How Jesus Reveals Himself

April 23, 2009

Divine LightJohn 14:21-24  He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. ”He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

This chapter in John is powerful teaching from the Lord.  Earlier in the chapter Jesus says simply “if you love me, you will obey my commandments”.  In the quoted passage above, Jesus elaborates and explains clearly that loving Him and keeping His commandments is the way to Jesus and ultimately to the Father.  In fact, Jesus promises us that He will disclose Himself to us, if we love Him — which means we are obeying His commandments.   My own walk has proven this to be true.  While a professing believer ensnared in sin for which I was unrepentant and had rationalized was okay because everyone does it,  I never heard from God.  He did not speak to me and I was frustrated when I heard others speak to hearing from God.  I didn’t hear God because I was not obeying His commandments nor was I even seeking His righteousness by striving to obey.  I carried no cross daily, I was told denying myself was not required and that all I had to do was profess a belief in the Son of God.  I was living the same lie that most of the professing church contines to live today.

You see in this passage also Judas (not the evil one) ask Jesus if He was disclosing Himself just to the them or the whole world.  Jesus answered and said that IF ANYONE (you, me etc) loves Jesus, WE WILL KEEP HIS WORD and as a result Jesus and the Father would come make their abode with us.  So being in the presence of the Lord is conditioned upon our obedience to His commandments.  If we claim to love Him and do not obey Him we are a liar and the truth is not in us says John the Apostle.

1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  Sadly there are many that claim to be in fellowship with Christ yet walk in darkness (sin).  The watchmen of the church need to return to their posts and warn of coming judgment and awaken those that slumber in darkness.

1 John 2 :3-6  Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.  He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.  He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.   I was a liar for most of my life.  There are many liars in churches on Sunday.  Jesus will not make His abode with us, if we live in sin.  If we do not earnestly seek Him and His righteousness we are deceived if we think we KNOW CHRIST.  He will say “depart from me, I do not know, you who practice lawlessness.  Do you know some liars?  We need to judge righteous judgment, be gentle and seasoned with salt, we need to warn them.  Risking their rejection and persecution is a price we must pay just as Jesus paid when he rebuked the phony faith of the Jewish leaders. There is a cost of discipleship that has all but been forgotten by the apostate church,

1 John 3:4-9 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.  This is a totally unambigious series of verses that are totally consistent with all that Jesus said.  Jesus came to destroy sin, not to forgive them all.  He forgives past sins and future sins only if confessed and repented of with a sincere heart.  His grace is not a license to sin as all the Apostles warned us.  If you keep on sinning, you are not a child of God, but are of the devil as John does not mince words here.

If we earnestly want to KNOW GOD, we need to be in His presence.  To be in His presence, we must obey His commandments.  Knowing Him is a requirement for eternal life and He tells us in John 14 how it is that we get to know Him.  We must abide in Him and He in us.  If we practice sin He will not come in and His abode will not be with us.  These are the words of the Lord, they are truth.  In John 15, the parable of the Vine,  Jesus makes it even clearer by stating the IF/THEN condition on salvation.  If we abide in Him we bear fruit and have eternal life.  If we don’t abide in Him, we are chopped off the vine and thrown into the fire.  Read it for yourself.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW JESUS OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS.

IF YOU WANT JESUS TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU BY THE HOLY SPIRIT — OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS.

IF YOU WANT TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS.

Jesus spoke the three statements bolded above.  These are some of the key words that will judge us on the last day. God hates sin and has set his conditions in the Holy Scriptures.  He has written them on our hearts as well, so we have NO EXCUSE.  If you are hearing a different gospel, I encourage you to seek wisdom from God and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all truth.  The Spirit of Truth is how true knowledge is revealed to us.  It does not come from men and it does not come especially from the false teachers of grace, of whom are the majority of preachers.

John 14:15-18 If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.   If we want the Spirit of Truth to come and to stay, we need to repent of our sins and obey the commandments of Jesus.  If you want to know God, this is what you must do.  It is the price you must pay.  You must deny yourself but God is faithful, He has not left us as orphans, or by ourselves.  His Spirit will guide you if you surrender and trust in Him.

Paul told us we are slaves to the one we obey which reinforced Jesus words in Luke 6:46  But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?  Practice sin and call Jesus Lord or really really call Him Lord as denoted in the double saying of Lord Lord, you are deceived and Jesus is not really your Lord.  Do you Love Jesus?  He said if you do, you will obey His commandments.  Do not be deceived my friends.  Wake up, trim your lamps gather extra oil as He comes quickly.

