taught the patience and longsuffering of the Lord in this age.

1Th 5:14  Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

2Ti 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

The writing of the law of Christ on our SPIRITUAL HEART, comes about by us enduring judgment and being longsuffering in waiting for the Lord. That is the way of salvation.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Mic 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

The Lord turns us into destruction and into sin and He also turns us back. All of this is the Lord’s work in us His vessels of clay over which He is the Potter.

Isa 63:17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

Apart from Christ we truly do NOTHING (Joh 15:5) as the Lord wills and ways in us according to what was declared from the beginning (Isa 46:10, Psa 139:16).

Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

The Lord plan was always to destroy flesh (1Co 15:50). Flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of God and is symbolized in Scripture by the seas. Flesh or the sea is being destroyed and along with it our sins will be no more.

Rev 21:1  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Rev 21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

The Lord’s prayer teaches us to hasten our sanctification and the appearing of the Lord within us. We pray in faith for the Lord’s will be done and those sins, those mountains and the pride of life, to be cast into the sea that “is, was and will be” being destroyed.

Mar 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Here is the concluding verse of the Book of Micah.

Mic 7:20  Thou wilt perform [H5414] the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

It is the WORD of God that works the work of righteousness in all men the very day they begin to hear it. Christ is His Word and it is the Word being preached and heard that sanctifies us and brings salvation in our day of the Lord. This Word of God is a living Word that needs to be given a vessel prepared to hear it and BAM —–> judgment is now on the house of God and the turning back to God, the repentance of mankind begins.

Pro 1:23  Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

The word translated as PERFORM here in the KJV is actually the word that is used hundreds of times as GIVE or DELIVER and variations thereof.  It is only used as perform ONE TIME in nearly 2,000 occurrences.

H5414, nâthan

Total KJV Occurrences: 1984

give, 484

gave, 253

set, 103

giveth, 77

make, 64

perform, 1 – MICAH 7:20

This just confirms faith is a gift and it is that giving of the gift of the WORD which initiates and then completes the work of God in the lives of every man. When the Word is given to a man it never returns void (Isa 55;11). It always accomplishes its purpose.

Jos 21:45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Performing the Truth is performing THE WORD because the Word is Truth.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Psa 119:160 (ASV) The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth forever.

The Body of Christ is the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, through which all men will enter in due time. As the instruments of salvation, we will bring the nations and all men to Christ as we guard the way to the tree of life.

Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Rev 21:23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Rev 21:24  And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

Micah has taught us a lot about the journey towards maturity and our need to be constantly winnowed down via judgment. We have many things to learn but cannot bear them all at once.   Like a child it takes growing up to mature. There are no shortcuts.

Joh 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

If anything I hope this study has given you greater faith in the Word and the promises of the Lord. He will deliver us and is delivering us and all men without fail! This book of Micah gave us some more of the details and it all fits perfectly with what we already knew and hold as the Truth. We need to wait patiently in faith for the Lord.

Php 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Zec 4:9  The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

Hopefully we all aspire to make the first resurrection to be found faithful. The Scriptures do not lie and they tell us that if we are to make it, we must stay together as a Body and continue to strive and labor as we press forward for the prize of the HIGHER CALLING.

Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Our learning the ways of God now in the Body in our day of the Lord will continue in the Millennium and come to a consummation when we shall judge all matters of life in the lake of fire. This is a serious calling and one that requires we abide in the fire now in our suffering and persecution.

Luk 9:22  Saying, The Son of man (Christ, The Elect) must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

We are all getting there on the road to maturity. It sure seems that the day of Christ return to setup His outward kingdom and bring the full redemption to His Elect is not too far away.

1Co 15:51  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

1Co 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Eating Strong Meat

Key Verses:  Micah 7:9 – 7:15

Here near the end of Micah, judgment is in full bloom.   As we saw last week, those being judged are now looking to the Lord.  This is what men do when they are given to know that the bearing of the cup of wrath will hasten the appearing of the Lord within us as the enemies of the new man are destroyed off the earth (Jer 22:29).  Patience is being learned as we wait for the coming of the Lord and experience many trials and temptations that draw us closer to Christ who is the lamp for our walk of faith.

Mic 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Contrary to the Babylonian lie of substitutionary atonement, all men will reap what they sow.  Our sinfulness is punished as our loving Father disciplines us by pouring out His grace in executing judgment.   The Body of Christ lives these words out now as judgment is now on the house of God as our old man is tormented in the presence of the holy angels in “The Christ”.

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

The rest of mankind are reserved to the Lake of Fire to bear their punishment and endure their torment in their appointed time of judgment.

2Pe 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

This prophecy like all prophecies applies in an “is, was and will be” manner.  God’s Elect live them out now, as judgment is now on His House (1Pe 4:17) and the rest of mankind will live them out later in the Great White Throne Judgment in the Lake of Fire. Here are the 7 verses for today’s detailed study in the last chapter of Micah.

