When Did God Lose Control?

January 24, 2010

Isaiah 45:7 I am the LORD, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these.

God is in control.  God created darkness, He said it in this verse and He said in scores of other verses.  The LORD is the creator of ALL THINGS and He is indeed Sovereign.  There is NOTHING that happens or comes into existence that He did not speak to happen.  This comes against the image most people have of God and this false image is leading people into many misunderstandings about God and the truth He has left for us to obey.  I want to discuss this controversial topic and share you with what the Lord has shown me.

People that pick and choose through the Word of God follow a flesh pleasing cotton candy gospel.  They cling to lies that come from Satan, the flood of words I have often spoken about.  These lies appeal to our flesh and our carnal understanding of God Almighty.  You see Satan wants us to think about God as only causing good.  Because when evil comes or calamity strikes, if we do not believe God is in control or we believe God cannot cause evil to happen, then we doubt the existence and the faithfulness of God’s Word. These lies about God keep people following the wrong spirit and looking to the carnal wisdom of men for the truth and explanation.  God is our ONE true teacher and the Scriptures tell us what we need to know.

God is faithful and His Word is absolutely true.  But know that God brings both blessings and curses to the earth.  God brings healing but He also brings sickness.  God brings rest but He also brings distress.  God brings life but He also brings death.  God is a God of Love but He is also a God of Judgment.  In fact I hope you will begin to understand that God created the enemy Satan and uses the enemy to accomplish His purposes.  This truth is throughout the Word from the Old Testament through the New Testament.  When there is no fear of the Lord, people are blind to this truth.  I hope God will use the Scriptures I highlight in this blog to open your eyes to this truth if you do not already see it.

Unfortunately people make irresponsible statements like Pat Robertson did about the earthquake in Haiti.  God most certainly caused the earthquake and for whatever reason, only God knows but we need to know it was HIM.  I can sit here and speculate but it is only my opinion:

1.  Maybe God wanted to call the true faithful suffering in Haiti out of their suffering and into rest awaiting the Lord’s return.

2.  Maybe God wanted to punish the country for sin.  The Word says He does exactly that but we are not the judge of hearts only God is.

3.  Maybe God wanted to do #1 or #2 but at the same time send the Church and the World a warning that His return in glory is very soon.

4.  Maybe God wanted in part to use this calamity to spark man into action that demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus as we love our neighbor as ourself.  Maybe people will see the suffering in Haiti and rethink the griping and complaining about their own life?

The point is nobody really knows but no matter the reason, God is working this earthquake and all of its ramifications for His greater good.   Carnal logic says death is horrible, but those that are truly in Christ, to die is gain as Paul told us when contemplating his own soon to be physical death.

Philippians 1:2 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain

To be absent the body is to be with the Lord IF we are truly born of God.  So any true Christian that was killed in this earthquake is really in a better spot.  Does that mean we wish such calamity upon people or that we do not pray for the Haitians or help them with our money and time and service?  Absolutely not.  But if you really believe in God, then how can you argue the people killed that were His are not better off?  My point is do not look to this calamity or any other calamity and use it to doubt God.  He is very real my friends.  God is in absolute total control and is working to carry out His purposes that He God setup.  He is God Almighty.

The Word of God does not tell us everything about God and How He thinks and operates.  That is a mystery that He only reveals to us what we can bear.  But the Scriptures do show us the consequences and judgments that come upon men for obeying or disobeying His commandments.  Does this mean God is evil?  Certainly not.  But it also does not mean that God has lost control.  God’s hand is over everything.  He works all things for the greater good of those that love Him.

Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes ALL THINGS to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

This means that if a accident happens, God allowed it to happen.  This means that if 200,000 people die in Haiti, God caused it.  This does not make God evil whatsoever, we simply need to trust Him and know that He is in control.  He is working all things for His people, even calamity and tragedy.  I offer just a handful of Scriptures that tells us the Lord has His hand on EVERYTHING that happens in our lives.

Amos 3:6 If a trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble? If a calamity occurs in a city has not the LORD done it?

Lamentations 3:37-38 Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, Unless the Lord has commanded it? 38Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both good and ill go forth?

Deuteronomy 28:58 “If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD, 59 then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues—great and prolonged plagues—and serious and prolonged sicknesses.

Psalm 38:3 Because of your anger, my whole body is sick; my health is broken because of my sins

Job 42:11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him.

