God Hates Sin

April 16, 2009

jesusprayingrockTherefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 1 Peter 4:1

Here Peter tells us we can stop sinning but we will suffer in doing so.  This is absolutely consistent with what Paul and Jesus also said regarding crucifying our flesh (i.e. it hurts) and the price we will need to pay to “lose our fleshly life to gain eternal spiritual life”.  I am amazed at how deluded Christianity has become relative to what I see as very clear teaching in the Bible.  If there is one repeating consistent theme in the bible, it is this:

GOD HATES SIN

God is indeed Love we are told.  God is also light and God is truth.  Good is innately good but above all He is Holy.  No darkness, evil or sin can have any place with God.  Sin is evil and sin is darkness so let’s just boil the bad things down to sin for this blog discussion.

God loves us and created us in His own image and for His own purpose.  Every good thing we have now or have ever has came from God.  God has provided us with all that we need to enjoy life and please him at the same time.  He tells us in His Word how to please Him and tells us what doesn’t please Him and what He hates.  Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us the six things God hates and seven that are detestable:

There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:

    17 haughty eyes,
       a lying tongue,
       hands that shed innocent blood,

18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,

19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up dissension in the community.

What are these things and even people that God hates?

1.   Haughty Eyes:  Haughty eyes encompass a number of evil sinful things. Pride is one, coveting another and lust another. We can put lots of other words with these, things like arrogance, jealousy, stealing, envy, sexual immorality and the like.

2.   A Lying Tongue:  God hates liars, what else needs to be said?  When we spin stuff, manipulate things, selectively disclose information, we create a web of deceit that God views as lying. Rev 21:8 tells us the place for liars will be in the lake of fire.

3.   Hands that Shed Innocent Blood:  Certainly murder is the obvious sin, but the big one, even some professing Christians overlook today is Abortion.  Abortion is indeed murder.  Who is more innocent that an unborn child?  Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord, He will repay those that do these things.

4.   Heart That Devises Wicked Schemes: When life is all about you, the devil loves to assist men in creating wicked schemes.  Pride and Greed are the common roots from which such schemes are created. People will do almost anything for money and when we earn a living with deceptive or evil practices we will be held accountable by the Lord, there will be no escape.  Far too many seek power, fame, fortune and fleshly pleasures and place them and their pursuit above God. Just look out your window into your world and grasp the extent to which wicked schemes proliferate.  God hates this.

5.   Feet Quick To Rush Into Evil:  Here I believe God is telling us He hates those that have no self control and have no hesitation in immersing themselves in evil activities.  We are told many places: Proverbs, Titus, James to be self controlled. With no Holy Spirit to guide us to truth and to convict us of wrongdoing, there are no brakes to slow down the rush of man into evil pursuits.  This is unrepentant wickedness, a practice of sin versus the stumble or sin that comes from weakness.  He hates the both but He has a special place for the inherently wicked.

6.   False Witness That Pours Out Lies:  I surmise God hates lies so much he actually made a distinction for false witnesses that tell lies about other people.  This is also one of the ten commandments.  When lies are told that impugn an innocent person, other people are deceived, so the harm is spread quickly and God gets angry. I think this speaks directly to the false teachers and the false workers of righteousness that are giving false witness about Christ and the Word.

7.   People That Stir Up Dissension:  I think this is driven largely by pride but here God puts these people on his hate list.  If I had one worry about my blogging it is that I don’t want to create dissension in the ranks of true brothers and sisters.  There is clearly no motive to that, so if it happens it was not on purpose.  But there are gossips and highly judgmental bible thumpers and slanderers that love to belittle others and spew hate, division and strife.  In fact they go looking for people to criticize, they get their significance in life by doing this.  We are to have nothing to do with them as Paul said in Titus 3:10.