Mic 7:9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

Mic 7:10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

Mic 7:11 In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

Mic 7:12 In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

Mic 7:13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

Mic 7:14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

Mic 7:15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

All men have sinned and trespassed against the Lord.  There is no one good no one, not even one!  Simply put, flesh is not good and cannot inherit the kingdom of God.  The way we are made “good” is by the process of judgment that destroys the first vessel.

Jer 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was DESTROYED (marred) in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Losing our old life is required to gain our new life.  This life swapping process is only finished when we take our last breath living a crucified life for Christ Jesus as the Lord set the example we will follow.

Joh 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Mic 7:9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

If we are so blessed to be shown the depths of our sin and given the faith to believe the Word, then we have what is needed to bear the indignation of God against our sin.  We know it is that very process that accomplishes the will of the Lord and brings about our sanctification. In due time, all men are brought to Christ, who is the light unto the world through His Christ (Mat 5:14).  It is there “In Christ”, where we will behold His righteousness and where judgment is, was and will be executed.

Jer 33:15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

Zec 8:16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

The spiritually dead that hear our voice, hear the voice of Christ the True Shepherd and those words will execute judgment.

Joh 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

Joh 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

It is the Body of Christ through whom the Lord works.  We have been given ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and earth because as He is so are we in this world (1Jo 4:17). We are the instruments of judgment and salvation to all men.

The Lord drags us to His Light as the true Jesus Christ is repulsive to flesh and the carnal mind esteems Him not (Isa 53:3).  We don’t decide to follow Him on our own, He turns us into destruction and also turns us back to Him in our day of the Lord (Psa 90:3).

Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Eze 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

It is the consuming fire of the Word that brings forth righteousness.  This does not come by our abiding alone. It come by our abiding in the midst of the fire which is the Body of Christ.

Mic 7:10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

Our enemies that persecute and mock us will be shamed when they see the Lord’s work in us and see that He truly loved those He chastens and scourges. Our enemies shall come bow down before Christ in us.  In this age, it is our inward enemies who seek to suppress and kill Christ within us that will bow down to Christ in us.  However in due time, in the Lake of Fire, our outward enemies will also come bow before us.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

The true sons of God will be made manifest and the whole world will know the chosen few in whom the Lord has been working in ushering His plan for salvation of all men.

Isa 60:14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Of course if we are in that first resurrection we will have forgiven our enemies fully knowing they were mere instruments of the Lord to bring salvation to us and truly knew not what they were doing.

Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

When our enemies behold the truth, they will be in judgment going through the same process the Elect already have been through. To be carnally minded IS DEATH and those thoughts and mindsets represent the dust (mire) of the streets that is trodden down in the day of the Lord.

Isa 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

The time of the Gentiles treading down Jerusalem is fulfilled when the Lord returns for judgment.  Then the enemies of God shall see who The Christ and be ashamed.

Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled….

Luk 21:27 And then shall they see (Behold) the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

It is the Body of Christ who fight and tread down the Lord’s enemies with the Word (Zec 10:5).

Mic 7:11 In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

Christ via The Body of Christ builds the walls and the gates of the Temple which separate us from the heathen world within and without us.  But when that construction project commences, the law of God, the decree, the statutes and ordinances of the Lord are far removed from us as our old way of life continues to manifest.  Our struggles with sin bring doubt and mockers both within is and without as judgment falls upon us.

Act 13:41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The construction of the Temple of God within us commences long before our enemies are subdued within and without.  The Book of Nehemiah shows us this as the escaped remnant from Babylon (The Elect in type and shadow) endured much stumbling as the wall was built until they began to walk in the counsel of the Lord.

Neh 1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.

Neh 10:38 And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

When Christ shows up on the inside to bring war to our heavens, the new man is blessed beyond belief.  Yet it takes much travailing for this inward righteousness to begin to show up on the outside. In the natural it takes several years for good fruit to appear on fruit trees and so it is in the spiritual (Rom 1:20, Heb 12:11).  We must learn patience in waiting for the fruit.

Jas 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

When judgment suddenly comes upon us, it is likened to the days of Noah and Lot.  It is a time of eating, drinking and being merry and then suddenly destruction comes.  Obedience and our focus on treasures in heaven is not yet in view. Our initial testimony is false.  All talk and no action, we continue to make a pretense in our worship of God, seeking gain and making merchandise until a fuller measure of grace is poured out to turn us back to the Lord.

Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not…

Mat 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

Yet we are mere clay, truly the Lord’s workmanship.  He alone is the builder of His House.  He starts the construction and He finishes it right on schedule (Isa 46:10, Isa 64:8).  When the Lord begins working with us and making us into doers, it is the day of small beginnings.

Zec 4:9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

Zec 4:10 For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

The Body of Christ are the eyes of the Lord in bringing judgment and protecting the sheep as faithful watchmen.

The whole of the earth, the inward and the outward will be subject to judgment.  All of the land within and without, every nation, tribe and tongue will become part of the kingdom of God as every knee shall bow.

