Famine and Drought in the Land

February 10, 2010

Psalm 107:33-36 He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it. 35 He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and dry land into watersprings. 36 There He makes the hungry dwell, that they may establish a city for a dwelling places

God is Sovereign over His creation.  He brings forth both good and evil, feast and famine, rain and drought.  The more we correctly understand the nature and essence of our Living God, the more we will fear the Lord.  Fear of God is indeed the beginning of all true knowledge of God and the only way we receive wisdom from the Lord.  Man in his foolishness and utter stupidity has forsaken the ways of God.  The purpose of this post is to share some revelation I have found in the Scriptures about references to famine and drought and what they actually tell us about the events of today and how we are to walk holy and blameless before the Lord.

We are the temple of God and God dwells in us if we really belong to God.  God is our only source for nourishment. He is the bread of life and He also brings the living waters into us that quench our thirsts.  Without the Holy Spirit working in us, our land is defiled with the nature of Satan, we will be without crops (bread) and be suffering drought without any rain.  Let’s look at a handful of prophetic passages that tell us this is so.

Isaiah 5:13-14 Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude is parched with thirst. Therefore Sheol has enlarged its throat and opened its mouth without measure; and Jerusalem’s splendor, her multitude, her din of revelry and the jubilant within her, descend into it.

These words are not speaking about natural hunger or natural thirst.  Indeed they are speaking to spiritual matters, ones of soul saving importance.  The Lord speaks to Isaiah telling the prophet that God’s people, the believers in Jesus are exiled (removed) from God’s presence by their lack of knowledge.  The honorable men, speak to the Pastors, Shepherds, Elders, Church leaders that are esteemed among men yet they themselves are famished.  This means they do not have the WORD, the truth in their hearts and are false teachers and false prophets.  Because of this famine in the churches,  the congregation is parched with thirst as the Holy Spirit is not with them and is not in their midst.  Sadly, the result of this apostasy is that Sheol (hell) has expanded and the outside worldly splendor of false religion is going down into hell.

Haggai 3:9-11 Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. 10 Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 11 For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.”

The Lord spoke to Haggai about the ruin of His house.  This was speaking to the sin that had not been purged out.  God hates sin and always will punish sin.  When sin is not purged, God brings His righteous judgments upon us, His own people.  He does this on purpose, He is trying to get us to repent and turn back to Him in love, which He defines as obeying His commandments.  When God brings judgment, He takes away the Holy Spirit (withholds the dew), He removes the bread of life (grain and barley),  the new wine and the oil (Holy Spirit) simply is not present in churches and people that love and practice sin.  It does not matter what name they call themselves by or what label they put on themselves or what church they go to.  God brings righteous judgment and He brings it with famine and drought.  I hope you are beginning to see this!  Now maybe we can understand one of the riddles of Jesus.

Luke 19:26 I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

If we walk as Jesus walked, being holy and blameless and hating all sin, we will be blessed with an abundance of food and rain.  To him who has, even more is given.  But to the one the Lord has brought famine and drought to, unless they repent, all truth and any part of the Holy Spirit will be taken away from them and the famine and drought will be intensified.  God wants to break our spirits and get us out of being led by the flesh.  Look back to the Haggai passage and the last sentence.  The work of our flesh is what God pours the famine and drought onto.  Babylon churches try to serve God by the works of their flesh, so they can boast, be esteemed, and be honored among men.  This is foolish men building their own towers into heaven yet they are fools, creating tares and double minded harlots that are an abomination to our HOLY GOD.

Ezekiel 5:16-17 ‘When I send against them the deadly arrows of famine which were for the destruction of those whom I will send to destroy you, then I will also intensify the famine upon you and break the staff of bread. 17‘Moreover, I will send on you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you of children; plague and bloodshed also will pass through you, and I will bring the sword on you. I, the LORD, have spoken.’”

