Saying the Resurrection is Past

During the recent discussions between the elders an accusation was made that we were teaching and believing the lie that “the resurrection of Christ” was already past.   It was replied but not as clear as it could be, that it was actually these fallen elders who were unknowingly teaching that the resurrection was past.  That is just one of the consequences denying the Second Death and Lake of Fire has on one’s doctrine and beliefs.  Here are those Scriptures that also speak of this lie spreading like cancer in the Body.

2Ti 2:15  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Ti 2:16  But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.

2Ti 2:17  And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort,

2Ti 2:18  who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

A gospel that says we don’t have to follow Christ to our “death to death” [the Second Death] as our Lord did is truly another gospel (Gal 1:8) and profanes the truth and leads us away from godliness and being partakers of His Holiness.  Such godliness is only found by our following Him and dying to death on the cross which is also the Lake of Fire.  As He is so are we, His true Christ, in this world.

1Jn 4:17  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

Being freed from death, the last enemy to be destroyed within us and all men is only done by dying to death.  Here is what our Lord did to set the example for us to follow:

Heb 2:14  Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through [Second] death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Heb 2:15  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Many would rightly say that claiming “the resurrection is past” is speaking to the false doctrine of orthodoxy that Christ did it all for us on the cross.  Of course, we know the lie of substitutionary atonement is yet another of the 200 million lies (Rev 9:16) of the harlot churches of carnal men.  Those being saved are dying to death daily in the Lake of Fire which is the cross we have been given to endure.  Any other way is not the righteousness of God.

Gal 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live [Paul’s reckons himself dead to death], but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Gal 2:21  I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice [dying daily to death], holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Some will say they do profess they are dying daily and carrying their cross but in the next breath deny they must also die to death which is the Second Death.  This is the same thing as there being many Jews that “believed on Christ” but they could not understand or receive His words (Joh 8:31-47).   Those Jews then and also today do not believe on Him in spirit and in truth and thus have another gospel.  We have to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth the mighty work the Lord is doing in us in raising us from death as otherwise we won’t walk into the fire (we will instead deny it) and die with Him.

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Claiming to be the Elect of God (a true Jew) and denying the Second Death and Lake of Fire is claiming the resurrection of Christ is already past and we have already arrived.  Believing such a lie has us denying the scriptural prerequisites (requirements) for being resurrected to eternal life.   Unless we die the Second Death, we cannot be raised with Him.

Rom 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into [Second] death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Rom 6:5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

As has been revealed (Being Raised With Christ Part 1 for a detailed study), the process, the one event of men being given the resurrection of Christ is a two-step process.  We must live out both steps otherwise we will have no part in this age of the resurrection to eternal life where we are given and then grow in the mind of the Lord.

Joh 5:28  Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

Joh 5:29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation

Partaking of the resurrection of damnation is integral to the Lord’s process.  When we deny the Scriptures and take our part of the resurrection of damnation away, we remain spiritually dead in our sins and in need of a spiritual physician.  Only the Spirit of Christ can reveal these truths to us so if we do not see it we are not of His flock and have not the Spirit.  The prerequisite for the coming of Christ the second time for judgment is that we see ourselves as dead and helpless in our sins.

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Only then (afterward) does Christ comes with the judgment that brings the Spirit of God to us and begins our day of the Lord by the gift of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Gospel.

Heb 9:28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

In our previous fellowship, many have been blinded to see the depth of the spirit behind the letters (Joh 6:63) and the hidden truth regarding the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Denying that the resurrection of damnation has any application to them, despite expressed words that say they are sinners and beasts; is a subtle lie that keeps the old man of sin alive and well sitting on God’s throne in our heart.  It also is a subtle remake of the lie that Christ did it all on the cross and our flesh does not need to be condemned like our Lord’s was.  Any man’s resurrection to life does not and cannot come until they first partake of the resurrection of damnation.

Being raised up to damnation is essential for Christ to come to redeem His people.

Rom 7:9  For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Rom 7:10  And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

Rom 7:11  For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Rom 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

It is only when we see our total and complete wretchedness (Rom 7:24) and need to die to death and be rid of this carnal body and mind; that the Lord does comes which moves us into the better resurrection where there is no longer any damnation or condemnation.

Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Mar 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned [the condemnation and damnation continues and the resurrection to life is not come]

It is the spirit of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, both having the law but not the Spirit, that err in not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.  The Pharisees believe in the resurrection, but it is always out there in the future with no personal application to themselves.  The Sadducees believe there is no resurrection.

Act 23:6  But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

Act 23:7  And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

Act 23:8  For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

The deeper meaning of saying the resurrection is past is one believing they are in need of nothing.  That is what we all believe when still in Mystery Babylon and bound to the lies of the harlot.

Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Rev 18:7  In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’

Saying we are already raised in newness of life yet denying we have to partake of the Second Death first will ensure one does not overcome in this age.  Only the new man overcomes and that only by our old man of sin being burned up in the Lake of Fire.  When we deny this we remain in our sins and salvation is elusive.

Rom 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Rom 6:7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Said another way, one saying the resurrection is past, is wresting judgment away which is the only way we come to know the Lord in our day of the Lord.   The only way is by the fire of the Lake of Fire which is the Second Death.  Believing in this, a gift, allows us to press onward and upward for that high calling.

Php 3:10  That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Php 3:11  If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Denying the Second Death which is the other side of the two-edged sword of the First Resurrection is saying the “resurrection is past”.  Denying the resurrection of damnation that produces death in us denies the whole premise of this glorious gospel.

1Ti 1:15  This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Who Spreads the Cancer of “the Resurrection is Past

It is you and me and all men who call themselves men of God who will first spread this cancer before we are given to know the Truth.  Even the names of these two deceivers that spread this false doctrine about the resurrection is significant.  Hymaneus is the Greek God of Weddings

G5211, Humenaios, hoo-men-ah’-yos

From Ὑμήν Humēn (the god of weddings); “hymenaeal”; Hymenaeus, an opponent of Christianity: – Hymenus.

Total KJV occurrences: 2

The church of Christ is not about numbers and getting married to lots of people.  Indeed it is a little flock (Luk 12:32) and only a few chosen (Mat 22:14) are going to be given to find the way of Truth.  Watering down the judgment and denying the Lake of Fire and concocting false doctrines that give the Elect, the first group to receive the blessings, greater gifts and more pay is all of the flesh and designed to draw disciples after oneself.

Act 20:29  For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Act 20:30  Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Isa 30:9  That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

Isa 30:10  Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Anyone who teaches we do not carry a cross to our death and die to death, the Second Death, like Christ did is truly an opponent of true Christianity.  Yet we all are spared only by the Lord’s mercy and His coming to us inwardly with His Spirit.  We all are of the Lord found eating and drinking (knowledge) and given and giving in marriage (seeking to build the church for Christ) when the Lord will call His true people out for Himself.

Luk 17:26  And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Luk 17:27  They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Luk 17:28  Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Luk 17:29  But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Luk 17:30  Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed (within)

Eating and drinking spiritual truths is how we grow in faith (study the Scriptures) and are very important.  But they are not the end all and be all.  All of us, no matter how strong or weak in faith and in God-given abilities to learn and teach the Scriptures are to be first and foremost focused on doing righteousness and remaining at peace and joy with what the Lord is doing in our lives.

Rom 14:17  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

The second name given the heretic(s) teaching the resurrection is past is Philetus.

G5372, Philētos, fil-ay-tos’  Total KJV occurrences: 1

From G5368; amiable; Philetus, an opposer of Christianity: – Philetus.

This name comes from the word for love G5368 which is not the better-known word for love that is G26 or agape which means obedience to the Lord.  The word for love that Philetus is drawn from is “phileō”.  Here are a few verses using G5368 and shows the spirit of Philetus at work in drawing disciples after themselves and seeking preeminence in the congregation.  This kind of love is speaking of our desire for natural affections which is what drives us when death is still alive within us.

Luk 20:46  Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love [G5368] greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

Luk 20:47  Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

The erroneous doctrines that deny the Second Death, the Lake of Fire and even Resurrection to Damnation; among others are true doctrines of devils and we should take great care to avoid fellowship with those the Lord has blinded who teach such things.

Rom 16:17  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them

Rom 16:18  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

The spiritual Sadducees and the Pharisees always will argue and contend with Christ over the resurrection.  But only those partaking of that resurrection to life will understand in their time of the end [end of carnal age].

Dan 12:9  And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Dan 12:10  Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

1Co 2:11  For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

1Co 2:12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