Rev 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

The Lord uses everything, nothing is wasted in bringing about our sanctification when He is performing His will in our life.  The Lord has devised means to save His people and that includes working the evil and the good (Isa 45:7) to save men. He even raises up the Assyrian King within us and in this world outwardly to bring occasion for judgment and usher in salvation (Isa 10:6).   Those that overcome are symbolized both by those that stand on the Mountain of God and also those that have dominion over the sea.  Earlier in the Micah study we covered these verses which also closely mirror the words of Isaiah 2 and which speak to events of the Lake of Fire when there is no more war.

Mic 4:1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

Flesh is symbolized in Scripture by the sea (Rev 20:8, Rev 16:3).  Ultimately there will be no more seas as all flesh is destroyed by judgment as the last enemy to be destroyed is death which means no more flesh.  This comes to the Elect first in down payment form but ultimately to all mankind at as the Millennium comes to an end and the judgment of the lake of fire commences.

Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Jesus Christ has overcome the world and everything in the world and one day too all men In Christ will be able to spiritually walk on the sea which is symbolic to gaining dominion over sin.

Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

Psa 72:8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.

The fruit of the Spirit begins with Love which is our obedience the judgments of God and the chastening grace causes us to walk in His way (Eze 36:27).  Fruit of the Spirit is manifest in those who “have” and are crucifying the flesh and its evil desires, AFTER we have walked in the fire of judgment.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

As we begin to partake of communion with the Body of Christ we begin to eat at the King’s Table and grow and thereby produce the fruit for which we have been chosen to produce.

Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Being fed the rod is being fed the word of God which judges us in the last day.  What is bitter to the old way of life and the flesh is sweet to the new man and is what nourishes the new man.

Rev 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter

Eze 2:9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;

Eze 2:10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

The Lord’s Elect, the Body speak those words of fire (Jer 5:14) that consume the adversaries of God.  We are they that feed the flock of God and give one another the very spiritual food that grows and matures the new man within us. Christ tells Peter 3 times in John 21 to feed and to nourish His sheep signifying the process of spiritual completion (three) by judgment.

Rev 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Eze 34:16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

These “marvelous” [H6381] works of the Lord are indeed the same “wonderful” [H6381] works of the Lord to the children of men in Psalm 107. These works are His judgments and the trials and tribulations we must endure to be delivered from the world (Egypt) and its carnal way of life.  These many signs and wonders are the many tribulations of Acts 14:22.

Psa 107:15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Isa 8:18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

Carmel, Bashan and Gilead are all places where the Lord’s people gain great spiritual victories.  All those stories are written for our admonition to teach us valuable spiritual truths (1Co 10:11, 1Pe 1:12).  Carmel is where all the lies and false doctrines of Baal are cast out of our heavens (1Ki 18:40) as we kill all the false prophets.

Bashan and Gilead represent the land of King Og and where Israel had a wonderful overcoming experience with a major enemy. King Og was the last obstacle east of the Jordan for Israel to cross over and enter into the promised land and begin to be fruitful and multiply.  For us to advance and mature we must too be overcomers.

Deu 3:3 So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

Deu 3:4 And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

Deu 3:5 All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.

Yet we don’t continue to fight.  We get complacent.  We are warned not to become slothful not to grow weary but continue to strive and endure to the end.  The same shall be saved.

Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

In that day, the Lord will awaken us to righteousness and get us back feeding on our enemies the way we did in type and shadow in Bashan and Gilead. Enemies of Christ are bread for the new man.  The mighty men of the flesh, the bulls of Bashan become food for us.

Num 14:9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.

We learn to eat strong meat as a mature man and that is dying to self, bearing the trials and the afflictions for which all of God’s Elect have been appointed.  This is spiritual nourishment for Christ in is to grow and mature and bear fruit that remains.

Eze 39:18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.

Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Joh 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him

Breaking bread with our fellow brethren is sharing the Word and fellowship with Christ.  Eating the Word is partaking of the suffering and affliction for which all of God’s Elect have been appointed (Phi 1:29).  This is how we endure, dying daily and ultimately become overcomers.

1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

Christ is His Body and the Body is the Tree of Life. As we overcome and conquer the enemies of the Lord, we are eating of the tree of life. The old man is dying and Christ is being raised to eternal life.

Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Eating of this bread, the Body of Christ is the hidden manna that the world does not know.  But we who are overcoming have the mind of Christ and bear His name in a mystery.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Next week Lord willing, we will conclude the Book of Micah and review the final five verses.  A brief summary of the entire book will also be provided to bring to remembrance the things we have studies these past 5 months.

Sincere comments and questions are welcome.  You can also email me at peterjwilson56@gmail.com.

“I Will Look Unto The Lord”

Key Verses:  Micah 7:1 – 7:8

Our Day of the Lord (“that day”) does not come initially upon our hearing and understanding the Truth.  Coming to see the Lord and His Christ we are then given a brief time of silence to consolidate our understanding and prepare for the war (judgments) that are being waged.

Rev 8:1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour…

Rev 8:5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

Christ is revealed in us little by little and therefore the church of God is admonished to wait on the coming and revealing of the Lord both within us and without.  In both cases patience and endurance is needed. We wait on Him to perform His work and thru all this our faith is tested, refined and grown if we have been ordained to be faithful and move on to maturity.

Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Heb 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Php 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

The waiting is our enduring through our judgments and having the old man decreased and the new man, Jesus Christ, within us increased.  We will see this in Micah’s prophecy as those reading, hearing and keeping the things written herein (Rev 1:3) come to see their wretched state and then with this experience begin to rest IN FAITH (not works) and wait for the Lord to deliver us.  Here are the 8 verses for today’s study.

Mic 7:1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

Mic 7:2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

Mic 7:3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

Mic 7:4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

Mic 7:5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

Mic 7:6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

Mic 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

Mic 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

As we begin this chapter, “Woe is me” as the end of the old man is in sight.  We live these words out as we come to see that we and all men are the “abomination of desolation” sitting in the Temple of God (Mat 24:15).  The lawless one, the man of sin, we are, is revealed to us.  Paul tells the church to wait and to remember that day will not come until we see this with clarity.

2Th 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,

2Th 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Judgment is the Lord’s vehicle to show us where we stand with the Lord and exposes our sins and false doctrines.  Bringing us to see the folly and vanity of the fruits of our own labors is an integral part of the Lord’s methods.  In the Day of the Lord for all men, what I call the grace meter (Rom 5:20) is always turned up in concert with our sin.  The resulting heat creates the furnace of affliction (Isa 48:10) and will not fail to turn us back to Him in due time.

Mic 7:1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grape gleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the first ripe fruit.

Modern day gleaning is the act of collecting leftover crops from farmers’ fields after they have been commercially harvested or on fields where it is not economically profitable to harvest. Some ancient cultures promoted gleaning as an early form of a welfare system and this principle are express commandments in the Law of Moses.

Lev 19:10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

God’s elect are the first to be harvested (judged) and are likened to the first fruits of the Lord (Jam 1:18).  The summer harvest is the first fruits (elect) with the main harvest (salvation of all) coming in the fall season.  As God’s elect and the first to follow our Lord as a kind of first fruit, we are given an insatiable spiritual appetite but that desire is not met at first.  A vineyard that has been gleaned is a field without fruit.

Mic 6:15 You shall sow, but not reap; You shall tread the olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; And make sweet wine, but not drink wine.

Having a zeal for the Lord’s House but without knowledge (Rom 10:2) we sow but do not reap and remain in search of the peace and the rest promised in Christ.  While we are told to seek and we shall find, there is also season where we wander seeking truth (food) but do not find it.

Amo 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Amo 8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

This is our state of ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2Ti 3:7).  Our immaturity is quickly exposed in the days of our judgment.  When the Lord manifests evil within our own house, our immature fruit is easily shaken off the tree when judgment comes.

Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Nah 3:12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.

Immature faith when tested will fail.  It is only through experience of good and evil that we come to a mature man and learn to build properly on the Rock.  It will take us a perfect and complete (seven times) number of failures and getting back up to prove worthy to the Lord’s Name.  Through the ongoing chastening we learn as we, the righteous men of God, get back up seven times (Pro 24:16).  Bringing us to our wits ends requires the land to be made desolate and for there to be found no fruit.  The fruit we eat spiritually that grows and matures us comes only after we have endured (Heb 12:11).

Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Mic 7:2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

All men will live these words. All flesh will die and then be judged.  Only the chosen few are given to experience this now.  We see the depravity of all flesh and as the Lord can now say:

Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Ecc 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

All men of the flesh are spiritually speaking natural born hunters who hunt in the world.

Gen 25:27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

Flesh will automatically go to the world (the field) for their meat and not to the Lord and His Christ.  Even after having been given all the gifts and knowledge we still merchandise, play the harlot and seek to kill Christ within us and without.

Nah 3:1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not

Isa 1:21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

The greater damnation (Mat 23:14) is the greater judgment (more stripes) that will come upon you and me, who know what to do and do not do it.  So, it will be with all men in due time.

Mat 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

All men succumb to the 200 million lies of the harlot.  Those lies become the nets by which all men are caught and become the false gods and works of our hands that we worship before the coming of Christ.

Hab 1:15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore, they rejoice and are glad.

Hab 1:16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.

When Christ calls we are told to drop those nets and follow Him.

Mic 7:3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up [H5686]

Mic 7:4 The best of them is as a brier [H2312]: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

The prince and the judge are both us in this apostate stage.  Seeking reward, we pick and choose, add and subtract from the Word; thinking way above what is written “we wrap it up”.  The KJV translation of wrap it up is a long way of saying we pervert the Word of the Lord.

 H5686, ‛âbath, aw-bath’

A primitive root; to interlace, that is, (figuratively) to pervert: – wrap up.

Total KJV occurrences: 1

It is our seeking reward as Micah says that is the root of this perversion.  The reward seeking beast who thinks of his self-righteousness as righteousness will have that righteousness removed.  The same Woe in Micah are the woes Mike is covering in Isaiah chapter 5.