The arrows or fiery darts are indeed the powers of darkness.  They are God’s instruments of judgment and they bring famine inside the church.  They run the men built churches as Scriptures tell us and they come carrying bibles, quoting Jesus but they do violence to the Word.  They pervert it, they twist, their scribes hold lying pens and they deceive the flock. As a result the people of God are famished as the word they are fed is not the true word, it does not nourish or satisfy.  Their temples are then destroyed and if they do not repent,  God says He even intensifies the famine.  We need to start understanding God and build upon a foundation of FEAR OF THE LORD.  He is a jealous God, He is not a cute baby in a manger.   Continuing in this passage from Ezekiel, we see God sending the wild beasts.  This is the powers of darkness, the arch deceivers that serve our Lord and bring about His wrath and anger at sin.  Unless we repent, these demons are unleashed and they destroy our children, bring sickness upon the congregation and cause bloodshed, which means spiritual death and despair.  When will we awake?  Please wake up, the God’s army is already surrounding Jerusalem and have entered into its gates.  Quit looking to Israel the nation or Iran or Russian, it’s here now but most do not see it.

Let’s take a look at a passage from Amos that in plain language defines a famine.

Amos 8:11-12

11“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD,
”When I will send a famine on the land,  (it is here now, the land is barren)

Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing the words of the LORD.
(Truth is hard to find, doctrines of demons are being sold as truth to God’s people)
12“People will stagger from sea to sea (drunk with false doctrines and stumbling blocks)
         And from the north even to the east;
They will go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD,
But they will not find it.  (They will be ever learning but never able to come to knowledge of the truth.  They hunger, they thirst yet they cannot find nourishment and if they think they do, it is a false peace and a false security and they sleep from the wine of false teachings)

Jer 42:17 So all the men who set their mind to go to Egypt to reside there will die by the sword, by famine and by pestilence; and they will have no survivors or refugees from the calamity that I am going to bring on them

We are told that anyone that makes themselves a friend of the world is an enemy of God.  You need to see that Egypt is most often used in Scripture to refer to the world.  That is from where God led Moses and the Israelites out from.  Jesus said that if we look back to the world, like Lot’s wife, we are not worthy for the kingdom and we will be destroyed.  Don’t go back there we are told, yet that is where most people live, their hearts are given to the world and the things in the world.  God says to Jeremiah here, that those believers that go to Egypt will die by sword, famine and sicknesses.  God does it, He will bring about this calamity through His chosen instruments that he created for that purpose — the powers of darkness.

The True Bread of Life

The real Jesus, not the image to the Beast, is the TRUE BREAD OF LIFE.  Without the real Jesus in our hearts and His Spirit leading us, we will be starved and thirsty and never at rest in this life.  We will constantly be looking for nourishment.  We will read many books, we will change churches, we will see shrinks, we will talk to men and get their opinions, we will go and look everywhere but the ONE SOURCE FOR LIFE.  That is the Lord.

Jesus once repeated the words spoken by Moses to the Israelites in the wilderness.  Jesus spoke these same words when dueling with Satan also in the wilderness.

Matthew 4:4 “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

In the gospel of John, Jesus spoke about Himself being the bread of life.

John 6:32-35 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven.  33“For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”  34Then they said to Him, “Lord, always give us this bread.”  35Jesus said to them, ” I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

There are some very interesting insights in this whole passage in John 6 I will need to save for another day.  But Jesus establishes that He is the bread of life and it is He who satisfies ALL spiritual hunger and thirst.  We are not filled by putting on a label “I’m a Christian” or by going to a church or by going to some educated man.  We get filled only by going to God ourselves and supping with Him in an intimate relationship.

You will never be filled prior to overcoming.  Repentance from sin is a requirement to receive the bread of life.  Jesus came to call sinners, TO REPENTANCE.  If we do not repent we will perish from lack of food and lack of water.  We will not know TRUTH (HIM) and we will not have the Holy Spirit.

Revelation 2:17 To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”’  I am being fed hidden manna now that I never knew even existed.  The more I get, the more I want.  The world does not understand this zeal to know God and be intimate with Him.  I didn’t before and mocked and scoffed myself at the few that did.  Better late than never huh?

If you want real bread, not the leavened and poisoned bread served by the Babylon church, you need to go get it at the risk of your life.  All who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus, will be persecuted.  It is a promise.

Lamentation 5:9-11 We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness. 10Our skin has become as hot as an oven, because of the burning heat of famine. 11They ravished the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah.

We have to resist the devil which is the sword in the wilderness.  Those are the wild beast, the same ones that were with Jesus and Satan in Mark 1.  We are going to have to come through the fire and suffer to prove ourselves worthy to God.  If we do not endure or come through this fire, we will be ravished like the foolish virgins will be on the day of judgment.   Seek Him FIRST and His righteousness and all the things you need, bread and water will be added unto you!

