Biblical Truth

The Power of Believing the Gospel

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I have been immensely blessed with a treasure of faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ.  God has been pleased to plant this gift into my heart and every fiber of my being.  Anyone that knows me has noticed a marked change in Pete, especially in the past 6 weeks.  In June 2012, God removed the veil fully and completely that had covered my eyes and kept me seeing the glory and brightness of this glorious gospel.  This is the day the Lord dragged me across the threshold of the door that is Christ.  I entered into His kingdom that day by faith.  The very next day, I had a post up about the goodness of God and the damnable heresy this doctrine of eternal hell that has overtaken the professing church.

I had seen truth before, more and more, but there were still some logs that truly blocked my view.  But God delivered me of them, He touched my eyes and I was instantly healed.   I will never forget it the moment I realized who I was in Christ and that He actually dwelt inside of me and everything He said was absolutely true.  I was a leper cleansed and have not since ceased to thank Him and sing praises to His name.  Several people have asked me what happened.  Of course most think I have become deceived, but I was indeed awakened to righteousness and all by the grace of God.  Here is exactly what happened to me.

Matthew 20:29-34 As they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!31 The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They *said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.” 34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

Like these blind men,  I had been crying out for mercy of late and had earnestly sought true heavenly wisdom.  Boy did God answer this prayer.  Just like these men, I got right up and followed My Lord hearing His voice and speaking what He has told me to speak.  In this post I want to address the power and the boldness that comes along with this great gift and blessing of faith.  God is not a wimpy God, when He calls a disciple and chooses them; He equips them and gives them power to go preach His word with boldness.  This comes with a total absence of fear and doubt, which confounds the wisdom of the carnal mind.  I and others that are in the true faith have been accused of arrogance or boasting, but our actions are no such thing.  We will always give the credit and the glory all to God.  We know the origins of our gift.  But we also do not hold back to avoid offending men.  Tickling ears has never done much but accumulate crowds around men that will speak what their itching ears want to hear.  True disciples will do no such thing as these Scriptures I will share make perfectly clear.

The world will indeed reject the truth and persecute the true disciples of Jesus Christ.  I am learning more and more each day about this and rejoice daily that I can be counted worthy to suffer shame for the name of the Lord and defending this true gospel of good news and glad tidings for all men.  I am not ashamed of this gospel I preach.  I will preach it from the rooftops to the Pope if I have to.  I pray more eyes will be opened and come to truly appreciate what this verse says.

Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

We can see so many examples in Scripture of the equipping of the saints with grace, power and boldness.  Let’s look at the POWER given to disciples and then we will look at the BOLDNESS by which they preached.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

A man chosen by God and healed of their blindness will have NO FEAR.  The perfect love of God will have cast all such fear aside.  We will be fearless yet our motives will be love in getting the truth out and we will deliver it with power.   The above words given to Timothy are spot on correct.

The great Apostle Paul was evidently not a man of strong physical stature but he was quite the Apostle in that he demonstrated miracles yes, but he also spoke with the demonstration of the Spirit and power.  Speaking in power and conviction is a far better way to impart faith than a wimpy powerless testimony.  You see of Paul’s boldness more below in this post.

1 Corinthians 2:3-5 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Paul told us the origins of his power and it was not him, it was a gift from God.

Ephesians 3:7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

The elect of God are no different than the world in many ways.  We have the same corrupt bodies of sinful flesh but we have one thing they lack.  That is the divine power of God working thru us which is the grace of God, freely poured out upon those God chooses.  This is the only way we can live a life of godliness and virtue.  This is the only way we can escape the corrupting influences of the world caused by our fleshly lusts.

2 Peter 1:3-4  His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Speaking to His disciples before His ascension into heaven, the Lord shared these words and told us of this power to come.  Our God is not a wimp.  He gives power to those who will testify for Him.  Makes you wonder how much of this powerless Christianity today is really of God?