Isa 5:20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Isa 5:23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Briars and thorns spiritually represent lies and false doctrines which pervert the Word and those lies sting us spiritually in due time.

 H2312, chêdeq, khay’-dek

From an unused root meaning to sting; a prickly plant: – brier, thorn

Briars do the same thing the locust do, they sting us.

Rev 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

Isa 9:15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

There is no lie in the Truth and best and most right sounding is still a lie. When the Lord brings judgment that opens our eyes, we go through a period of great perplexity as our light is all turned into darkness by the coming of the Truth in our heavens.

Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Luk 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Luk 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

This hedge built upon lies and false doctrines keeps us in a false peace and security thinking we have already arrived (and not fearing the Lord) is shattered in the day of our visitation (1Th 5:3).  Our looking to the Lord, the coming of the watchmen and our day of visitation are all one and the same thing.  The Lord works through and lives in His people.  It is His Body that speaks the Words that bring judgment to those prepared to hear it. Faith cometh by hearing and that via Words spoken by Christ.  An ambassador is sent among the heathen.

Psa 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Mat 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

The Lord creates both the deceived and those doing the deceiving (Job 12:16).  The hedge is also put there by the Lord and only the Lord takes it away in due time (Job 1:10-12).  The Lord is in the business of separating a people unto Himself (Deu 7:6, 2Co 6:17).  The next few verses speak to that separating process and our maturing into the narrow way.

Mic 7:5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

Come out of her my people (Rev 18:4) is a cry only spiritual ears are hearing.  We hear this frequently on the way to maturity as we have to be taught to build only on the Rock and judge only based on that same Word.  That is what possessing true scales and weights refers to as we looked at in Part 19.  Verse 5 is telling us to put no confidence in the flesh, yours, mine or anyone’s.  Doing s0, makes us an evil worker and it is committing spiritual adultery with the harlot.

Php 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

We have to guard the doors and gateways into our hearts to ensure that what we put in them is not defiled.  A little leaven makes the spiritual food poison so we have to inspect, and examine what we eat and how we are judging.  We only have one way to do that and that is the plumb line, the Word of God.

1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets (and their lies) are gone out into the world.

Amo 7:8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

We must remember how few is the “few chosen” that make of God’s elect.  Not many people, in fact extremely few, a minutia of a minutia have the Truth and speak it.  Many deceivers have gone into the world and the Lord is going to try our faith and test us to see if we will be faithful to the end.  We learn to judge all things on the spiritual scale of the Scriptures.  We must beware the leaven of the Pharisees within and without us.

Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Our family in Christ are the true friends, the precious few, who are of like mind and strive to obey ALL the Lord’s Words.  These are the disciples indeed wherein is found safety in a multitude of counselors.  Christ shows us who our family is, it is the Body of Christ.

Mat 12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

The next verse is the basis for some well-known Scriptures and Words of our Lord.

Mic 7:6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

Christ tells His disciples what His coming to them will bring about.

Mat 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Mat 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Mat 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

I added in verse 34 of Matthew to make the point that this intra-family battle is the result of the sword that is now abiding on the house of God (1Co 3:16).  War in heaven is taking place.  Judgment is on the House of God and there is a battle for the heart and mind of the new man.

2Sa 12:10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

We, being an unfaithful harlot, have had many husbands before we meet the real Christ at the well of living water and begin to drink thereof of our judgment (John 4:18).  We all have committed spiritual adultery and taking another man’s wife like King David did with Uriah.  Reaping what we sow, the Lord pronounces judgment upon us in our day.

2Sa 12:11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour,

Our former friends and members of our carnally minded households have now become enemies of the cross and by extension our enemy who persecute us and seek to kill Christ.

2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Salvation requires man to endure great suffering and persecution and that is especially painful when it is from our own families. Many come into this fellowship and walk in the truth but are not given to endure to the end and they fall away because of the persecution that arises typically from their physical families.

Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Becoming the Lord’s kings and priests, and the instruments by which He will save all mankind is indeed a high calling.  Yet that high calling comes with equally high costs that none of us are willing to pay without Christ dragging us there. It might just cost us everything and we need to be willing to pay it.

Luk 18:28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

Luk 18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,

Luk 18:30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

But knowing the truths we have learned in our judgment process and understanding the plan of God for salvation for His sons first and then ultimately all men, we begin to count tribulation and persecution as a blessing.

1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Jam 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jam 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Here are the final two verses for our study.

Having learned righteousness (Truth) by our judgment, we can now look to the Lord. We have seen ourselves as the harlot and the abomination causing desolation defiling His Temple. Seeing ourselves as the chief of sinners (1Ti 1:15), we are being brought to repentance (Rom 2:4, Psa 90:3). Henceforth we will look to the Lord and to His Christ for wisdom and counsel.

We have been taught to judge righteously and we know that of ourselves we can do no good thing.  We have and are continuing to be taught patience and know we must wait on the Lord to perform His work in us all the while we strive and labor in faith.

Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

We have and continue to learn (maturing in truth) via the ongoing war with our flesh (Gal 5:17).  Knowing of this struggle and that we are not in it alone, we have a Body to cast our cares upon gives us hope for what we cannot yet see.

Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

As mature men of God, we know the ups and downs will come in our walk.  When we fall we will arise quickly (Pro 24:16).  When we find ourselves in darkness, we know where to find Christ, who is the light of this world and the lamp to our walk of faith (Psa 119:105).

Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The Spirit of God is with us and there is no escape.  Through thick and thin, the periods of light or darkness, the Lord is with us.

Psa 139:7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?

Next week Lord willing, we will see the Lord moving through the nations and pardoning the inequity of His people and performing the Word He promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Wicked Scales and Deceitful Weights

Key Verses:  Micah 6:10 – 6:16

The setting here is still judgment living in the Day of the Lord now in this age if we are God’s Elect and in the age to come when all men and flesh shall see the salvation of the Lord (Luk 3:6).  With spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear we are now seeing the true doctrines and the real Jesus Christ and we are now hearing the Word in our heavens which is the rod that corrects us.  We truly are learning righteousness (Isa 26:9) and beginning to understand the Lord’s purposes and strange ways.

Mic 6:9 The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name (Doctrines, The Body): hear ye the rod (The Word), and who hath appointed it.

The last study focused mainly on verse 8 and the three things the Lord shows us He requires in our worship of Him.

Mic 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do judgment and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Here are the last seven verses to complete Chapter 6.

Mic 6:10 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

Mic 6:11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

Mic 6:12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Mic 6:13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

Mic 6:14 Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.

Mic 6:15 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.

Mic 6:16 For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Our obedience to what the Lord requires, comes about when light (truth, the Word) is shined into the hidden darkness and onto the deceitfulness of sin that still lies in our hearts (Luk 8:17, Luk 12:2). Until His work is finished in us and it won’t be until we shed these clay vessels, the Lord has something against us.  The process of judgment and our moving onto a mature man, a perfect man in Christ are one in the same process.  That is the reason the Lord gives us a Body and fills the functions of the church and ministries.

Eph 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

The angels (Elect of God) speak the Word and as the lights unto this world, shine the light on what yet needs work in our walk. Progress towards maturity is being made yet we need to become more diligent in our walk of faith.  The washing of one another’s feet is an important parable of the need for the Body to keep us on the narrow road (Joh 13:14).

Rev 2:18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;

Rev 2:19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Jezebel is most famous for corrupting her husband King Ahab and leading Israel further into fornication with the world and worship of the gods of Baal which are no gods at all but merely lies and false doctrines of the world.

Spiritual adultery and fornication are the works of the flesh (Gal 5:19) and is the outcome of Israel’s failure to come out and be separate (2Co 6:6). True doctrine (our food) is corrupted when we mingle strange fire (the 200 million lies of Rev 9:16) with the Lord’s truths. Inevitably compromises are made, leaven creeps in and one is led astray into spiritual adultery and fornication.  It is what Balaam did in causing Israel to sin (Rev 2:14) and it is what Jezebel did in causing King Ahab and Israel to depart from the living God.  Flattery and smooth talk of the rebellious woman will seduce us away from the truth (doctrine) and into spiritual adultery.

Pro 5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

In order to burn this adultery and fornication out of us, The Lord will put His people, the adulterers and adulteresses of James 4:4 into great tribulation to bring us to repentance.

Let’s now look at these individual verses at a deeper level.

Mic 6:10 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

Mic 6:11 Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances [h3976], and with the bag of deceitful weights [H68]?

Balances and weights refer to much more than our just our honesty in buying and selling things or handling money.  These symbols ultimately speak to our faithfulness to the Lord and how we judge all matters of life.

We weigh things on balances and in the spirit this is discerning between the good and the evil. The word for balances [H3976] comes from the root word which means to give ear, to hearken, to perceive.

H238 – ‘âzan, aw-zan’

A primitive root; probably to expand; but used only as a denominative from H241; to broaden out the ear (with the hand), that is, (by implication) to listen: – give (perceive by the) ear, hear (-ken). See H239.

Here is a pivotal verse in the OT showing us the application of hearkening to the voice of the Lord which requires us to weigh things on spiritual scales.

Exo 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken [H238] to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Giving ear or hearkening to the voice of the Lord requires making judgments based on what the Word says and not based on the wisdom of the world.  A spiritual man judges all things and as we mature we must learn to do this well according to the Ttruth.

Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Mal 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

The word translated as weights [H68] her in Micah 6 is the same word much more often translated as stones.

H68, ‘eben, eh’-ben

From the root of H1129 through the meaning, to build; a stone: – + carbuncle, + mason, + plummet, [chalk-, hail-, bead-, sling-] stone (-ny), (divers) weight (-s).

Total KJV occurrences: 272

Lev_19:36, Deu_25:13, Pro_16:11, Pro_20:10, Pro_20:23, Mic_6:11

Stones are what were used to weigh items on the scales.  The people of God uses the Word of God that is a stone to make these measurements on the scales of judgment.

Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone [H68], a tried stone [H68], a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Isa 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

The treasure in the house of the wicked are the lies and false doctrines of the rebellious old man.  The Lord still has something against us when we hide these deceitful weights and hold them as treasure of our wicked fleshly hearts.  This is feigned worship and contrary to worshiping the Lord in Truth.  False weights and measures are an abomination to the Lord.  Learning to judge properly is important for the future judges of all mankind (1Co 6:2, Oba 1:21)

Lev 19:35 NKJV – You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measurement of length, weight, or volume.

Lev 19:36 NKJV – You shall have honest scales, honest weights [stones H68], an honest ephah, and an honest hin: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

Pro 20:10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

We can’t pick and choose the counsel of God we like and only apply that to our judgments.  We must apply the Sum of thy word which is the only truth.  Anything else is a the scant, lean or short judgment (measure) referenced here in Mic 6:10.  This work of judging, weighing things is also the Lord’s work in us.

Pro 16:11 A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

Mic 6:12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Mic 6:13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

The negative side of knowledge is it puffs us up and makes us rich.  Those riches unaccompanied by the fear of the Lord will be used by flesh to bring forth dishonest scales of judgment.  Mixing lies with truth is doing violence to the Word.  A lying tongue, a false witness and those that do violence are three of the six things the Lord expressly hates (Pro 6:16-19).  All of this comes about because of the influence (enticement) of the harlot that leads our beast and causes a lackadaisical Israel to worship other gods including the works of their own hands.

Pro 7:21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.

The power in the mouth of the locusts are the lies and false doctrines we are seduced into believing and worshipping and thereby doing violence and fornication with the harlot within us and without us.

Rev 9:20  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

Until we are given a true zeal to please God and obey Him, a lascivious “loving the world” spirit will impede us from walking the narrow way.  These hidden lies and false doctrines in our heavens results in spiritual sickness that manifest unrighteous judgments.  This is what our beast and old man do to stay alive in the fire and secretly cling the plagues of Egypt (world) and Babylon (Rev 18:4, Rev 22:18).  A healthy Body within and without is disease/plague free.  A healthy Body judges itself and examines itself often to see if it is still in the faith and not committing fornication and sacrificing to idols.

1Co 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

1Co 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Being diligent requires us to examine ourselves and our walk against the true scales of justice which is the SUM of the Word. It is a high calling that gets higher as we grow. It is our failing to judge righteous judgment that snares men and carnal minds in nets of deception.  Thinking above what is written brings deceit into our spiritual houses and perverts righteous judgment.

Jer 5:26  For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

Jer 5:27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

Jer 5:28  They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

As a false witness for the Lord (hearing but not doing) is not blessed. As we saw recently a witch and a sorcerer, one who uses powers outside the Word shall not be suffered to live (Exo 22:18).

Pro 19:5 A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

The Lord will cause us to err from His way and show us our nakedness in order to correct us via the chastening scourging grace that comes to the sons of God (Heb 12:6). Our spiritually sick condition will ultimately be used for good in our judgment (Jer 2:19).  Christ comes not for the righteous but for the unrighteous and to turn acknowledged sinners to repentance (Luk 5:32).

Mic 6:14 NKJV You shall eat, but not be satisfied; Hunger shall be in your midst. You may carry some away, but shall not save them; And what you do rescue I will give over to the sword.

Mic 6:15 NJKV “You shall sow, but not reap; You shall tread the olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; And make sweet wine, but not drink wine.

In destroying the pride of life, the Lord is going to frustrate our own works/efforts to show us He is the Lord and it is only through Him that our salvation comes.  It is necessary we first live our days in Babylon, deceived by the harlot and the Jezebel’s that cause us to commit fornication, eating defiled bread.  This too is all the Lord’s work and is what brings the occasion for us to drink the cup of wrath.

Lev 26:26  And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
Lev 26:27  And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
Lev 26:28  Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

The Lord builds His House, man does not build it.  The works of our hands are vanity.

Psa 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Becoming at ease in Zion and seeking to build bigger barns is what a self-righteous spirit will do. But that life of gainsaying and coveting worldly mammon will be required of us and it is through that process of having things taken from us that we learn to trust only in the Lord.

Luk 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Luk 12:22  And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

The initiation of our judgment will spoil the fruit of our self-righteousness works and reveal their vanity.  We can no longer be satisfied or be fed by the works of our own hands. All of our fleshly and carnal works turn to nothing in our day of the Lord.

Zep 1:13 Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

Deu 28:39 Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.

Deu 28:40 Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.

It is only the meek, those who are being humbled by judgment and coming to their wits end who shall eat and be satisfied.

Psa 22:26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Mat 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day (our day of the Lord) when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

We will truly learn through our various periods of spiritual famine and thirst.  They are a necessary experience to make us dependent on the Lord and to know that apart from Him, we truly can do nothing (Joh 15:5).

Here is our final verse for the study.

Mic 6:16 For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.