Psalm 74:1 O God, why have You rejected us forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

Jeremiah 51:29 The land trembles and writhes, for the LORD’s purposes against Babylon stand— to lay waste the land of Babylon so that no one will live there

God has not changed.  The new covenant gave us a better way of avoiding the curses and wrath of God.  It did not change God’s nature of Holiness and hatred of sin.  I could fill 50 pages with Scripture that says the same thing.  I pray you will go read the Scriptures yourself and quit following after the traditions of the Apostate Church of Babylon.

God Uses Evil For Good

God is Holy and there is no darkness in Him.  He is the light of the world.  Yet in the mystery of His creation, He created darkness or what is otherwise called evil.  But in the goodness of God, He uses this darkness to bring people into fellowship with Him.  He wants our whole hearts.  He wants us to repent and turn and follow Him and for us to forsake the ways of the world.  So when God puts people in darkness or gloom, He is doing it to punish them so they will respond in true repentance.  Typically God’s Word will paint a story of oppression and judgment upon His people but in these stories He always provides a way out.  It is called repentance or giving God your heart.  This is VERY GOOD NEWS.

Psalm 107:10-11 Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering in iron chains, for they had rebelled against the words of God
and despised the counsel of the Most High

God is a righteous judge.  He brings upon and allows people to suffer.  He hates sin and rebellion against His commandments.  But God also loves us, in that he chastises, disciplines us so we will repent and turn back to Him.  This is why God brings trials upon us, it is to test our love for Him and bring affliction upon us so we will turn and trust in Him alone.  So yes, our loving God allows the powers of darkness to attack us, imprison us, tempt us and bring distress upon us when we walk in stiff-necked rebellion to Him.  God creates the waves on the sea but He also calms the sea.  You need to understand this truth.

But God gave us a way out of prison and distress and that way was Jesus.  IF we walk in covenant with the Lord, we will be free and will have peace and the powers of darkness shall have no place in us.  But IF we do not walk in Covenant and follow a different way than Jesus, we are promised we will be chastised.  Praise God for that because without such chastisement and affliction we would not turn back to God and we would be lost forever.

The prophet Isaiah wrote about God and His righteous judgment.  Here is an excerpt from Chapter 5 that speaks to God removing His protection and bringing calamity and destruction upon His people that were in rebellion.  No I am not saying the Haitains brought this on themselves, we simply do not know.  My point is we need to know that God brings both good and evil forward on this earth.

Isaiah 5:5-7:  The Lord Speaks

Now I will tell you
what I am going to do to my vineyard:
I will take away its hedge,
and it will be destroyed;
I will break down its wall,
and it will be trampled.

6 I will make it a wasteland,
neither pruned nor cultivated,
and briers and thorns will grow there.
I will command the clouds
not to rain on it.”

7 The vineyard of the LORD Almighty
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are the garden of his delight.
And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed;
for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.

We need to understand God as the Judge.  If we do not, we will not fear God, which is the foundation upon which all knowledge and wisdom of God is manifest in our heart.  This why we have a an apostate fallen away church today.  The fear of God is not taught.  Only the flesh pleasing parts of the Bible and the gospels are taught and this is perversion of the Word of God which leads to destruction and abominations that cause desolation in the hearts of God’s people.

Consider even a miracle of Jesus.  Jesus healed a blind man in John 9 and the Disciples asked why the man was blind, was it because of the man’s sin or the sin of the man’s parents.  The Disciples understood Jesus as the righteous judge and that sin was to be punished as that was what all the Prophets spoke of in the Scriptures.  God does not change and Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. But Jesus spoke an even greater truth to them.  Jesus told them God made the man blind so that the glory of God may be made manifest on that day.  God indeed worked all these things for His greater good including making a man blind for most of his life.  We need to quit playing God and questioning God.  Who are we as the clay to talk back to the potter?  God was and remains to this day in total control of the earth, the heavens and all events going on in the world.

John 9:1-4 As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth.2And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

If we do not understand that God causes both good and evil then we do not know God.  To think God only causes good weakens the faith, leads to unbelief, creates fear because it says God is not in control.  This undermines the promises of eternal life for all those who love Him and persevere to the end.  I am absolutely sick of how the enemy has gotten this lie into the church.  Understanding that God created and uses evil is key to overcoming the enemy and the world.

God is good and He has given an amazing opportunity to live here on the earth and if we meet His conditions to spend eternity with Him as His adopted sons and daughters.  Man life is good.  While we may not understand things or be able to explain to a lost person why evil exists,  we need not be shaken in our faith or have doubts.  God is in control and we need to trust in Him and His promise that all things will be worked according to His purposes.

May God Bless You Richly!