ACTS 1:7-8   It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Paul could spot the real thing versus the fake a mile away.  I can do that now too, it really is easy when you have eyes to see.  Writing to the Corinthians, He was going to quickly sort out who was puffed up with their carnal knowledge and who really was in the faith and had the power.

1 Corinthians 4:19-20 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. The kingdom of God is not in word but in power.

An awful lot of puffed up carnal people parading around but without any power.  I had a guy call me up a year ago who told me the exact thing about me.  Of course in my deception I did not receive that input but it was all God preparing me for the day of my blessing.  When God gives you the gift of faith and makes you believe (He is that powerful), you are endued with power.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake

Most people that claim Christ, the many that really do not know Him,  walk, talk and act just like the world with the only difference they have some Scripture knowledge.  Paul speaks of them here in the end times and says they will be without the power and only have an external form of godliness.  So very true!

2 TIM 3:1-6 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power

Jesus Christ is the WORD.   The WORD of God in your heart comes with power.  Head knowledge is not power.  Power is in every fiber of your being.  God will even give you the words to speak when you are ministering to someone of giving a testimony of this awesome gospel and God.  It is not the Bible itself that has this power, it is the living WORD implanted in our hearts, by a gift from God via the Holy Spirit.  It says so right here.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

Once we come to true saving faith through God’s gift, we are kept through this faith for salvation that will be revealed in the last time.  All creation groans waiting for the revealing of the true sons of God.  The chosen few have been begotten of God through His mercy and our inheritance is guaranteed.  That will give you power to act without fear when you truly trust in that promise!

1 Peter 1:3-5   Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

We do not save ourselves by our own filthy rags works of righteousness.  If God is for us, who can be against us?  Why would we worry about what men think, knowing we are in God’s hands and kept by His power.  I still cannot truly grasp the vastness of His great power.  I showed this verse recently but some may have missed its importance.  Pilate thought he had power to crucify Christ and Jesus corrected Him quickly.

John 19:10-11 Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?”  11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above.

God is the source of all power.  No disciple of Christ will ever gloat or boast in what he is doing for God.  We only go where He tells us to go and do what He tells us to do and if anything is actually done, it is God doing it, not us.  We are just humble servants. Peter had to keep reminding the people of this.

Acts 3:12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?

As strong as I feel in the Lord,  I am sure it does not hold a candle to the power the Apostles held being eye witnesses to the death and resurrection of the Lord.  They had a very unique and special calling as the first ones who have given us a great courageous example to follow.

Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

True faith that is given by God as a gift, comes with power.  If you start looking for this you will see it everywhere as I have just scratched the surface with this word “dunamis”, the Greek word for power.

2 Thess 2:11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power

From G1410; force (literally or figuratively); specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself): – ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.

Speaking With Boldness

Jesus and the Apostles gave us great examples on preaching with boldness.  In times when compassion and mercy was needed, like with the woman caught in Adultery, that is what was delivered.  But when speaking to and about religious people that were self righteous thinking it was about their goodness,  no words were minced in what was spoken.

Matthew 23:33  Serpents! brood of vipers! how may ye escape from the judgment of the gehenna?

Galatians 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed

While it is clear that God equips His true disciples with power, this power also comes with a supernatural boldness.  This gets more into the total absence of fear from a man’s life.  When you know and there is ZERO doubt that it is already settled in heaven and that salvation for all men has already been secure, then you become very bold.  You will no longer care about what so and so thinks.  You won’t compromise this WORD OF TRUTH for anyone.  Even a man who has a big following or is a known hot shot pastor, it won’t matter.  God will pour out His Spirit on those He has called and teach them this gospel by revelation.  When given opportunities to testify and the Spirit says go and do it, it will be delivered with boldness.  Here is the definition from Strong’s on two closely linked Greek words that are translated boldness in our Bibles.

From G3956 and a derivative of G4483; all out spokenness, that is, frankness, bluntness, publicity; by implication assurance: – bold (X -ly, -ness, -ness of speech), confidence, X freely, X openly, X plainly (-ness).

Middle voice from G3954; to be frank in utterance, or confident in spirit and demeanor: – be (wax) bold, (preach, speak) boldly.

