Dew Drops on God’s Highway

February 7, 2010

Very Narrow Path To Life

The LORD is good.  I am continually being attacked and tested and enticed to cease from what I am doing in seeking God.  I am following God and the enemy does not like that so he has sent many to come tear me down.  But I am standing firm on what God has put into my heart.  I pray for wisdom every day and ask for confirmation that I am on the right track.  I have stopped short of asking for a sign from heaven, but I have been asking for multiple confirmations — just like Gideon asked of God as recorded in Judges.

Judges 6:36-40 Then Gideon said to God, “If You will deliver Israel through me, as You have spoken, 37behold, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I will know that You will deliver Israel through me, as You have spoken.”  38And it was so. When he arose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece, he drained the dew from the fleece, a bowl full of water.  39Then Gideon said to God, “Do not let Your anger burn against me that I may speak once more; please let me make a test once more with the fleece, let it now be dry only on the fleece, and let there be dew on all the ground.” 40God did so that night; for it was dry only on the fleece, and dew was on all the ground.

God answered Gideon each time and strengthened His servant and gave him courage to step out and trust God.  God is faithful and He has answered me just like He answered Gideon’s request for confirmation.  I keep on asking as the path God is leading me on is so against the world and my entire life as I have lived it up to this point.  Fiery darts of doubt and unbelief are flying and we know where they originated!  I praise God that every time I have begun to shrink back from His Word, He was brought me strength and confirmation when I have sought it.

I want to give you one example of how God brought me confirmation.  He brings it every day now via what His written Word says, but the other day when I was being hit with doubt, God gave me a supernatural sign of His Covenant and Truth of His Word.

Dew Drops On The Highway

I made a long drive recently from where I live in Florida to Northern Alabama.  I had listened to Milton Green preach the Word and had then been meditating on the sorry state of church, the pending judgment of God and the many laments I have written about on this blog.  I begin to have doubts that I was somehow deceived despite all the wisdom God has poured out to me.  My flesh just did not want to believe that so few professing Christians will be saved, I wanted to believe I was wrong and the majority view that profess to know God were right.  Where had I gone astray I asked?  Where is the error in my understanding?  Was I practicing the very things I have been warning about?  So this is my state of mind,  I am in anguish, I am crying as a grown man, driving down the highway.

So here I am driving along I-20 in Alabama, it is a crystal clear bright and sunny day.  There had been no rain for days.   Suddenly I noticed water coming off the back of a few cars and trucks.  It was only on very few of the vehicles, maybe 2 out of 100 vehicles that I passed or that I observed going the other way.  It was visible water, drops of water, and not a stream.  I saw it with my own eyes as I passed some going the same direction I was headed.  Yet where was this water, these dew drops coming from?  The roads were not wet whatsoever and there was no rain anywhere in the Southeast.  The water was coming off the roofs of these vehicles like how light rain or morning dew might if you accelerated to 70 MPH.

Then God spoke to my heart and He said:  See, you are not alone.  There are many others but they are relatively few given all that call themselves by My Name.  I began to cry and weep first for the confirmation to my soul that God was working in me and through me.  But then the horror hit me and about the extent of deception and apostasy.  I was in real anguish.  I thought about all the people I know, even my family,  that consider themselves Christians yet do not truly know the Living God.  I would regain my composure but every few minutes when I saw some dew drops coming off another vehicle, I would cry once more.  The vehicles with water remained very few in number and 30 minutes later I was at my destination and exited the Highway.  One thing to note, there seems to be many saved truck drivers as proportionately speaking, there was a lot more of them with dew drops then there was cars.  Maybe all that time alone gives them the opportunity to commune with God and not be weighed down by the dissipations of the world?

God clearly spoke to me and showed me something that I saw in the natural that had no basis in science.  Maybe someone can tell me scientifically why 1-2% of the cars and trucks driving an interstate highway on a perfectly sunny day would be spilling dew drops and the other 98% would not.  I am happy to listen but the Word God spoke to me is the trump card.  My carnal mind was not making this up.

God showed me that the drivers of the cars with the dew drops and water represented the chosen few of God.  The ones with the Spirit of God had the dew drops and the water was flowing from them into the world.  Needless to say, I was absolutely stunned by these events and the spiritual confirmation from God.  My life will never be the same.  I pray I never forget.

