The Hidden Mystery, Part One

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Mystery we are talking about is the mystery of Christ and His true Bride [Eph 5:32], the Living Church. In today’s study, we look a little at the fiery process of marriage, how we are being made His.

Col 1:26  Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: Col 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

The Lord causes us to mature as He is making us over and we know it is a fiery process. First, we are given faith as a gift [Eph 4:7], and then He comes a second time without sin [Heb 9:28] in our Day of the Lord, which day is now on us, to refine and put us to use in His Kingdom. Faith and walking that faith out [grace and truth], is how we are being made more like Him.

Mal 3:17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Mal 3:18  Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Joh 1:17  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Joh 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

We get to know THEM, God, the Father and Christ whom He is sending, and we know that is eternal life [age abiding life].

Joh 17:1  These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

Joh 17:2  As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Joh 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ (His Body) whom thou has sent

As we mature the Lord CAUSES us to have understanding, inner happiness, worthiness of character, homemakers in His Kingdom and worshippers and we start to act more like the weaker vessel [type of femininity] as His Bride, radiating happiness, health, childlikeness and dependency upon Christ and Him alone. Think spiritually with eyes to see and ears to hear. Think about a physical marriage and how it is supposed to work. There are certain qualities in a woman that make her very appealing to her husband in the natural. So, it is in the Spirit. There are certain qualities that Christ is causing us to have as we mature in Him. In part 1, we look a little at understanding, inner happiness, worthiness of character, homemakers and worshippers. In Part 2, we will Lord willing, look at the rest.

The Lord gives us the gift of faith, each in our own measure to believe what we are not being able to prove. It is a happy state of affairs when we are being caused to encounter the true Christ. The true doctrines of Christ set us free from the lies of the world within and without. We, realizing that we bring nothing to the table, ACCEPT and APPRECIATE all that we are being given for free. We understand that there is no free will involved.

Joh 8:36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Without the gift of faith, there is discord and confusion because the law brings death [Rom 5:17-19]. We are not His if we do not have faith [Rom 8:9].

Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Rom 8:10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you

We are being caused to APPRECIATE the NAME of Christ, what He does for us and how He cares for us.

Psa 8:1  To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. Psa 8:2  Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. Psa 8:3  When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; Psa 8:4  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Psa 8:5  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Psa 8:6  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: Psa 8:7  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; Psa 8:8  The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. Psa 8:9  O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psa 69:30  I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

The Lord was ready to save us and IS saving us.

Isa 38:19  The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth. Isa 38:20  The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the house of the LORD.

Not only do we appreciate the Lord, but we are caused to ADMIRE Him. The Lord wants our admiration, He causes us to put Him first in our lives as we walk the narrow road. This is not the case at the beginning of our walk. Here Christ speaks in the OT.

Zec 1:14 So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

Isa 52:6  Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I. Isa 52:7  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

The Lord causes us to admire how He GUIDES us.

Psa 48:14  For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Joh 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. Joh 16:14  He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. Joh 16:15  All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

We are being caused to stand in awe of how the Lord PROTECTS and PRESERVES us. He is our resting place [roof over our heads in type].

Isa 31:5  As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.

2Ch 6:40  Now, my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 2Ch 6:41  Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. 2Ch 6:42  O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.

We are being caused to see His PROVISION in all aspects of our lives.

Psa 132:13  For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

Psa 132:14  This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. Psa 132:15  I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

Psa 132:16  I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

We come to understand that Christ is the Captain of our salvation. Christ is the Head of the Church. As our Leader, He works all things to the council of His own will [Eph 1:11]. He does not leave us in the dark but reveals and reasons with us to count the cost [Luk 14:26-28].

Joh 15:14  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Joh 15:15  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Here is an admonition:

Isa 1:17  Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Isa 1:18  Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isa 1:19  If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isa 1:20  But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

We follow by honouring Him as our Leader and rest in Him to LET GO  of reasoning and TRUST Him with our whole heart, having one mind and being submissive and obedient to His doctrine. We are being caused to make Him NUMBER ONE as we are the most important to Him:

Heb 13:4  Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. Heb 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Pro 9:6  Forsake the foolish [carnal way], and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Pro 3:1  My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Pro 3:2  For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Pro 3:3  Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

We are being caused to rest in Him and not manage the money. Money symbolizes knowledge. We have to have the knowledge, but we know that wisdom [Christ], excels. In other words, let Christ manages the money [in type], we rest in Him.