I guess you can say I am more than a little blunt now a days.  Anyone who has read this blog for a while would be lying to themselves if they did not admit they see a major increase in the power of the words I share and the boldness with which I give them.  I will be making videos soon, God willing and you will see it with your eyes at that time.  But it is not about me, it is about the power that is in this gospel that is mighty to save God’s people.  Let’s just run through some Scriptures that speak of this boldness so you may know where I am coming from.

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

This is how it works in real life.  One gets the Spirit and they begin speaking in boldness.  When I was deceived in my carnal deceptions, I spoke with self confidence but not with boldness.  There is indeed a difference. Notice at Pentecost,  it was not just Peter given this power and boldness, it was all of them.

Here Paul speaks of what drives that boldness.  It is the hope of our faith.  We know that all men shall be saved and God will deliver on His promises and Jesus was the Messiah for all men.  Knowing that will cause one to speak of this glorious gospel with boldness.

2 Corinthians 3:12  Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech,

Again, the boldness is a supernatural thing and its origins are grace from God.  There is no way we can be as bold as we are and need to be in preaching this gospel on our own strength and initiative.

Ephesians 3:12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.

The saints need to be praying for one another.  We pray that we all will be given the power and grace we need to do the work God has given us.  Please pray for me that I will grow in the grace of God and learn how to handle my gift with gentleness and greater humility.

Ephesians 6:19  and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,

The true gospel faced a ton of opposition way back then.  It still does today maybe more so as the entrenched traditions of Christianity, including demonic doctrines of free will and an eternal hell completely strip God of all of His power , paint Him as an utter failure and put Him at the mercy of man.  Such foolish nonsense spoken by unbelievers and antichrists.

1 Thessalonians 2:2 but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much opposition.

Immediately and I mean immediately after his conversion, Paul did not waste any time, even while still in Damascus.  Kind of remind me of my experience.  A man so blessed cannot help but get up and start preaching with boldness.

ACTS 9:26-28  But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.

I may be entering some synagogues (churches) myself in the days ahead.  I see God leading me that direction.  But here is what Paul did when he was sent into the churches.

Acts 19:8 And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God.

The Spirit of God lives inside of us.  We no longer live for ourselves but Christ.  We are not working for salvation but only for a crown of righteousness, the higher calling of God.  This is what drives us to please God and not men and helps fuel the boldness needed to preach this gospel.

Philippians 1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

I know I am selling past the close here.  The point has been made about power and boldness both.  You should examine your walk to see if you have these traits in your testimony.  If not, take it to the Lord and pray.  He is a good God who wants to rain down gifts upon His chosen ones.  He will do it in that I have confidence.

I am now just a fool for God and will preach this simple gospel of salvation for all and faith in Jesus Christ.  This message is power to those who believe it but will always be foolishness to those ensnared into their own self righteousness and puffed up powerless carnal knowledge of Scriptures.  The power is not in the book, it is in the implanted LIVING WORD OF GOD.  This WORD only comes by faith in the Lord and that as a gift.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I love you all and forgive all of you who have attacked and criticized the truth I now preach.  One day you will be ashamed of all of that but know that I do forgive you and I hope you forgive me for all the false things I said in times past.

  1. Nick, I will send you a private email but know I am praying for you. That is exactly how the Body supports one another, we are the messengers and angels of God that bring strength when we are troubled and oppressed. Christ gives us the example.

Luk 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Luk 22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

I pray you will be given the faith to pray as our Lord prayed. Not my will but your will be done Lord. His will is our sanctification and that our actions, our walk, our bodies….THE EARTH….would conform and be obedient to His commandments. It takes the spirit of the Lord, Christ in us, to do this as our flesh is not capable of it. I pray you are strengthened and HIS WILL BE DONE in your earth.

Luk 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

    Your brother in Christ, PETE

  2. I have been touched too by The Lord Our God. The sovereign God of Israel. Please pray for me my spirit is on the low!

Sincere comments and questions are encouraged!