The prophet Ezekiel wrote 18:20 The soul that sins shall die.  There is no exception to this prophecy foretold by Ezekiel.  The bible is absolutely clear and consistent on this theme.  Nothing contradicts this prophecy, not the new covenant, not Jesus, not grace, nothing.  No these subsequent gifts reaffirmed God’s hatred of sin as these gifts provide us the means to destroy sin and thereby be reconciled to God always.  Now that is true love from God.  He wants to be in our company but he still hates sin.

The false workers of righteousness that really work for Satan have spent the past 2,000 years creating lies and twisting the truth of God.  Sadly many have departed the way of true faith and have been led astray by the error of the wicked.

2 Cor 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.  No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

2 Peter 3:14-17 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the long-suffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked.

This very warning from Peter specifically predicted that Paul’s teachings would be twisted to lead people astray.  I am big believer in bible prophecy, and folks this one has been fulfilled.  The false teachers of Grace use Paul’s epistles almost exclusively and especially Romans and Galatians to spin deceit.  As Peter mentions these books are hard to understand but the truth can be found by using other scripture to interpret the verses that cause the confusion.  These same teachers will tell us we are not under law and quote a verse then skip right over one like Romans 2:12 or 2:13 that says we will perish apart from the law if we sin and that our obedience makes us righteous NOT grace.  We could never obey without Grace is what Paul was teaching.  God hates sin, he wants to be reconciled to us and he gives us grace so we can defeat sin, only thru his grace and be with him forevermore.

Teachings on grace have been perverted; the love of most towards God has indeed grown cold in the 21st century.  Look at the church in Europe, is anyone still there?  Is the USA following?  The church is in near total apostasy.  I am not some self righteous snob, please don’t misunderstand.  I know plenty of godly people that love the Lord but proportionately speaking it is very few to the body of professing believers.  The God sent delusion spoken about in 2 Thessalonians is now in full operation.  Many Christians, have been deceived and are now deluded such that they will not believe the truth to be saved.  They will perish if they do not awaken and repent.

2 Thess 2:11  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousnessUnrighteousness is SIN.  God hates SIN.

When is Jesus coming back?  When will God require our soul?  None of us know that, so we must be ready. Like in the parables of the Ten Virgins and in the times of Noah, the door to heaven will be shut and it will be too late.

I am worried about the remaining time.  I believe God is using me in a small way to get the word out.  If you had told me a year ago I would be doing this I would have thought you were crazy.  But God works in mysterious ways and calls the most unlikely of people into His service, including a Christian nobody like me.  We that are of the true faith need to rise up and proclaim this truth and awaken many from their slumber.  The fate of our friends, families, co-workers and the multitudes across the earth is very well at stake.

Paul said in Romans 2:12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law, will be judged by the law.  Preachers only focus on the second part of this verse, and say we are not under law, which is correct, but they infer or even lie and claim that we will not perish for sin.  But look at the first part of the verse.  What happens to people that sin apart from the law — they also perish!.   The new covenants that Jesus brought, including His grace, DID NOT change the rules for SIN.  It is time for the truth to be told.  Who is righteous?  Paul tells us in the very next verse Romans 2:13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law which will be declared righteous.

The prophets of God and the Apostles didn’t go to seminary school.  If God chose a donkey to speak to Balaam, why do we as men then only think God uses seminary graduates to preach the truth of his Word?  I am not looking for a fight with any pastor, deacon or anyone, nor do I wish to create dissension amongst the true brethren.  What I want is souls to be saved and the professing church to come out of its apostasy.

I know we are saved by Grace and I understand what Grace really is and what it is not.  Grace is not a license to sin.  This is the very warning the bible warns us not be deceived about yet it is the very deception that has led the church into apostasy.

Ephesians 2:8-9 is only two verses in the bible.  These verses are true.  But to interpret them the way most preachers do is to dismiss almost the entire rest of scripture.  “We are under grace not under the law” is the cliché passage from Romans 6:14 that sinful Christians like to cling to.  But sadly, this misinterprets what Paul meant given the whole of Romans and all his epistles.

