Falling Away
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the FALLING AWAY comes first
No matter how hard men want to analyze or speculate on the Holy Scriptures, it is perfectly clear that salvation is a journey, an enduring walk of holiness that we must finish. I am a big believer of the truth of eternal security that is spelled out in the Scriptures. But there are clear conditions that come with this promise and that is simply that we continue walking in covenant with God all the way to the end. But the teachings of Once Saved Aways Saved that remove these conditions and cherry pick the truth are lies and are a perversion of the truth as I believe this post will demonstrate.
Jesus did not come to judge the world but to save it. Yet we all will be judged by our deeds by the WORD spoken by Jesus.
John 12:48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.
We best heed the truth and not be ensnared by doctrines of demons and the traditions of men that will lead us astray from the truth. The devil says we can’t fall away. Jesus said the opposite.
John 16:1 Jesus said, All this I have told you so that you will not FALL AWAY
Paul gives the church many warnings about God destroying those that practice rebellion to His Law and thereby defile God’s temple. Please go read this chapter but Paul ends it with a clear warning about overconfidence and any doctrine that remotely comes close to Once Saved Always Saved.
1 Corinthians 10:12 if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t FALL!
Falling away got into our bibles because Christians can indeed fall away. It is indeed a very dangerous doctrine that says we cannot fall away. Such error allows Christians to live focused on worldly things and the lusts of the flesh and claim to be walking with the Lord. We must overcome these things, actually die to their control on our lives and never go back. Otherwise we make God a liar telling Him that His grace is not sufficient for us to live a godly life being led by His Spirit.
The Flood of Deception Defines the End
I have written extensively on the flood of deception. This is the apostasy and the great falling away spoken of by Paul in the opening verse to this post. This falling away from the faith is brought about when we are seduced away and follow things taught by demons. These spirits are the adversary to our Messiah and work under the guise of religion and godliness to actually pull off the deception.
1 Timothy 4:1 – But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will FALL AWAY from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons
If we get hooked into this movement, some of us will fall away from the faith. Paul told us right here that this is what the Holy Spirit expressly spoke. If we fall away from the faith, we are no longer saved my friends. Without faith nobody can please God. Without faith, nobody can be righteous. Without faith, nobody will see the Lord.
I have made this post a permament page on this blog as I want to combat one of the chief lies of our enemy that brings about a false peace and security. The doctrine of eternal security or once saved always saved continues to be taught and believed by the majority of Christians. Teaching the true gospel of repentance and a walk of holiness is just too unpleasant for flesh to hear and does not build numbers or fill the offering buckets nearly as well as the false doctrines being passed off as truth. As a deceived local pastor once told me “we don’t want to scare anyone away”. It is the truth that saves. Fearing God is a very good thing and its elimination from the church enables deceivers to bring in their destructive heresies.
Whether or not an individual is saved or not is not the place of any man to judge; as indeed God does all the saving anyway and He alone knows the hearts of His people. Yet the error of OSAS is likely to influence the choices and response we have to the inevitable and promised temptations and trials of life.
You have heard the saying “when the going gets tough, the tough get going“. In Spiritual wisdom, this cliché could be written.
“When the trials intensify, those of true faith trust only in the LORD”
Paul spoke to Timothy about standing firm and fighting the good fight, knowing full well that many would not endure to the end.
1 Timothy 1:19 I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight, 19holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.
Nobody is saved without faith. The faith that Jesus and the writers of the Bible defined has been so perverted from what is typically found today that I doubt the Apostles would even recognize it. Jesus asked the rhetorical question “when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” The trials are coming, the furnace is getting hotter for all that strive to live a godly life in Christ Jesus. These trials come to both believers and non believers alike but prophecy and the truth of God’s WORD tells us that MANY will fall away from the faith in the end. This has already happened for the most part as what men call church is not church, what we call faith is not faith, even the very image and nature of who God is — has been perverted. Babylon is fallen.
I wanted to be brief in this post and simply highlight the clear Scriptures that make it as clear as the nose on my face, that WE CAN INDEED FALL AWAY FROM THE FAITH. I have written before on one of the all time doctrines of demons called eternal security or Once Saved Always Saved. I have a lengthy post on my blog header titled OSAS if you are so led. But the Scriptures contain numerous passages that make it clear we can fall away and which also warn us about such occurences.
Jesus says in the end, many will fall away
Matthew 24 – Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10“At that time MANY WILL FALL AWAY and will betray one another and hate one another. Jesus goes on to tell us how this comes and the results or evidence of it.
“Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many.12“Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. False teachers are everywhere. They teach doctrines that do not conform one to godliness and out of their greed they are exploiting people for gain and selfish ambition. Be it building an earthly ministry, money or simply esteem and reputation, they draw disciples upon themselves and to do so they must pervert the truth and tickle ears. I am sick of seeing people peddling books, seeking donations and the like so they can serve God. This is the merchandising of religion that the third seal of revelation spoke of. Everyone wants to sell you the truth in return for your money, your labor or your favor. Do not be deceived but pay heed to what Jesus told us countless times.
But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Speaking to the churches, the LORD spoke to those that had fallen away. He warned them that they had better repent and come back to Him. Have you left your first love?
Revelation 2:5 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. ’Therefore remember from where you have FALLEN, and repent
The parable of the sower tells the sad story
This parable which is in all the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) speaks to four types of believers. Only one kind makes it all the way to the end. While interpreting this parable to the Disciples, Jesus again shows us many will fall away by turning their hearts back into the world. This is exactly what Lot’s wife did, she was saved then was lost and you can read that in Luke 17. Here in Luke’s version of the parable of the sower, hear what Jesus said.
Luke 8:13 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation FALL AWAY. This is the truth. Anyone resting on their laurels or what they believed or did in the past becomes prey for the powers of darkness who will test your faith until the day you die. If you fall back into sin, and believe you are saved, you are deceived. You have been sent the GOD SENT delusion that comes to all who love their sin. I pray you will wake up soon as time grows very short.
The Book of Hebrews is about a Walk of Salvation
Writing to the “brothers”, Paul warns against continued sin and hardening of our heart by pursuing things in the world. This is falling away.
Hebrews 3 – See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that TURNS AWAY from the living God. 13But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. There sure is a lot of wasted Scripture if we can’t fall away?? Instead of listening to religious liars and false prophets, we should be heeding the words of God, otherwise we deceive ourselves. The truth will set you free and keep you on guard for the wiles of our enemy.
Hebrews 4:11 – Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one WILL FALL by following their example of disobedience. Disobedience is sinning or committing lawlessness. If we pervert the grace of God into a license for sin, we have fallen from truth. We have been swept away by the flood of deceit that brings about the end. If we do not press on to maturity but stop as an infant or a baby, we will fall away. We must mature, we must be sanctified by coming through the furnace of affliction. Babylon teaches salvation is an event not a walk. They are shedding the blood of the saints with their false gospel and are teaching another Jesus. The Jesus they define is actually the image of the beast as spoken about in Revelation 13.
Hebrews 5 - and having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, …..12For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
I showed this passage in a recent video about the end signs, but speaking about nursing babies that are still on milk and do not press on to maturity – Jesus said WOE UNTO THEM.
Hebrews 6 – It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, IF THEY FALL AWAY, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace. This warning along with the one in Hebrews 10 should be enough for anyone to see the truth about our walk of holiness and endurance unto the end. The fear of God is a very good thing and if one is without that, they do not know the true living God.
Peter’s warnings on false teachers and falling away
Just like in the parable of the sower, Peter shows us we can come to know the truth, operate in a true faith but then can be enticed away. Once we escape the world and its lusts we can never go back there, but that is exactly what the enemy will try to get us to do.
2 Peter 2 – For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. 22It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”
The metaphor of a dog (someone outside of covenant) returning to its own vomit or a pig once washed going back into the mud confirm what falling away means. It means we put on a religious badge but eventually return and pursue the world and the things in the world. We fall from grace, we break covenant with God. We revert to being a DOG when we do this.
There comes a point where we can fall so far and harden our hearts where we cannot receive the true WORD and be healed. That is a fall from faith which is the sin unto death for which there is no recovery and no repentance. This is why we must not play around with sin and need to come out and be separate and touch not what is unclean. We can be deceived, we can be enticed back into the world. Remember Lot’s wife. If we are led astray by false teachers and churches that teach we can keep on practicing sin and be in the will of God, look out below, you are in a free fall from the true gospel.
2 Peter 3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position
Paul’s instructions on appointing elders
I found it interesting that even the instructions Paul gave about appointing elders reference falling into condemnation and out of grace. There is no condemnation for those IN CHRIST, but if we fall away and follow demons and practice sin, we are indeed under condemnation, even an elder or religious big shot.