In my post on Who Is God’s Friend (click hyperlink to access), I reviewed the conditions and characteristics Jesus said His friends would possess.  The key verse is this.

John 15:13-15 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  You are My friends IF you DO whatever I command you.  No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

I am a friend of GOD and know that you want to be a friend also.  Let’s continue in faith and seek God and know that He will come to those that Love Him which means we will be obeying His commandments.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU RICHLY!!

Proverb 24:24 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”  Him the people will curse;   Nations will abhor him.

    .
Thanks Charles; as usual you always bring edifying messages to the decussion board.
I am very blessed by them.

    .

The light is life. the darkness is dead. When the light is turned on it rules and reigns over the darkness, as the darkness is consumed by the Spirit of His mouth (light). Light consumes darkness. If there is no light in us we are trampled on in the outer court of darkness by the wondering Zombies (powers of darkness). They have no power over the children of the light, because light consumes them

    .

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,((( against the rulers “of” the darkness “of” this world))), against spiritual wickedness in high places.

“of” the darkness- of this world (2 factions of evil)

These powers can only rule over the darkness”of” this world, they cannot rule the light”in” the in us, who are in the world. Light consumes darkness. In the world, but not of the world.

Lets fill ourselves with His light which will consume the darkness, this is how the saints rule and reign with Him.

Gen 1 In the beginning there was darkness,

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the (((morning were the first day))).

Jesus is the light, the bright and Morning Star. Revelation 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

God was very divisive from the beginning, we are to be His children of the Day.

Darkness always comes first, otherwise we would not know what light is. A child never sees the light until it is born. When we are reborn in Christ we can now see the light, and the darkness is consumed. The deception is the darkness calls it self light without knowing or see true light one can be persuaded that the darkness is actually light. They will call evil good. The Babylonian world now believes evil is good and the believe darkness is light. The real battle starts with in ourselves to remove the darkness, it must be at all costs consumed by the light of His Glory.

Rev 21 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

The kings of the earth are the saints.who were given dominion and power to tread on serpents and scorpions.(the powers of darkness)

Rev 1-6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

    peace be with you
    Bill

Shareing personel testimonies of failure and overcomeing is what the father would have us do, much thanks, brother Pete.
In James 5 : 16 It says “confess your faults one to another ,and pray one for another, that ye may be HEALED.the effectual fervant pray of a righteous man availeth much.
Once these dark things are exposed and brought out into the light, they can be destroyed.
I know we are talking about how Jesus reveals himself in this article, but, self examination, correction, judging ourseleves, keeps us in position for “THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST”
He says in Rev. 1:1 “THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST,which God gave unto him,to show unto his SERVANTS things which must shortly come to pass:and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.
The revelation or revealing of Christ within our spirits is where Christ truly wants to reveal himself to. Because when he reveals himself within our “KINGDOM WITHIN” he is then present to rule and reign as KING.We have got to get the PURITY of Gods WORD down within our spirits in order for that to take place. And that revealing will only come to his servants .
He resists the proud and self righteous, and responds to those of a open and contrite heart , who humble themselves by faith to seek him only.
At one point in my life I could tell you all about what was going to happen in the end days.
I knew all about the natural temple to be built in Israel, all about who the antichrist was ( Quan Carlos ), about the post and pre tribulations , and yes of coarse, the gloryrious rapture that would take me away so that I don’t have to suffer or fight.
Scales of pride , self righteousness, not being his servant, kept the coming of the ” Revelation of Jesus Christ ” within my spirit .
Don’t we have to be beat down and humbled like Paul on the Damascus road in order to get this revealing of “THE LIGHT THAT BURNED SO BRIGHT” within our spirit?
And not just a one time humbling , but a day to day humbling so that pride cannot take root and stop the revealing of Christ to our spirit.
When we go into a dark room ( hidden dark things in our life ) and then turn on the light , where does the darkness go?
Does it go out of the window? under a table? Or maybe under a bed?
In the presence of the LIGHTof GODS WORD it simply does not exsist.
We must bring out our dark hidden things within us to be exposed by the LIGHT . When we do this they simply do not exsist.
This must be done before God and our brothers and sisters, confessing our faults one to another.
It is part of the order that our Lord has established to bring on “THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST ”
We must have the attitude of the prodigal son in our return to the Father, that of a sevant,
not as a little god, or someone highly esteemed, BUT AS A SERVANT.
When we do this, we can see the Father on our horizon coming for us, for our restoration unto sonship.
God bless us in our journey back to the Father., Jer33:3