God is not dead my friends.  He is a living God and He speaks to His people and puts His Spirit inside them.  Jesus said His sheep hear His voice and follow Him.  A few days before this incident I had written a blog post where I quoted this passage from Isaiah.

Isaiah 35:8 A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it.

I never recalled this passage until I found it and used it my blog post called the Foolishness of Building Bigger Churches.   Yet God used the natural highway I was driving that day to reinforce what He said about His spiritual highway through the Prophet Isaiah.  In Matthew Chapter 7, Jesus said that many will come to Him on that day that call Him LORD LORD, and He will tell them depart from me, I never knew you workers of unrighteousness.  Now I have much deeper appreciation and understanding of what God meant when He said those words.  In some small way, God is now using me to get people off the broad road and onto the narrow road aka the Highway to Holiness.

As God awakens us in the end,  our natural instincts will be to run to the world and seek confirmation.  Don’t take the calling of God and run to 3-4 of your friends and ask them to vote on what you heard from God.  This is one of the lessons of Jonah.  Jonah did not heed the call of God when first sent forth.  Jonah was surrounded by water (lies of Satan) as his prayer tells us and he was afraid and not fully trusting in God.  It was unbelief that led him to flee from the call of God.  The devil told him similar lies to what we hear today.    “You are not worthy” or “‘God could not possibly use someone like you” or “God doesn’t speak to His people anymore”.

It took going through the distress God brought to Jonah and the men that were with him on that fateful ship for Jonah to begin to believe.   When Jonah finally laid down his own life by telling the ship’s crew to cast him overboard into the sea,  then God  stepped in and protected Jonah and gave him the confidence he needed to go preach repentance to Nineveh.  I believe a lot of people are being awakened from their sleep by God and are being told to go preach repentance to the cities.

God was faithful to Jonah despite his initial rebellion and while I am no Jonah,  God has given me multiple chances to answer the call.  Praise God, I am finally awake.  I get it.  Bless you Jesus.

If God is calling you and sending you forth, answer Him.  Seek confirmation, He will provide if your motives in asking are pure,  meaning to  serve Him and not selfish ambition.

May God Bless You Richly!

Bless you Shirly and thank you for this comment. You sent it the day I flew to Australia and I just noticed it. Praise be to God. Yes, if we walk in covenant as Jesus walked, the signs and wonders will follow us as a demonstration of the power and glory of Jesus, who lives in us, the hope of glory!

I typed in this quote on Google: Go not forth into a dry world till the morning dew lies on your branches. And then I read your blog. I have been in ministry for 25 years and we are constantly amazed every day how God provides every one of our needs.
Here is another: Baptize your heart in devotion or you wade into the stream of daily care.
Another: See not the face of man until you first have seen the face of God.
And another: Let your first thoughts fly heavenward and your first breath be prayer.

I know that my husband and I are not alone. We on the other hand do not see the consistency and pursuit of knowledge and wisdom in many people. The churches will be still sitting in the pews waiting on a fresh anointing of God when the anointing has been deposited in us already of which the power and love and light is provided as we act on the word. We are heaven bound. We are looking for the kingdom in us push forth so the kingdom of God can rule on this earth when Jesus comes back.
Test this and see if this is from the Lord: Once you were a smiling child, full of light and love and your parents brought you up in a good land. You have given Me all you have since you chose Me. Now that I have chosen you, bring fruits to the forefront and let me show you how much love is released in your obedience. I can do all things because you pray. But now do not pray for those to get healed. Demand that spirit of infirmity to go and pronounce life into the stiff and dead body and it shall live. You have My Life in you. Go and proclaim righteousness where there isn’t any. Be Jesus for He is in you. Act out the Word and see signs and wonders follow you. Genesis 1:26-28 says I have made you in My likeness and in My image. And you have authority over every thing on the earth….that means you now speak to those things on the earth and make them obey you, in the Name of Jesus. Do not back down and do not doubt and do not let your eyes deceive you. Believe in Me and then act on My Word. When you tell someone to be healed, they are healed. Power of the word in your mouth is My Power, My Life. Do you see it? Then go do…Now!

May God continue to enlighten all that seek His truth. (What is truth? God’s Word is Truth). Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by me. John 14:6 Thank you Lord for opening my eyes to your truth. I love you Jesus, my Shepherd, my Rock and my Salvation!
