DO YOU LOVE THE LORD?

December 11, 2008

cross1I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me!!!

Do you believe this verse from Phil 4:13? I used it as cliché in the past when I felt tempted to sin, but usually I ended up sinning anyway. When I still sinned, it caused be me great doubt for a time but as the Lord has worked on me, He has shown me, I sinned anyway because I did not really love Him. Jesus told us to love the Lord thy God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your soul. What part of ALL don’t we understand?

I loved my idols, I loved satisfying the lust of my flesh or the pride of my worldly life. I wasn’t living my life to please God, I was living my life to please ME by satisfying the lust of my flesh that is spoken of in Galatians 5:16.

I believed in Jesus but I did not love the Lord in my heart. Intellectually I loved Him and I wanted to love Him more, but I really loved myself and worldly lusts more than I loved Him. I called him Lord but he really wasn’t Lord. I was Lord. I wasn’t seeking first His righteousness and trusting that He would add all things onto me. I was trusting in myself to add all the worldly pursuits onto myself. I was immersed in sin and living the lie that most so called Christians live, the one I spoke about last blog called the error of the wicked.

Do you really love Jesus? Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey my commandments”. He also said “why do you call me Lord, if you do not do what I command?” When I was not obeying the Lord, he wasn’t my Lord, my Lord was Satan since that was who I was obeying. I was a slave to sin and not to righteousness.

Through the grace of God, I have been awoken from my sleep. I am being purified and sanctified daily. I don’t deserve this favor from God, none of us do, but He has called me for a purpose and I pray that I will fulfill it. We will suffer, but that is what the cost of discipleship is all about. Salvation is not a cake walk.

Sanctification is a process and we must wait on the Lord to complete the good work he starts in us. Make no mistake, Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil which is sin. But we must trust in Him and his Word but more importantly WE MUST DO WHAT HE COMMANDS. I know that what he is doing with me, he wants to do with many, but their hearts have been blinded to the truth.

I encourage you to diligently seek God and His wisdom every day in prayer and quiet time. He will speak to you and tell you where you must change. If you truly love Him, you will respond to his commands and change. The bible says our faith will be tested and that we will ultimately need to choose life or death.

If we receive his grace, we will have all that we need to be victorious in this struggle of transformation.

I wanted to add this little personal story to my blog. I hope it gives you some encouragement that no matter where you are that God wants nobody to perish. If you repent and seek His righteousness and follow Him, you can come to a saving faith, which will be a faith that is coupled with obedience.

Love the Lord not in word but in deed.

May God Bless You Richly!!!

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. Anyone who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. John 14:21