Ecc 7:11  Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. Ecc 7:12  For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it. Ecc 7:13  Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

So, we see that Christ loved us first, chose us before the foundation of the world, marries us [given us faith] and then refines us [given us trials] causing us to appreciate and admire Him for His care, guidance, protection and provision. We know that He gives us a roof over our heads [resting place], gives us food [true doctrine] and clothing [His righteousness] as well as relations [Christ in us, the Hope of Glory]. We follow His lead as we are the weaker vessels, the flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone. We forsake all that we have [make Him number one] and let Him handle the money in type [rest in Him]. We know that the fear of the Lord [obedience] is the beginning of wisdom. If we know these things, being caused to do so, we start to know THEM, having age-abiding life. This is how a marriage in the physical is supposed to work.

Inner Happiness, Homemakers and a Worthy Character

Our lives are never free of problems but in this fiery process, the Lord causes us to develop the fruit of the Spirit [Gal 5:22]. But that comes via the process and only after much failure and scourging that is teaching us this fruit (Isa 26:9, Tit 2:11).

Heb 12:11  Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

What causes us to be unhappy? Sin and failure [all caused by Christ]. Here are a few things Christ causes us to do to be filled with joy is, was and will be. He makes us WORKERS at home, we work in His Kingdom, giving service to our brethren [Rom 12:3].

Tit 2:3  The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Tit 2:4  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, Tit 2:5  To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Christ causes us to have His singleness [Col 3:22], being CREATIVE in our service to others.

Isa 11:1  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: Isa 11:2  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Isa 11:3  And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

We make beautiful things spiritually.

Pro 31:10 [GNB]  How hard it is to find a capable wife! She is worth far more than jewels! Pro 31:11  Her husband puts his confidence in her, and he will never be poor. Pro 31:12  As long as she lives, she does him good and never harm. Pro 31:13  She keeps herself busy making wool and linen cloth. Pro 31:14  She brings home food from out-of-the-way places, as merchant ships do. Pro 31:15  She gets up before daylight to prepare food for her family and to tell her servant women what to do. Pro 31:16  She looks at land and buys it, and with money she has earned she plants a vineyard. Pro 31:17  She is a hard worker, strong and industrious.

Pro 31:18  She knows the value of everything she makes, and works late into the night. Pro 31:19  She spins her own thread and weaves her own cloth. Pro 31:20  She is generous to the poor and needy. Pro 31:21  She doesn’t worry when it snows, because her family has warm clothing. Pro 31:22  She makes bedspreads and wears clothes of fine purple linen. Pro 31:23  Her husband is well known, one of the leading citizens. Pro 31:24  She makes clothes and belts, and sells them to merchants. Pro 31:25  She is strong and respected and not afraid of the future. Pro 31:26  She speaks with a gentle wisdom. Pro 31:27  She is always busy and looks after her family’s needs. Pro 31:28  Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her. Pro 31:29  He says, “Many women are good wives, but you are the best of them all.” Pro 31:30  Charm is deceptive and beauty disappears, but a woman who honors the LORD should be praised. Pro 31:31  Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone.

Christ develops in us a WORTHINESS, helping us to overcome sin in our lives [Rom 12:21, Jn 4:4]. Here are the godly attributes we are developing:

2Pe 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 2Pe 1:4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2Pe 1:5  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 2Pe 1:6  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

2Pe 1:7  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

2Pe 1:8  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ causes us to ACCEPT OURSELVES, to know that we can do nothing without Him, not even sin without Him [John 15:5] and therefore we accept ourselves as a marred instrument [Jer 18:4] being made over. We, like our Lord, are being marred in down payment form. As He is, so are we [1 John 4:17].

Isa 52:13  Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. Isa 52:14  As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: Isa 52:15  So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

In accepting things as they are always striving for the prize of the high calling, Christ teaches us to fast and pray spiritually ……

Isa 58:6  Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isa 58:7  Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Isa 58:8  Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Isa 58:9  Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Christ teaches us compassion and love ….

1Pe 3:8  Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Joh 15:12  This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

When we come to know God, the Father and Christ [age abiding life], we are being taught to WORSHIP in Spirit and Truth.

Joh 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Joh 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

This above woman [church] is the true Bride and Beloved of Christ.

Son 7:10  I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.

What a honour and privilege beyond understanding, to be the Bride of Christ, as His Church collectively. What a marriage to be walked out! This is the Lord’s promise to us. As Benjamin [a type of Christ‘s true Church], we, have this promise:

Deu 33:12  And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