1 Timothy 3:6-7 … and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and FALL into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Falling Away from the Grace
Grace is the power of God working in us. When we try to make up for our sinfulness and justify practicing sin by fleshly human attempts at being holy and nice, we are practicing a WORKS salvation. We are not being led by the Holy Spirit anymore.
Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have FALLEN AWAY from grace.
This is what many in Babylon are doing. They have put on forms of godliness but deny the power of Yeshua (Jesus) to transform us into a new creation. We do not believe what Abraham believed when we attempt to justify ourselves by all our good deeds. God must do the circumcision, He must give us the new heart. We must believe and stand in His grace being led by the Holy Spirit.
So I hope these clear passages on falling away and the related warnings have opened the eyes of those that have turned their hearts to the world and lusts of the flesh. Do not run your race in vain and rest on false doctrines like eternal security. Jesus will not cast us out, nobody can snatch us out of His hands, but we can on our own free will walk away from the faith by following the wrong spirit and following the deceitfulness of sin. The harlot churches of these end times have created an image of God that is false. There is no fear of the Lord in Babylon.
Romans 11:22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, IF you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off
Don’t wander away from the truth. Don’t let anything get your heart besides Jesus. He demands it all. Many people have fallen away. They have forsaken their first love and have wandered off in pursuit of the world and the things of the world. Guard your heart and beware.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Knowing that I am not walking in righteousness path is really eating at me and I know very well what is holding me back.It is knowing this that really scares me because sinning with knowledge will definitely have severe punishment.
I’ve not been to church for 11months and counting mainly because I just don’t agree with what we are taught.I mean how could they expect me to give thanks to some priest rather than God Himself?Hymns have been altered so as to call a priest’s name rather than Jesus and everyone else seems to be OK with it!
I think being spiritually alone for this long has left me prey to the works of the devil and indeed I gave up the fight but I hope this is the first step to turning back to God.
I have shared your post with fellow Christians because I just found it hard to keep this to myself.I hope they too will see the truth for what it really is…..
@Mosa Praise God that you have been given eyes to see and ears to hear. God allows the truth to be veiled from us but also removes that veil when our hearts are turned back to Him. The goodness of God is that He wishes no man to perish and He will always take us back. Many of us have been the prodigal son. Jesus is and remains the only sacrifcie for sins that can wash us clean, there is no other way. But that WAY, the ROCK stands eternal, immovable and we should run back into the arms of our Father in heaven. A branch can do nothing on its own, we must remain in the vine of true life. Here is a scripture against OSAS & anyone who believes in buying their way to heaven.
Matthew 7v 21-23
Judas was casting out devils. He took part in the ministery # 7, Acts ch 1. Remember devils cannot cast out devils as Jesus said. Judas became the son of perdition #8. Son of perdition is 2 times in the scriptures, it describes the tares. . It describes the 2 factions of evil of those who fell away. I was asked by a sister in Christ to do a breakout study concerning the false doctine of the OSAS, so I will probably be doing that in the very near future.
Jesus planted all GOOD seed in the field, How did the tares get there? men fell ASLEEP and the wicked one sowed them. “and while men slept” People who aare non-believers are nt the tares, the tares are the fallen away ones. God judges the believers first then the rest of the heathen world.
Luke ch 11 tells this story.
Luke 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
Luke 11:25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
he finds his old house a refuge and made ready for him. He says to himself. knowbody is living here, I think I’ll move back in. (putting on the old man).
26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
All of the holiness of that man has turned into unholiness and is replaced with 7 devils of unholiness.
That man plus the 7 evil spirits equales 8, (fallen into perdition).
Revelation 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

On an individual layer of scripture the proper understanding of this verse in Rev 17 is; when a man was not joined with God he “beast that WAS” –meaning that he is the natural man, (Unregenerate in Christ) or simply a brute beast existence # 6.
“and is not”– means that he was in # 7 walking in Christ and he was no longer a beast.”
“even he is of the 8th” He was of the 7, and he took part in the ministry but fell away into perdition “eighth”. 2 Thes 2 “taht man of sin” when he becomes a blackened tare he then is revealed. Judas was revealed in the garden to the other diciples, then the diciples saw that he was a blackened tare. # 8.

On a physical layer in the flesh manifestation of prophesy the modern State of Israel is the beast of revelation.
They were until 70 AD, they were not for 1900 years, and its deadly wound was healed in 1948, # 8 a new beginning .