Jesus is Living Water

John 4:9,13 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

If we stay the narrow path, the Holy Spirit will be guiding us and directing our paths.  We will continually be fed and watered when we seek the face of God.  When we stray off the narrow path in rebellion to God’s word, we enter the desert and the wilderness.  In these places there is not Holy Spirit, there is drought and famine and wild beast of all kinds, including lions and birds of prey.  I hope some of you are beginning to see this.

Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake You will be put to shame, those who turn away on earth will be written down, because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the LORD

When we forsake God and His commandments the living waters will be no more unless and until we return to God.  God does this, it is His righteous judgment and He will send His instruments of wrath, the powers of darkness to carry out His will.  We will become a parched and desolate landscape.  This desolation is now appearing as the return of the Lord nears.  I see people being destroyed in ignorance yet they cannot understand the Truth.  The abomination in the temple spoken of by the Prophet Daniel is already there, it is just now being revealed.  The false peace and security of many is fading away and will soon totally collapse as the shaking God promised is coming with a vengeance.  Which ROCK are you standing on?  If you are the real rock, the real Jesus then you will not be parched for thirst.  You will be at peace.

Isaiah 43:20 The beasts of the field will glorify Me, the jackals and the ostriches.  Because I have given waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people

Praise God.  He will see us through the wilderness and by Him we will overome the enemy, the wild beasts, jackals, lions etc that walk around trying to devour us with lies.

Staying the Course

God hates sins and always judges sin so His children will repent and return to Him in a walk of holiness.  If you walk IN Christ, you will not sin, period.  That is the good news of the gospel and it is our enemy, the deceiver who has placed himself in the position of God and religion and is leading sheep to the slaughter.  Wake up my brothers and sisters.  Let’s be alert and not let our houses be broken into.  The powers of darkness are coming like the flood right now.  Things in the natural like the economy and jobs and money; relationships with family and friends will all be used to keep us in the world or turn our hearts away from God into the world.  We must stand firm and those God has awakened must be obedient to His call to speak truth.

Sin has always separated us from God.  If you are practicing sin and claim to know God, you are not at peace.  I don’t even need to meet you to know that, that is what God says.  I pray you will heed God’s loving call that will come in discipline and chastisement.  He is looking to turn your heart back to Him and get 100% of it.  Do not harden your hearts and further blind yourself with apostate religion.  Examine yourself:  Are you really hearing from God?  He said you would hear His voice.  If you are not,  alarm bells should be going off.  Wake up.

Romans 8:9 if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

I pray that many will be nourished and pointed to the way the truth and the life by this message.  The judgment of God begins with the people that call Him by His name.  God has taken away the Bread and the Water from the church.  This is the righteous judgment upon Babylon.  You need to come of out of this false religion and awaken to the false security you have been sold as truth.

Isaiah 3:1 For behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stock and the store, the whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water.  God does it, so don’t blame the devil. Repent and turn back to the Lord.  Time is about up.

May God Bless You Richly!

    Brother Pete ,
Sounds like a homerun to me .
Just a few comments by way of asking if you think the following is scritpual.
Do you think that God is raising up a Joseph company in these last days?. Would that be the woman in revelation that is also in the wilderness, who is being nourished( filled with truth of WORD ) by God ?
Are we being prepared by being feed this truth to possibly wittness to the one third of those that come out of the harlot and other folks who God has given a hungar for his Word?
I just ask because Joseph in Egypt may be a shadow of this end time feeding of the brethren . God seems to be preparing an end time people with more and more of his truths and understandings in these end times.
Also I would just add this Illustration in regards to the Truth of the WORD and its effectivness in relation to rebuiding a car motor.
A person putting a car motor back together must follow the instruction manual in order to put it back together correctly.
If the manual says turn this screw a half a turn, and you in your judgement feel it should be turned a full turn, what can you expect by changing the WORD to conform to what you feel?
You get in the car and turn the ignition over and it does not work.
Whatever he says do, whatever the WORD says do, we must do.
Because the slightest change in the WORD will cause it to be ineffectual and not work just like the car motor
    God Bless Jer. 33:3.