This false teaching on Grace and Sin is so clear to me my flesh wants to SCREAM at people that don’t get it.  But that would not be rebuking error in the gentle and loving way we are called to do it. So I am learning to speak more softly.

The bible is filled with warnings and statements from God about his hatred for sin.  Sin is serious and keeps us from fellowship with God.  Until and unless we defeat sin, we will not enter life with the Lord.  If we are living in sin, the effectiveness of even our prayers is impacted negatively.  James says the prayers of a righteous man avails itself much. The corollary to this is the prayer of a man living with un-repented sin is not heard. We need to be reconciled with God as He will have nothing to do with sin.  Unless we repent and become purified of our sins, we cannot walk with Jesus and we cannot be his disciple.  Thankfully we have Jesus, our Lord and Savior who gives us the way to be reconciled with the Father and also provided a Comforter to guide us in all truth.

Preaching on sin is rarely heard about in the church today.  I cannot even remember the last time I heard a sermon on this in church.  Churches want to be pleasing to their congregants and develop all kinds of cute videos, nice sounding sermon themes, talk about how to manage stress or money but don’t speak about sin and its consequences.  I am sorry but that is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  God says it very clearly, consistently and persuasively.

GOD HATES SIN.

Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death.  Praise God for his mercy and the grace that flows to us from that mercy that we can stand up to sin and overcome it.

May God Bless You Richly!!!

Paul told us we MUST aim for perfection. He said MUST to agree with Jesus statements that if we love Him, we will obey. If we are not aiming to be perfect, we are showing we really don’t fully love God and He is not #1 in our lives. Thankfully we don’t have to achieve perfection (although it is possible as I have written about). Grace comes into to play in two ways. 1) it gives us the power to obey and resist temptation and 2) if we do stumble, and most will, but this will be less and less as we are sanctified, Grace includes the forgiveness of God when we repent. In fact the HS will convict us and we will want to repent and be made righteous again. Hopefully we learn from our error, we reaim for perfection and we continuing walking. Depending on our faith, some are able to stop sinning but in any event our goal is to STOP SINNING as that is perfection. Those that teach everyone sins, nobody is righteous are false teachers. While those statements are true, the context is that they only apply to us before we are born again of the spirit. Once we are born again we are told WE CANNOT PRACTICE SIN. If we keep in sinning, we are not HIS pure and simple, we deceive ourselves. Those that do this are the MANY that call Jesus Lord yet Jesus will say Depart from me I never knew you.

You mention people “must aim for perfection” as Christians.

Does salvation require people only “aim for perfection” or also require achieving perfection in order to be “done with sin” and be “pure and spotless“ as “the bride Jesus is coming back for“ in the future?

Student, THe concept is when one is done with sin as Peter says, they are pure and spotless. That is the bride Jesus is coming back for. Some indeed achieve this but they must aim for perfection, knowing they have grace to fall back on if they stumble. But they PRACTICE righteousness. They are fully surrendered to Jesus, they are walking FULLY in the spirit. THe Spirit is guiding them to all truth. They Love THe Lord Thy God above anything else and seek to please him by their faith and by their obedience. They have the mind of Christ. They have fully crucified their flesh. They are a brand new creation in Christ. Their old man is really really dead, not just play dead. You see this is what all these references refer to. If we are living for GOD and only God, these things will happen. Some people take longer to be fully sanctified when they aren’t fully surrendered, when their faith is shaken, but others figure this out much quicker. That is mystery I am still searching for but know this GOD controls the cards here. God reveals revelation knowledge to us, we don’t go find it. But God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him (hebrews) and if you seek him with all you got, he is there and will answer the call and show you great and might things you do not know. God Bless

Because “God hates sin” so much, is there an objective concept of how one lives who has “become purified of our sins” that shows what is and what is not purified sinless behavior?