There is a rendering of Satan and Gog-Magog in this verse as well, the 8th is the little season when Satan is loosed to go out and deceive the nations. The fleshly manifestation of this will permeate out of Jerusalem, the little horn. The new world wide epicentre of religion

Killer article. I believe the doctrine of UNCONDITIONAL eternal security is a dangerous one and a tool the enemy uses. The new covenant certainly has a condition. As with the vine and the branch, remain in Him or you will be cut off.

I am a perfect example of what Pete just wrote about. Im have known about God for about 19 years. But about less than half of that was trully covenant. I struggle with my walk mostly because of self dying to my will. I could honestly say that I being tossed around by the enemy due to lack of understanding of the truth. God has brought me a long way, I ben in life threatning sittuations more than once. One time I ended in the hospital by being in hostile enviroment. God’s mercy as been so great in my life. I’m a perfect example of a prodical son, I dont even deserve to be called His son. By God’s mercy I was enlighten and came to the conclusion that He Truly Is The Good Sheperd. No human pastor ever sought me out during my trouble , and Im not saying they’re aint no faithfull sheperds out in the field just hardly any. But all of this brought me to the place were Im at now ,saved and in my right mind. I hold Christ as my pastor and my only pastor because thats what his taught me trough all this drama. Thats just my personal conviction no mean of any disrespect to any one holding that title. O by the way Petes right we need to endure to end. My story was amazing grace in its full difinition.

The truth is severely under attack. I am getting many people coming at me on FB privately or YouTube comments that are agents of our enemy. We are in a real war for truth. I am so saddened by this apostasy and darkness that has everyone at peace in this world loving it as an enemy of God. Jesus said to not let our hearts be weighed down by these dissipations. The Spirit of God will not let me dwell on these things and I am praying for strength for all of us and greater awakening of HIS children
Pete, its getting bad. I have just reviewed websites about the greatest falling away. Questions on why they aer falling away. The whole world is duped in this strong delusion.
Its simple. Just believe what Christ said. Live it by and in him. Trust him, not wordly thoughts and reasons. Run from physcology, phiosophy and doctrine that tteaches wordly wisdom , or thought process. CHrist has us, though we honestly be so few. I feel such a heaviness. Pete let us focus on the Lord. Keep up the work. Labor my friend. Satan has done much , much damage.
But we who are of our Lord and Savoir Christ shall endure unto the end. Let us praise his name daily. Giving him all honor and all the glory!!! We must stand firm in Him. for who is forgiven of much the same loveth much. I feel such sadness for them. He saved me, i know he would them too. Just praise his name . So no matter what comes against me in this life, persecution, tribulation , hate, whatever. To GOd be the glory, and thank you Lord for sparing something like me. Never take thy spirit from me O lord, lest i be worse than the worst. You are my only Joy and Hope in this life, and the only promise i have of eternal life. May Jesus Bless You Randall. I will add these two in, they are very good and once one sees this truth, you will see it everywhere in the Scriptures. I love the 1 Timothy 5 passage that many do not see the spiritual significance in it.
You have done well. You have showed through the sacred, holy scriptures that what you speak is of God, and not man.
I have just several other scriptures to just add to what you have spoken.
First i just want to Thank God for his mercy an grace, an the love of reading the scriptures he has put in my heart. Hours every day, since may 30 2006. Wise unto salvation.
Heres another few scriptures to help out in the fight for the truefaith once delivered years ago.
First corinthians chap 9 verse 27. But i keep under my body , and bring it into subjection; lest by any means , when i have preached to others , i myself should be a castaway.
( as christ said if a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and burned)
Paul knew. Then in first timothy chapter five verse 11-12 But the younger widows refuse; for when they have begun to wax wanton aginst Christ, they will marry; Having damnation, because they have cast off their FIRST FAITH. See, once saved always saved just not so. Now paul wasnt saying these widows recieved damnation because they remarried. Rather, because they cast off their First Faith. First love spoken of in revelations as well.
So heres to make this clear for others.
Our salvation is not based upon our own actions. Only in Christ, his actions and what he did for us at Calvary. However we must continue on in his goodness, otherwise we too be cut off. Amen Brother. Amen. Just the two extra scriptures. Maybe you can add them to the page. I hope some will email me. I feel like Lott at times. I try and get them to read the word, but they just wont. They want other things, wordlly pursuits and just dont make the time for God. We are to be dead to this world, its affections and desirers.
When Christ appears, then is our Life. As i so love to say. This world just aint my home.