Worshiping the Lord deceitfully is what we first do when we follow the counsels of these two bad kings and do what they did spiritually.  Those lessons were indeed written specifically for our admonition (1Co 10:11. 1Pe 1:12). Ahab was Omri’s son and is arguably most famous marrying an outsider by taking Jezebel as his wife and being in charge when Elijah had the showdown with the false prophets of Baal at Mt. Carmel.

1Ki 16:31  And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

King Omri who was Ahab’s father and a King of Israel who took the throne from King Zimri by violence.  Omri then survived a divided nation coup when he prevailed over his emerging counterpart Tibni by violence.  The whole history of Omri is contained in 1 Kings 16:16-28.   But these Scriptures are not there to just record history, there is a deeper message we must dig up.

Names are almost always instructive and here we see this definition according to Strong’s.

H6018, ‛omrı̂y, om-ree’

From H6014; heaping; Omri, an Israelite: – Omri.

Total KJV occurrences: 18

The root of Omri will be more instructive for our edification.

H6014, aw-mar’

A primitive root; properly apparently to heap; figuratively to chastise (as if piling blows); specifically (as denominative from H6016) to gather grain: – bind sheaves, make merchandise of.

Total KJV occurrences: 3

merchandise, 2

Deu_21:14, Deu_24:7

bindeth, 1

Psa_129:7 (2)

make, 1

Deu_21:14

Before we look at this let’s remember that salvation comes BY JUDGMENT and there is a prescribed way for us to judge and that is to judge righteously, according to the WORD.

Binding sheaves is what Omri means.  Binding is an important step of gathering stocks of grain in a harvest.  Sheaves represent men to be saved as the dream of Joseph and his brothers bowing down to him shows us (Gen 37:7).  There is a right way and a wrong way to harvest the Lord’s crops and bring forth the fruit of the land.  The right was is judge righteously and have no respect of persons meaning all things are known to be the work of the Lord.  It takes faith, mature faith to live to that standard and we are all getting there.

Omri represents the wrong way to serve the Lord.  He stands for one that uses wicked scales and deceitful weights.  Once again in the definition of Omri, we have a direct link to the merchandising ways of flesh.

Deu 24:7  If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise [H6014] of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.

Only the mind of Christ can judge righteously not thinking above what is written.  The self-righteous religious beast (Rev 13:11) that thinks he is helping God out is buying and selling with the mind of the beast and not the mind of Christ.  The primary act as a King that Omri is recorded doing is one involving some merchandizing activities and it did not end well.

1Ki 16:24 And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.

1Ki 16:25 But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.

1Ki 16:26  For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities (leading astray into false ways).

Shemer the Hill that Omri bought means the dregs or lees.

H8106, shemer, sheh’-mer

The same as H8105; Shemer, the name of three Israelites: – Shamer, Shemer.

H8105, shemer, sheh’-mer

From H8104; something preserved, that is, the settlings (plural only) of wine: – dregs, (wines on the) lees.

Total KJV Occurrences: 7

lees, 4

Isa_25:6 (2), Zep_1:11-12 (2)

wines, 2

Isa_25:6 (2)

dregs, 1

Psa_75:8

Shemer is linked to the dregs (lees) of the wine.  Dregs refer to the least desirable of something and in a liquid is the sediment impure bottom of the barrel.  This is the old stuff, the leftovers that has been kept.  The old wine and the law of Moses, the works of the flesh as it relates to WINE, is the dregs.  The dregs is the wine made for a carnal nation (Heb 9:10) but not the true Israel of God to drink.  One cannot put the new wine of Faith in Christ into bottles holding the dregs.  The two do not mix, we cannot serve God and fleshly mammon at the same time.  Furthermore, it is the wicked who drink the dregs of the wine.  The righteous of the Lord drink the Lord’s wine by enduring through a baptism of fire.

Psa 75:8  For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

The good news in all of our judgment is that we learn by it.   It is guaranteed we will drink of the good stuff, the wine that will bring wrath to our old man and sinful ways.  The angels tells us that those who have this mark of the beast will indeed drink of this new wine.

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Omri is you and me in due time as we all live by every word the Lord spoke.  Omri like all flesh when judgment first comes, tries to save (redeem) himself by the works of his own hands and uses that to justify ourselves to the Lord.  But flesh does not build the church of Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ builds it thru His Christ only and it is all of faith and not of any man’s works.

Omri showed zeal but the same zeal for God Paul spoke about.  Such a zeal is not of faith and is what the immature do until they learn to judge righteously by being judged ourselves.themselves.

Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the (carnal) law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

That true church will not be built on a raised up (puffed up prideful) mound of flesh (a hill that is in the world).  It will only be built on the one and only true foundation that is Jesus Christ.

1Co 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

We will of course first do what Omri did and build on a different foundation, on a hill in Samaria.  But our work will be revealed by fire in our day of the Lord.

1Co 3:13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

Next week we will start Chapter 7, the last chapter in Micah.  The fire will quickly begin revealing some things to us on the road to maturity.   Mic 7:1  Woe is me!……..