I am dead to its pursuits of selfish ambitions , desires of material, self helps, etc.
My affections now, by the grace of God, above in heaven not on the things of the earth.

I have never in my life, seen such a great falling away. Not from religion, for the prosperity , wordly churches swell into ranks of thousands. But a falling away from the bible, sound doctrine, consenting to wholesome words of Christ. The true faith which was once delivered unto the saints. They instead now run blindly after teachers, teaching exactly what the flesh desires, with a promise of salvation as well.
I have never seen it grow, so fast lately, so large. Churches with over 250000 in attendance. To hear, not Gods doctrine, rather, what man says about it.
All twiested for worldy gain. My cry is for them to forsake the prosperity gospel that man created, and run to the prosperity gospel of truth. The true Christ, that created the church, and run from the false christ created by the church. We must contend for the true faith, we must fight the figth of faith. The end of this age is upon us. Persecution draws nigh for the true believer. But we await a home in the Heavenly. Christ is our hope and not the world, niether the things that are in it. Be blessed.
Thomas, Trust in Jesus. He will finish the work He has started in all believers, IF WE WILL LET HIM. You will suffer, you will endure great trials, but stand in the furnace of life, get your strength from him and not your surrounding environment. When temptations come, call upon His name to help you endure. If you are hating your sin, that is a good sign that the Spirit of God is working in you. If you fall down, get right back up and learn how to battle against the flesh and the enemy that brings the tests.
Proverbs 24:6 for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity
Confess your sin to the Lord and He will forgive you. If you love God with all your heart, you are in covenant. He forgives the sins committed in weakness and error by His children. We don’t have to execute to perfection, but we must be seeking perfection in our hearts. Otherwise we have made sin an idol and are perverting what grace is. Don’t believe the enemy that says you are not and cannot be forgiven. As a prodigal son, return to your Father who will take you back in His loving arms. sir I know that what you say makes sense, and i sometimes fear that i have wondered.. I know that what you’re saying is true. I know there are alot of ear ticklers out there today. I gave the Lord my heart and then got tangled into the things of the world. I need help. I need prayer… I have learned that sin does harden the heart and deceives.
Amen! I love this post. You are so so so so so right! We live in an area where churches tend to promote this universal salvation idea – the closest church to us actually has approved of the abomination of homosexuality in the pulpit. I am astounded at the great falling away that is happening right now – even amongst my own family.
My friend, please don’t let a false doctrine get your heart. You are misreading what Heb 10:14 says. Of course you are kept by the BLOOD, but there is a big fat IF condition put on that. All one has to do is read a little bit more in Hebrew like 10:26 or even this verse from Chapter 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience
Or how about Hebrews 12:14? Or Hebrews 5:9? You can’t cut a verse out of context like most deceived pastors do to tickle the ears of the hearer and give them a false security. If one does not pursue holiness they will not see the Lord period. Jesus is the author of salvation only to those that obey Him. Did you read the parable of the sower in Luke 8? Some believe for a while but in time of temptation (of sin) they fall away. If you have a problem with this, your problem is with God as that is what He said.
You might want to check your image of God to make sure it is not the one portrayed in Revelation 13:11 that comes looking godly with the horns of a lamb but speaketh lies like the dragon (Did God really say you will die if you sin). YES GOD DID SAY THAT. I would not be too cocky about your position on OSAS and Eternal Security.
Romans 11:22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off
Do not dismiss the true gospel. Do not pervert grace and the shed blood of Jesus so you can live a life of sin and rebellion to His commandments and His covenant. I pray the Lord will open your eyes. I almost did not accept your comment because you called me a liar and it was given in the spirit of condemnation and judgment. But I was led to use it as an example of how the religious would come against the true gospel and attack it and its ministers just like they did to Jesus, the Prophets and the Disciplies, of which I am a disciple of the truth. You might want to examine your heart and of what spirit you are following.

Right on, as we used to say a long time ago. The easy way was never the Way with Christ. I just finished reading a letter from T. Austin-Sparks to those who supported his ministry. All the man sought to do was bring all into Christ, and to get Christians away from their dependence on other things, like their religious ways. For that he was persecuted and opposed vehemently by many so-called believers.
That was 1941, and I see no difference for we who follow Christ today. The Way is the way of the cross, and hardship, and self-denial. This Way is unacceptable to many who’ve been brought up on the pablum and baby-stuff of evangelical Christianity.
Keep up the good Word.
